KD’s 2021 Olympics is one of the greatest performance of a basketball player I’ve ever witnessed. He single-handedly kept team USA games. It was insane.

The only possible weakness that this team could have is off ball movement. As we've seen with supposed superteams, some stars find it difficult to adjust to lower usage rates, while a lot of the other international teams play that pass-heavy Euro-style of ball. While I still think USA is going to dominate, it could be something to look out for.
That’s true but I think the bright spots in that aspect is Steph Curry, obviously an incredible off ball player, and KD has proven to perform well even in an off ball oriented style offense when he was in Golden State.

Curry’s too good of a scorer to limit him to spot up shooting. You would devise a play that has Lebron as the trigger man or ball handler, AD as The screener, curry as the shooter obviously. Curry screens for LBJ on the left then immediately after AD screens for Curry on the right. That’s what is good playcalling

the best part about this US team is that it’s a lot of stars, but there’s also a lot of versatility. multiple guys on the roster can score on all 3 levels or defend 3-4 maybe even 5 positions, this USA team is built to win

Problem isn’t the players, it’s the rules. Modern NBA have stupid rules make to inflate scoring. FIBA have rules close to the 90’s/2000’s NBA. It’s hard for US players to adjust to real rules.
Edit: US has the best talent, but that’s why teams with lesser talent ( no NBA players) could beat them.

If you want to get technical both the NBA and NHL are international with teams in Canada.

To make it international they would have to compete against foreign leagues all over the world not just a team thats owned in canada. Same for NHL its a canadian created league it has teams in the US but its still all 1 private competition. Thats why these sports dont grow at an international level like football(soccer) boxing, MMA, Golf etc. those athletes compete at an elite level V people from all over the world. Look at boxing for example some of the top pound 4 pound boxers are all from different countries. Inoue (japan), Crawford (US), Usyk (Ukraine), Canelo (Mexico), Fury (UK), Bivol (Russia) etc. there is elite competition all over the world bc boxing organizations dont just have an American based private league their organizations rank everyone around the world.
I get that you're right but all the best players from every country strive to make it to the league and it's as diverse as it ever has been with the top 10 being filled with guys like Jokic Giannis Luka and SGA, there's a reason that guys that fall out of or can't make the NBA will go play in the euro or Chinese leagues as a fall back plan. I think that can be too simplistic. Many countries have top tier NBA stars, as well as stars in other leagues. The gap has been closing for a long time. The league MVP isn’t even American.
@@ponderingfox 125 out of 450 players in the NBA are international from 40 different countries and territories. The NBA has 325 players from America. Internationally, we have on average, 3 players per country playing here. Yea that adds up and makes a significant portion of the league, but most of the best players still come from America. I know other countries may have other good players too, but if they were good enough to play in the NBA, they would. Overtime this might balance out, but it will likely take centuries.

KD only averaged two less points and 2 less assists than Brunson, KD averaged 3 more rebounds shot better from three, shot better from the field, shot better from the free throw line. Lebron averaged 3 less points than Brunson, but averaged more rebounds, more assists, shot better from three, shot better from the field, and averaged more steals. The only person Jalen performed statistically better than is Curry even though curry averaged more rebounds, shot better from three, and shot better from the free throw line.
I don't want to be biased coz I lived in the Jordan era, but the original Dream Team of Jordan, Magic and Bird with a roster of stars is probably the best assembled USA Team of all time.

The NBA is currently in a transition period. The new guard is rising but they haven't yet fully established themselves. Tatum & Brown made strides this season winning their first championship for the Celtics. 😊

@@Swish2430 😂 Maybe you're right. I don't believe their impact is the same. For example, the Lakers have gone as far as AD has taken them in recent years. He kept breaking down by the 4th quarter against the Nuggets in the first round & the Lakers kept losing the game in the 4th quarter. LeBron sat out games during the regular season & the Lakers beat some of the best teams in the league in those games. AD is easily the most impactful player on the Lakers. We'll see how these old guys go in the upcoming Olympics. They can't use a bad team as an excuse. They'll shine or fall on their sword. The international competition has improved & the US players have fallen back to some extent. I'm an Aussie, so how the US men's basketball team performs in the Olympics doesn't overly concern me. 😊 As a fan of the NBA & the Mavs, it would've been nice to see Kyrie on the team. this team has a chance of losing but that's significantly lower than what the fiba team had to offer. Still, the world champions are the germans for now, I have never seen Bayern Munchen claim they're world champions just because they won the bundesliga. I get that the world cup for basketball is different from fifa but that's only cause it's not as global as football.

It’s a great team of stars. No role players, every guy on the team is “the guy” on their team. FIBA basketball is a”team game” that’s why the U.S have struggled the last few tournaments. The rest of the world caught up. The best thing about this team is there are no excuses. That’s what’s going to make this Olympics so good to watch. There’s a lot of international “teams” that have better chemistry, and don’t need to really on pure talent alone.
It won't prove Noah wrong. On the contrary, it'll further solidify his statement. Yes, the NBA is the Basketball league with the highest level of Basketball played in the world, but it is a NATIONAL/domestic championship dominated by north american participants and governed by north americans.
Let's put it this way. Imagine a single NCAA conference having a much higher competition level than any other conferences. Would the winners of that conference be proclaimed national champions? No. Because even if they're clearly the best, they still haven't faced any of the others in a tournament setup.

Tier 2: Canada, Germany, Australia, Serbia
Tier 3: Slovenia, France, Spain, Greece
I haven´t seen France with Wemby so they could be tier 2. Greece and Slovenia are led by one mega star each who could beat you by themselves but behind Luka and Giannis is pretty much average material. I´m also not sure about Spain since they have always been very good but I think they don´t have enough talent to be tier 2 at the moment.
Canada is stacked with NBA talent and they have one tournament as a team under their belt so I expect them to be dangerous.
Germany is the reigning World Champ (of the actual world) and runs like a very well oiled machine with about 10 players from the NBA or Euroleague.
Australia is also stacked with NBA talent.
Serbia made it to the WC-finals without Jokic but now he will be on the roster which should scare anybody.

Canada Is still stronger then the USA. Murray and SGA is WAY WAY WAY BETTER back court and Zach Edey is going to be better at the C in Fiba rules then you think.

Don't get me wrong the fiba cup last year in terms of the record they were pretty dam good C team. They won most games and had build decent chemistry in a short time. Sadly they couldn't really accomplished much in terms of placement. That said as great of players we have on this Olympic team. Steph, bron, and KD are older now. Halliburton, Joel, and kawhi is still recovering from injuries. They need more time to build chemistry. The world is catching up to the USA. The biggest factor is going to be their ego. A lot of this team is primarily on ball type players. Gotta work on their defense more as it can be more challenging with bigger teams. If i had to replace kawhi, I think jaylen brown is a great replacement he was locking down luka and he was a dynamic scorer as you saw in the finals. I would take kyrie if Halliburton is not 100% as kyrie style of play is unpredictable and can be challenging to foreign teams as they focus mostly on fundamentals. Not many centers could replace Joel though even at 70%.

The biggest challenge will be themselves. Big stars + big talent = big egos. Granted, almost all of these players have played on teams with jam-packed talent but that’s not what I mean by big egos. After the losses to Germany and Canada, it’s safe to say there is major chip on this team’s shoulder. That’s not a bad thing but mindset is key.
Going out to prove Team USA is the best in the world can result in two very different mindsets. A confident but humbled mindset or an arrogant and boastful mindset. One mindset can provide prime fuel for a raging fire while the other provides glamorous fruit from a poisonous tree. It will be extremely important that the team plays with confidence, but understand that they aren’t guaranteed the gold just because they’re Team USA.

Even if the US wins the gold medal at the Olympics, it still doesn’t disprove what Noah Lyles said. In order for Team USA to become world Champions they have to win the World Cup. It's that simple. The Olympics are not the World Cup. The US will just be Olympic champions, not world champs.

I think that even if team usa is crushing the olympics, it doesn't change the fact that the NBA is national league, and not international league, so nba champions are USA champions, not world champions.

You realize the only reason he was the “sought after matchup” is because number 1 Brown is a better defender and number 2 Tatum was cross matched on Dallas’ bigs so when Luka wants a screen from the bigs Tatum is the one switching. He’s not a bad defender he’s a solid one Luka is one of the most unguardable offensive weapons so expecting him to be shut down completely is just ridiculous. None of that should go against Tatum
