Cable Lateral Raise: Leaning Is Redundant for Muscles Worked

- Go ahead and keep doing cable leaning lateral raises, especially if you like them. They absolutely do work your shoulders. However, when you understand how to better utilize cable side raises, you clearly see that the leaning version is just adding unnecessary steps without any additional benefits because they're redundant to doing upright cable lateral raises when standing closer to the machine.

Spot on! Dynamic, effecient, no bs, true. 🙏🏼👍🏼💪🏼
The 90-degree angle will always stay in my mind when analyzing my choice of equipment. Thank you!
This is super great! I am going to rethink a lot of my arm cable and dumbbell exercises. Thanks so much, Coach Nick. 🌷🌹🌷
Excellent demonstration and explanation! Thank you coach Nick ✌🏼
Great tips as always Nick.
This is fantastic. As a trainer, I just witnessed a young lady (mid 20s est) who said she was a sports medicine, professional doing this exact exercise following dumbbell lateral raises earlier. She first tried straight up for a set, and then did the Leaning version. Both ranges of motion were the same and in fact looked short ranged to begin with. When I suggested it was unnecessary she said she had shoulder problems and that it helped her range of motion, which was completely untrue as I observed her. She of course said she knew what she was doing so I walked away. Very hard for anyone in a related field to accept some suggestions that might be beneficial, or hearing they might be wrong. Maybe she was absent on the day they explained some simple physics. Oh well. I’d love to share this with my clients if ok. Thank you so much
LMAO @ the unintentional Heils, haha.
Anyway. Great video! Appreciate the info!
Thanks! 🌷🌹🌷
