And then proceed to explain nothing about the actual move being done, which is what he uses to bait people's interest in the first place. Easy channel block in other words.
That input is the GG motion input, named so because it was popularized by Guilty Gear, being used for many character's supers, as well as Potemkin buster

@@misantrope6267 it's the exact same concept. if you're player 2, that input would be reversed. everyone speaks presuming player 1 position. Notice that I-No from GG is in a lot of these examples. She's a hoverdash character with multiple complicated inputs and tricks to change her movement. Numbers would be way easier to explain her regardless of language.
This is about the only part of the metagame I understood while learning to play fighting games. Good notation for how concise it is, though that certainly didn’t help me remember what I was supposed to use any of the moves for, when to use them, etc. lol.
I've casually played fighting games for at least 5 years, and never knew the number layout was the same as a numpad, thank you for teaching me that the first input in the video is simply half circle back forward
Unfortunately for you, the Internet and sharing information isn’t only populated by English speakers and unless you want to gatekeep the sharing of information surrounding fighting games to only English speakers, notation will continue to be a language agnostic way to share said information.
@@ZulyGD I had never actually thought about it that way, Ive just never heard notation before getting into Guilty Gear so it’s hard for me to change my brain, thats a really good reason for notation though.
As someone who is new to fighting games (outside of casual play sessions), the first time I heard people use these notations I was extremely confused. I understood the P,K,S etc but I finally understand what the numbers mean now. Very informative!

I know everyone's said it already but this is actually such a good loop and the video is very informative, I actually understood exactly what it meant when it looped, good work
This is a great explanation, I remember first getting into guilty gear and not knowing all the notations used in videos to teach how to be better at the game and was lost for a long while without figuring it out
And then theres tekken where the notation is the otherway around, Numbers are strikes and letter are movement, for example, with hwo i usually open with f1+2, b3, b4, 1 1 d1 wr2, or if im feeling lucky, ff d df f3
The people who say "notation is stupid" will soon realise its not when they start typing out the undescriptive names of moves or typing the directions over and over.
Theres a reason we use numbers, it creates an instant distinction between the movement and the attack button. You know that the number part of 236H is the movement, and that the H part of 236H is the attack type.
Played Street fighter and melty and just got Strive yesterday. Never knew anything numerical notation though, thank you for the creative and informative video 🙏🏽 (I rarely see anyone mention Melty lol)

Good, finally something to decrypt the sikrit language of Guilty Gear to me, since I am a beginner. It is an interesting way to shorten combo names, rather than writing down name after name (since some names can be long OR some players, me included, don't bother with the move names, rather using their own names for them). Thank you, keep up the good work and keep cuddling the world with your vibe! Hugs! >:D< Now I can understand and better note down characters' combos. As for now, back to my main.
Those of u still confused the input at the beginning its basically just the stick drawing a semicircle and then using an attack to perform a super. The controller stick goes from right, down right, down, down left, left, and right again
