How to play the Orleans song Dance With Me on the acoustic guitar. Rough coded music at www.daddylongles - please note that the number is the fret and the letter is the string.
Thanks for the excellent instructions on how to play this challenging song. I am a 60ish man who is improving my intermediate skill level each day. You tutorial was fantastic. You intended to instruct us and not show off. I like how you broke it into pieces and speeds. I could not have learned this challenging song without you, especially the lick at the end. You are an excellent guitarist. I am very glad you care enough to share what you are capable of hearing and playing when most of us cant. Also you did it without being a show off like so many others. I am grateful.
The straight/diagonal bit is genius! This song just popped up on Amazon Music, and I've always thought it would be way too complex for me to learn. Not any longer, thanks to you sir! Wish I had seen it when it came out.
Me encanta esa canción desde la primera vez que la escuché. Ya tengo 59 años y me trae recuerdos de mi juventud. La tocas excelente y gracias por el tutorial.
I don't know why I just found this video but, I have to say, you are using the best acoustic guitar known to mankind, the CFMartin and also, playing one of the most beautiful acoustic numbers ever composed. I had the good fortune to be able to learn this from "Fly" himself as I was working at a music store in FL where they (Orleans) came to play a show in our store one day. Great memories! Thanks mate
Awesome. Love acoustic songs with chords in many positions. Especially with great progressions. The picking and strumming are a real challenge. Great job. Helped a lot.
I grew up with Orleans and this song is my all time fave..just came across your video..you explain very thoroughly..been playing guitar since very young so I can't wait to give this a go.. nice chords too..many thanks for your skills, knowledge and teachings..🎼🎶🎸🎶🎼🎺🎶
a sunny blue sky feel good song!!! man, takes me way back to the old neighborhood.still listen to the song!' thanx for the lesson from us medium timers! (not quite old yet)
Damm I tried to play this by ear in the 1980's quite a challenge. No music sheets, guitar tabs or internet in those days.I managed to get my fingers around Classical Gas by Mason Williams (Finger style) Don't play anymore only watch you tube instrumental guitar videos'. May have to take the Ovation out of the case, wipe off the dust , re tune the nylon strings and re watch this video. Great tutorial. Thanks for the post. Liked and subscribed.
fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to upload this for the rest of us. I've always wanted to mess with this song but never had the time to sit and figure it all out. You helped with that, tremendously, thanks!!
Great job in breaking this song down and making it easier to play (with lots of practice). It was very nice of you to take the time to share such a great song and one I wanted to play for a long time. Thanks very much!
Thank you, this is so helpful. I don't think I could come this close, and even with your help, it will take some hours of work, but you have inspired me. I always loved this song when it was popular, but never attempted to play it.
I'd heard this Orleans song during my college days way back in the '95 and I'm still learning my guitar skills then then finally after long years i can take notes the chords here. Thanks for this upload video :)
Excellent tutorial! Thanks! I will have a go at it this evening. Our bassist prefers the bass line in fact. He also is an excellent guitarist but now I have to play this part. With this video I hope I can be a worthy replacement 😀
Sir this is very well done , this is the best I have seen in awhile. I will work on this song , Thank you so much for taking the time . God Bless ! Mickey !
Thank you Robert! - The guitar is a Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton signature model. It has a smallish body and I bought it in 2005 after hearing Allan Taylor play a similar model.
I played for years and stopped but now I play everyday again Thankyou for this I cannot sing and love tunes on the acoustic that have melodies so recognizable.
Thanks! You've just given me something to work on that's gonna take me a while to get down. Gives me anxiety!!! Cant wait to get home and try it out. Good cover, Dude!
Hey my friend. really appreciate the GREAT Lesson, picked it up in no time. You play all the right nuances of the piece, which is what I always try to do. You seem like a nice guy too. Thanks from Texas!

Thanks again for an excellent tutorial!

Pick the beat up, and kick your feet up
Dance with me
Let it lift you off the ground
Starry eyes, and love is all around us
I can take you where you want to go
Dance with me, I want to be your partner
Can't you see the music is just starting?
Night is falling, and I am falling
Dance with me
Let it lift you off the ground
Starry eyes, and love is all around us
I can take you if you want to go
Dance with me, I want to be your partner
Can't you see the music is just starting?
Night is falling, and I am falling
