Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to remove and replace battery on BMW 7 series E65 or E66. It is not very complicated procedure. When we replace battery on our 2003 BMW 745Li we also use another battery on the front with jumper cables to supply 12 v to the system while we are removing the battery. This way we do not have to reset codes with computer. We are not responsible for any damages as a result of this video. It is just our way of replacing the battery on our own BMW 745Li

I agree with what logic7 said below. This battery requires proper registration. No lights on the dash at start up doesn't prove anything. Most people that buy 10+ year old 7 series don't understand the costs associated with owning these cars because the purchased their used $80k luxury car so cheap. BMW battery replacement requires more than just a memory saver.

You need to understand how BMW power module works. What you're doing only makes YOU think battery doesn't need coded. What's the point if old battery settings still coded and new battery runs like old and gets charged like old battery??
So, a 7 series alternator can't distinguish between a battery that would need, if recharged, 2 Amps an hour and a battery that needs 8 Amps an hour? The relay and the diods and the management on the alternator/car is that stupid? Even my VW cand bump up the revs while idling when it sees the battery is low. Same generation car.
@@braptechfun6036 Power regulator in BMW e65 is differently directed than in most of cars. Not by power, but by line instructions from power module!

Hi, your key fob has a physical key built in it, just push the silver button on the fob and it will spring out; then look underneath above your license plate you will find the key hole on your trunk lid.

This method is a temporary fix. The charging system will overcharge that used battery. As the battery ages- the charging system will adjust its charging rate to compensate for the batterys age.
it will last only 6m, if a previous battery was original. 90Ah i 900A starting power as we seen when u replace them. if new is not agm and not same specification, it will last very short.

Carly does not do battery registration for E65/66 series.
@@CasualCartier true it doesn't, its kinda bad, but with e65 I never coded. Some battery lasted short I had, some lasted long.
My 2004 BMW 745 li high beam don't work
As a matter of fact the main reason you should register the new battery is to prolong the life of your new battery, the way you are suggesting is wrong. as the computer would still think the old battery still installed and it will in turn charges the new battery at a higher rate to compensate for battery aging. When the computer charges the new batter at a higher rate of charge it will over charge the battery and boil it .Onn the long term the new battery will not last as it should . . So with my full respect your short cut is not really practical in term of using the battery to its full potential. There is a reason why they recommended registering newly installed battery. Your method may work on a second hand battery where maybe as old as your removed defect one .

This is NOT cool! The charging system learns how a battery charges and discharges. If you con it by a quick switch over, especially if the old battery was really knackered, then the system will overcharge the new battery and kill it, and probably the voltage regulator as well! This is very stupid and you clearly don’t understand the e65 system at all.
People, don't listen this. You have to code new battery. If not, problems will appear not now but after one, two years. Alternator is not charging directly the battery but from power computer. Voltage regulator is charging the battery exactly according to instructions is getting from power module!
I've heard that you can disconnect the battery for an hour or so and the computer will reset to default battery charge settings.
Don;t know if thats true so do research.
Also, disconnecting the IBS wire from the battery gets rid of that excessive battery drain message.
