Hey in winter the snow covered mountain of hay bails could double as Sask. tallest mountain. 😊 Great job! You really know how to manage this big operation Jan. Your Dad and Mom are truely amazing managers. That’s what makes for a great future is how you manage today!
Well done Jan! Impressive hay mountain. Nice to see a little slurry action too. Some party animals in that particular group of cows being dried off. Lovely to see. Thanks for the video!
Nice video Jan It's nice to see some of Everything in your videos including your usual jobs in the mix as well hauling liquid manure to the fields it'll take time to finish 1000 Bales and that's another way to wash your Truck's either by hand with a pressure washer or by Carwash it's nice to see you do your 2023 Raptor in the Carwash the Top Window will be fine in the Carwash procedure No problem you've shown us all both washes on your channel thanks for showing it to us Jan you and your Family is always included in my prayers..
Hi, I really enjoy every video you make. Just interested in you doing a video of your whole farm as in where you spread slurry every year since you bought the farm (is there blocks of land that get more slurry than other blocks of land) compared to further away fields or different types of soil/sandy soil and the difference sold or liquid manure has made to the farm/individual fields as less soil/sandy soil blowing away as you build up the nutrients and soil structure with the manure. Interested in you NPK status of your land and your PH of your land and how you balance this with lime, fertiliser and manure to get the best out of the great farm.
So cool how they know where to go and seem to enjoy it. Mad respect from Maine. You have a great job. Im sure its hard, smelly and you think im insane but your so lucky to work at home with your family. And you having amazing sisters, never see mo4e hard working, down to earth woman and beautiful to boot. Sure last thing you want to hear Jan but just being honest. Id have given anything to work with my family everyday. Be safe and best wishes
Great video, Jan. I would bet that you would look at a grapple to add to your big loader bucket so you could lift two bales at once, if you will bale 1,000 bales of straw every year. Saving some time. Nice job loading.
@Jan--Kielstra- If your loader hydraulics are robust enough to handle a grapple, you can lift two bales from the sides. Put the cutting edge of the bucket on the ground, slide forward into the bales, then close the grapple on top. Yes, you’ll need enough wrap on the bales so they hold together, and maybe some extra weight on the back of the loader for balance. If available grapples are too sharp, you can always dull them or add padding. I’ve seen a 2” x 6” plank U-bolted across the grapple teeth to make a flat surface for squeezing and lifting, don’t know how that works or if it is needed.
@@1striperon That's not Jan. It's a scambot. He's well aware of grapples. They have 2 wheel loaders. One of which has a grapple on it. That one stayed back at the farm, to unload the trucks, and to prepare the cattle feed.
That is an impressive mountain of bales. I had a friend hauling bales lay his semi on it’s side right in the hamlet of Golden Ridge. He was meeting an elderly couple in a motor home that were taking more than their share of road. He was almost at a stop when the back passenger set of wheels on the trailer went off the pavement and the truck just slowly laid on it’s side. A couple days later I overheard one of our crusty old truckers in the coffee shop saying “ All these farmers that think they are truckers. Any trucker knows when you are loaded you don’t give up the road for anyone! “ I had to admit he was right so if you are meeting a big rig and he is taking his fair share of road you know why. Thanks Jan.
Well you can tell your dad the extra net wrap worked for the most part! And you are a brave soul for taking your new truck through and auto wash! I always feel that the brushes put scratches in the top coat and they mess up the side mirrors! That is a nice truck for a ford though!
Wow thats a lot of bales i guess u wont have to worry about not having enough bales for a while i hope not a lot rot being stacked on top of each other like u were talking about
One thing about the roof. There are very few parts available for it so if something goes bad, you just have the whole thing replaced. Good thing its under warranty for a while.
Another wonderful video. Well done. You are an amazing hard working young man. Nice family too. You seem to always keep your cool or maybe you just don't show us some of your moods. ha ha take care.
I have a 2016 Ford Lariat be aware water travels into your door from outside windows, there are drains but I had to remove the lower plugs of the door frames to keep mine from holding water, I took it to the dealer while under warranty and they said it was normal.......lol
Too bad that you get broken bales but I guess because it is cut up straw. would be nice if you have a big trailer dump truck you could just load them in it and bring it back to the farm and bail it or what ever. Great video thanks.
Would it be possible to install 4 PERMANENT lagoon agitators in the 4 corners to really get things stirring when you are removing liquid manure? I'm sure it would cost a pretty penny, but would negate the need to hire a lagoon crawler every year and have a more consistent manure/sand ratio when hauling.
When you showed drying off the cows, there were some cows that had red marks on their back legs. Are those the cows that are being treated so you can separate their milk?

@@timothymbonham4453 As he pointed out in the video, it is more likely to rot when you stack them than if you have single rows on the ground. The reason for that is because the water does not roll off of the bales onto the ground, it ends up going into the bales because it can't roll off.
Hopefully no kids get it in their heads to clamber around on those mountains of bales. Very impressive looking. But after seeing some stories online, can never be too cautious.
I wish you could get a manure drying I have learned that water becomes clean for drinking and the Manure becomes dry. I guess Iam just radding along. A M Granny
They have around 1,000 head of cattle. Including their active milk herd, calves, heifers, dry cows and steers. They can use up to 50 to 60 straw bales a week. Many of them used for bedding their corrals, to keep their cattle healthy throughout their extremely cold winters.
wow! lots of hay!

I was trying so hard to smell my screen when you went through the wash. Love the smell of that rainbow soap!
H U G E pile of bales!!!! Love the ride through the carwash. I had no idea the entire roof is moon roof….way cool!, Rob
I’m glad you was able to get a big inventory of straw. You can never have too much! Great job👍

It was nice hauling for you guys it went really well!! ❤
Dang, that's a ton of bales 😮😮😮. Keep up the great videos!
The work never ends.
Great job piling the bales on the trailer. Glad you have a good supply of product. Thanks for the great video.
really awesome video Jan. Nice shack of hay.
Great my friend and happy weekend 👍
Great to see a nice stockpile of bales. I’m sure it’ll be nice not having any worries about running out.
Nice closing sunset shot from the car wash...

I would recommend putting around 4 1/2 to 5 wraps on the bales. That is what we do when we never have problems.
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊😊
Hello all fellow drivers.
Wishing you all good health, good luck, peace and happiness
Congrats on the great bale move.
Good looking Truck Good job .
Wow thats a lot of bales i guess u wont have to worry about not having enough bales for a while i hope not a lot rot being stacked on top of each other like u were talking about
Jan glad I was able to see her first bath!😂😅 Love the truck!! 👍👍👍👍
11:02 I would cover the 500 bales next to the silage pits under plastic.
They would mold
Good video.
Have a great weekend from the imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄

I love your new truck! You deserve it.
Jan, if that were my truck I would be washing it myself. I always think those car washes will scratch.
Nice truck though. Safe driving.
Nice truck good stuff
Question m: how and when do you apply the manure slurry to your various crop fields? How do you avoid toxicity? Thanks!
Be careful of Fire! One goes, they all go.
Good work
Great shot of dad grabbin his junk😂😂
He asks for a screw driver, and then found one... 🤣?

AWESOME!
I don’t know jan… might be time to invest in a loader tractor or two for the bale jobs. Makes a world of difference
Awesome job

Also lets see some more raptor donuts😂😂😂😂😂

@@ithecastic Point them all in a clockwise direction in each corner and you would create a whirlpool current effect.
You got your windshild fixed.
What is better for the soil nutrient wise -liquid or solid manure?
Farmers here in Ireland are not using antibiotics on cows to dry off unless they have to I myself only use on ten per sent of cows it working
Selective treatment is practiced by some farms here in North America as well. One of them being 10th Generation Dairyman's farm.
Hi Jan, this is stress, but you defeated him superbly. Excellent performance. Don't worry, a FORD glass roof is 100% tight.🛻🛻🛻😀😀😀
Glad you will have enough feed for the girls.
Jan, How do you know when the manure spreader is full ?
It starts splashing out
When you showed drying off the cows, there were some cows that had red marks on their back legs. Are those the cows that are being treated so you can separate their milk?
Yes.
On average how long will the cows lactate, before you dry them up for the next go around?
305 days.
When you get to the end of the car wash, you are supposed to open all the windows so it will blow all the dust and trash out of the cab! 😂
That's alot of big Shreaded Wheat.
Cheers.

Awesome job Jan. Is your Dad gonna buy a Raptor?
liquid manure does provide Nitrogen to soil but it does not provide Potassium & Phosphate sufficiently to soil # ❤️🇵🇰
Black gold 🥇
JUN! WHAT CAR WASH WAS THAT??? I've never seen one that looks that good in saskatoon!
For how long will this straw last your farm? Seems like a lot! Thank you.
They have enough for a year. They use around 50 to 60 bales per week. through the winter. (A lot of them for bedding the corrals)
WOW!!!!!!
New house new truck u tube was good to you this year
Would you say that the extra wrap on these bails was worth the expensive? 20 broken bails out of 1000 is not bad.
Can you throw some plastic over the top of the bales to help prevent rotting? Or is it too expensive to make it not worth it?
Best option is to wrap it but that's expensive too and putting a tarp over whould probably rot even more
Rotting usually starts from the bottom -- the bottom bales absorb moisture from sitting on the ground, and that starts rotting.
@@timothymbonham4453
As he pointed out in the video, it is more likely to rot when you stack them than if you have single rows on the ground. The reason for that is because the water does not roll off of the bales onto the ground, it ends up going into the bales because it can't roll off.
Always great videos, What did U do with your other truck…I thought U would keep the Raptor for city and white for farm…?
The man the mith lol you have good day yan
6:35 I would have totally mounted two spears instead of the one.
👍👍❤🐮

Boss how many acres of land do you farm hay
I am in the USA and this video is stressful with bails granny
I live in the country so I have a monthly car wash subscription.
How much calfs you get per month byw nice video
They expect to have around 32 calves per month. However, they recently had 24 calves in 12 days.
Haulin' As$!!!
Jan could have bought a cheaper truck and saved himself a lot of stress, buy getting a good set of bale forks or a grapple on for that loader!
❤

The liquid manure is used for fertilizer. No advantage to drying and they can use all the moisture they can get over in Saskatchewan.
looks like you need a propper bale spike
I bet that smells good 😖
holy hay...
Jan, John 🤔
TWO GOOD DAYS FOR THE OWNERS OF BLACK TRUCKS.. THE DAY HE BUYS IT, AND THE DAY HE SELLS IT!! WHAT IN THE FOC WERE YOU THINKING!
How many cows for 1000 bales?

Why not square bales
Round bales are less prone to rotting out in the weather. Square bales have to be kept dry.
How many kms on the new truck now
What's causing your bales to collapse?
A cousin of mine was working on a farm in Northern Alberta. Had one of those round bales roll on top of him. Killed him.
0:01 Is she limping?
You really need a better bale fork.
Why not get a fork that will load two at a time
💀Bale Killer💀
Jan, the Ladies will love all that bedding and YOU may just love less sand in the manure pit!?
There will still be the same amount of sand in the lagoon. As it's from the free stall barn. They bed with sand year round.
