Great stuff. A couple recommendations, have a GoPro on a fixed mount facing forward, another facing you and add the audio feed from your headset so that you can narrate and we can hear radio calls. It would make it more interactive and enable a fixed video versus one on your head looking all around as the only feed. Some views from your POV is good for sure. Just adds some dimension to the overall video and takes it to the next step. You could mount a camera over your head to give the POV view of you controlling the helo. Love this kind of stuff. I agree going places like you go makes me want to go back and finish up my training. :)
I wanted to be a helicopter mechanic in the service, but they assigned me to fighter jets. I still haven't had a ride in a helicopter at age 69. After watching you fly I think I'll finally rent a ride somehow, must be a pilot service around here somewhere. It won't be cheap but well worth it. Thanks
Hah. Ok adderall lips. If you're a "fighter jet mechanic" without the acronym used (LMAO!) you'd know where to get a ride. Mommas basement tier useless.

Two words of caution, although you probably already know the first one, be very careful coming up against walls. They can do fuck you things to the airflow under those blades… The other thing is, I'm not sure the people who had their cars parked right there appreciated you flying over the gravel. Definitely try to stay over the grass but seriously, this is very cool. Apparently they just let you put this thing down wherever you want where you are :-)
I wanna buy an ultralight heli, something "Cheap" (considering helicopter prices), but still get my license to fly one. I've flown in sims but never irl, even in sims they're difficult to fly (Like DCS for example). The amount of control you have over the heli just shows how experienced you are with it, nice.
Good idea lol, as a rated helicopter pilot I'll have you know that even if you buy an ultra light helicopter, you will absolutely get yourself killed if you don't go through the normal training to become a private helicopter pilot at the bare minimum. You need to have a decent feeling for autos if you wanna survive, especially in light or ultralight or homebuilt heli's
@@greenalien8503 Yeah, that’s why I mentioned that I want to get a ppl for helicopters first. It’s not much different from a full helicopter, just cheaper and lighter, having to fly at lower altitudes, etc.
In England you probably wouldn’t be able to do this, unless you had a police helicopter escort and wore a motorcycle suit and a high visibility vest and motorcycle helmet , and you had a health and safety officer sat next to you and one sat on your knee ! America is awesome 😎
Now I see why Matt has 1000 hours plus on the Robinson. Most of the videos he's showing are VFR and during the day. After the movie, it's all IFR. Finding your parking spot at the airport becomes a completely different experience at night. Kudos Matt.
Summer of 1970, Ft. Huachuca, AZ, we had night training at the US Army Combat Surveillance/Electronic Warfare School. We had Huey's for our ADSIDS and parachute delivered sensors training. One night, we flew over the Sierra Vista drive-in, hovered, and watched a few minutes of the movie that was playing. Oddly, the cars were flashing their lights at the screen and, with that and the dust, we couldn't really see much so we flew on out to the range for the night.
Ha! You rock! I've taken people to land in the back of restaurants... but never an outdoor movie theater. Thanks for the idea!!! - Commercial Helicopter Pilot, Tucson, AZ, and we're about to get a new outdoor theater in town -- woo hoo!!
There really is no set minimum for both, the minimum for speed depends on the altitude and the minimum altitude depends on the speed. There is a chart called the helicopter height velocity diagram which has certain speeds vs certain altitudes. The shaded areas of the chart represent speeds that are not safe depending on the altitude. - Hope I helped
Hey! I'm just curious, how do you deal with the safety issue of people getting curious and getting too close when you're landing or taking off. It would be a disaster if someone swung in too close to the tail rotor without realizing it's there. Regardless, great videos!
