      I would also say other country’s basketball teams have NBA experience-the league that has the best basketball players in the world-and players from other leagues who are good enough to play in the NBA.
      All of the top international teams best player(s) play in the NBA and with that experience coming from the best players on the team their talent has caught up their skill.

Individual brilliance can and often does trump even very good teams. But on the world’s biggest athletic stage, the very best players from every country who have been playing together for years are more than capable of beating the US handily. My favorite lineup here:
    Jrue - PG
    Booker - SG
    Ant - SF
    Tatum - PF
    AD - C
    all the other lineups have too much offense or are filled with old heads.

    Don’t forget that Vassilis Spanoulis, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound bench player who averaged 2.4ppg and barely got any playing time in the NBA scored 22 points in FIBA semifinals and eliminated LeBronze and his stacked team of “super-athletes” with Melo, Wade, Howard, CP3, and Bosh. Greece doesn’t even have a single NBA player other than Spanoulis. This Greece team is beaten by Spain in a 23 point blow-out, limiting them to ONLY to 47 points. But, they scored 101 points against LeBronze. They got help of course from the career leader in turnovers, when Lebron is responsible for 40% of the team’s turnovers.
    Mike Krzyzewski and Jerry Colangelo couldn’t take the embarrasment and asked Kobe Bryant and a 35-year old Jason Kidd, named Kobe team captain to baby-sit them.

    When LeBron James is surrounded by the two best shooters of in nba history, plus the most dominant scorer in the world, you just can't loose. I mean how do you stop this offense? LeBron just runs down the floor and you either leave him and he gets a bucket or he passes the ball to and open steph or KD, who is stopping that?!

      Slim? I wouldn't say slim at all. The US team is too self absorbed and rarely can play together in unison. They all want to be the scoring leader, very little team atmosphere. Skill could get them past these teams in the past, not now.

    The US didn't perform poorly at the last WC because of their squad, it was their coaches that failed to understand the nuances of the FIBA game. Watch their games back. Their offences relied on basic actions whereby FIBA actions are more intracate and actually swing the ball to loosen up the defence. If the US first action didn't eventuate, they relied on iso heavy action which plays into the hands of FIBA defences. As for their defence, there was a disctinct lack of boxing out for rebounds allowing for multiple offensive rebounds for opponents. Also, the coaches failed to impart the ability to utilise allowing players to play split line defence AKA clog the middle and therefore creating space on the inside for FIBA teams to exploit.

    • @gabepizza
      @gabepizza 14 днів тому +1

      also the USA didn't have size. Small ball doesn't work in FIBA like in the NBA as the court doesn't have the spacing and there is no 3 seconds. Yes we sort of won the Olympics with small ball but 1 we had Bam, one of the best defensive centers in the league and 2 with a super team like Durant, Tatum, Lilard, etc...you can out score anyone but it was still close. At the WC our only true centers were Portis and Kessler, role players. Jaren Jackson was exposed as in the NBA he plays PF and has a center like Adams to do the dirty work but he got out muscled by the European bigs. Same with Banchero who is great but again in the NBA he is a 4, he needs a center to to the dirty work. Look at our teams in 2016 (Deandre and Cousins) & 2014 (AD & Cousins with Faried as well) they dominated the front court
