  • We fly back to Ho Chi Minh City and visit the Seawind factory to see how far No Regrets 2 has come along. It has been 5 months since we visited the factory and it is amazing to see how far she has come along.
We finish with a quick summary of some activities we got up to while in Vietnam.

    WHO ARE WE?
We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022.
We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change.
We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other UA-cam channels to follow our dreams.

It is wonderful that Seawind allow you to visit the factory. You cannot be more transparent as a builder to welcome all buyers to have a look.

Yes and it's a head not toilet, but the vast majority of watchers are armchair households with no boat speak, so I often change my wording but try to keep it understandable for all watching. We know that it's running rigging, but watchers see them as just rope

My boat is next on line, thanks for the quick glance😊 I am headed over in August to check in progress and drop off a Starlink cable for Seawind to route. I havnt decided how to mount yet, but one option I am looking at is mounting on top of the dinghy motor crane. This way I can swing the dish out and in out of the way. I will sort it out after delivery. Must be excited being so close! 🤗

Starlink position is the big question! I believe both will fit on that section just to the sides as a flush mount. It certainly can sit in front of the 2 rear panels, but with the boom centred for solar it may obstruct view of the satellites. We have just swapped to Gen3 for the thin mount, but it is slightly bigger.
We're heading back late July, next update we should have most cabinets in.

Talk with Phil H. at OMYC in Pattaya. He has fabricated a Starlink mount that attaches to the side of the coach roof, in the aft corner. Keeps it further away from the boom and the lines.

Thanks David, I did see the gen2 mount on the side. The gen3 is only 4cm (inch & half) thick so it can sit amongst the solar panels pretty easily. There are modular 3D printed kits available that will keep it completely flush and impossible to catch a stray line. I believe it JUST fits in that space I was measuring, but I will determine that at hand over.

@@SailingNoRegrets I have a Gen3 as well, and Phil is modifying that side mount to work with it. I have seen the flat mounted kits from Trio and we did consider that. But given how rapidly technology (and Starlink) is developing, I didn't want to do too much of a "permanent" installation of the dish. I also had concerns about mounting it with a side angle. All that said, it sounds like SL is cracking down on the use of their service in countries where they do not have an agreement to operate. Lots of notices have been going out to boats in the Caribbean that their service will be terminated. Few SE Asia countries have agreements with SL so we could have to revert back to eSIMs if SL cuts off service to Thailand, Indonesia, etc... I'm heading back to Pattaya next week so I'll be crossing my fingers when I power up the SL again.

I certainly hope SL don't restrict the coverage when you are on the global roam plan. We had no issues in Vanuatu and New Caledonia where it isn't operational, but we were there only a few months. Extended stays may be an issue though. Let me know how it foes for you.

Current base boat price is $820k USD. It really depends on your options but earlier purchasers got in at slightly lower price. I believe that Seawind offer a very competitive price for a very good product with excellent after sales support, and why we are replacing No Regrets 1 (1260 that we loved) with No Regrets 2

    Hi
What Nav instruments are you going with? Since you made your previous satellite charts Simrad and B&G and Raymarine are now using Android OS so have you looked at options to make your own charts like you did before? Jason

Keeping with B&G (Simrad & Lowrance are same company) as they are the only plotters that support custom AT5 maps (Satellite Maps). We selected the 16" Zeus 3S at helm and nav desk. I think the android versions (Zeus S) only supports C-Map
