There is absolutely no reason. Once you have an original sculpt, you can make high quality mould and do resin follow up. Painting is tricky, but the amount of paint used is abysmally small. If they made custom figurine from premium materials like polystone, marble and stone, and applied hand brushing each time - that would warrant the price but would also provide for serial differences due to nature of handcrafted items - they will have small kinks and varieties. Mould allows you to remake the shape fast with low production costs. And utilizing partitioning machines can apply color precisely. As someone who collects figures (mostly from Good Smile Company) it's so cool to see the process on how they make these figures. Their attention to detail is just amazing, makes me appreciate nendoroids more. Thank you for showing us this!

@@harvestmoon_autumnsky This. I’ve found out about so many jobs and potential careers on tiktok and UA-cam that I would have otherwise NEVER known about. I feel kinda defeated not having had access to this information even just a few years earlier…well better knowing now than never I support. Literally every single thing in our lives has people behind it making it possible, and that thought blows my mind each and every time. From the dye in our foods that we aren’t aware of, to the fonts we use when typing, to the design of every single part of public life and private life.
I'm currently teaching in a school for deaf kids as a teacher of English, it's a full time job. I love my job, but the salary is so low that I can't make a living with it. Third world countries issues are real...If your job allows you to support yourself and your family, then I hope you have a better appreciation for it after reading my comment.
Well, imagine that you studied character creation and makeup for movies like the boy with colored hair and that you used and studied that same program (Blender) and make renders in your free time as in my case BUT it is useless because you live in a small Spanish town with few possibilities and people pressure you to be useful to society and you work washing dirty heads in a hairdresser with studies of characterization and FX. I want to die watching this
I have a LOT of GSC statues and nendo. One i have was that Sakura you shown right here. And now i know who made her too :) I prefer detailed statues instead nendo btw
@@MarieKleverBreivik no, any names in older Nendos nor figurine boxes, the recent ones i dunno (i mean the 2nd half 2022's)... But he's the one in the video
You have outdone yourself now Paolo. As a figure collector myself (i even have the hiei figure he showed) this video was EVERYTHING TO ME. Thanks for it!!
The president has such a cool office! So big with some nice couches and bikes hanging on the walls. And the president seems very chill and friendly! The whole workplace seems pretty laidback and chill compared to most Japanese companies.
It'd probably be very hard, and even if he does, there is a good chance he'll need to wait several months if he does, unless he manages to get something a bit smaller profile like voice acting for an advertisement. Full anime would be a long wait, considering how much that industry wants to keep things private.
Whilst I'm a lil late to watching this, Paolo, thanks for doing this video, I have been collecting nendos recently (especially the video game series ones) and honestly I wish I could tell Sho and the others who sculp the nendoroids a big thank you for their hard work. I love how much thought and effort went into them.
I'm surprised by the lack of figures in his apartment for someone who makes them for a living. Also this man puts more effort into facial skin care than his diet.
I mean, it's easier to have a load of mangas in a small apartment than figures. Also, he already makes them where he works so a bunch of them are displayed there. There's nothing wrong with putting on skincare either, but you're right about putting more effort into his diet. It can cause severe health problems later on in his life.
As someone who sculpts figures independently for a living, I found this video fascinating. It was really cool to see how things are done within a professional company setting in another country.
Do you have a ventilation system like his? I think it's a good idea. The artist who was using an airgun to spraypaint that figure - his hand was shaking. I kept thinking the poor guy's probably got brain damage, lung damage, nerve damage. There should be strict rules about ventilators and wearing PPE for a job like that.
Now this is cool to see how figures from a topnotch company are produced, good smile is basically the go-to manufacturer for anyone wants to buy a well designed figure, and their lineup is just crazy, new sets of figures every month.
I still can't get over the fact that he only eats an ice cream all day. Then finally has dinner which is still not that big of a meal. Please tell me that a meal was skipped that us viewers did not see. But that aside, his career looks awesome. I'd love to do something like that
Probably because his work doesn’t require exerting much physical energy and stuff .Compared to people who work in factories and other jobs that you’d be using a lot of your force and energy.Coz if this is in a factory we would faint for sure..😄
I have a similar diet (although I prefer vegetables). Yesterday I just had a bit of bread for lunch and noodles with a salad for dinner. If you are not that big and not doing extensive manual labour you can live with around 2000 calories a day. Atleast that is what I am doing.
11:55 he's the creator of that master piece?! Omg, I'm fangirling too much right now. I'm not into anime figures, but that Sakura Cardcaptor figure is just absolutely amazing and it's the first time I've thought it's worth throwing money to buy it ❤️
that's amazing huge thanks to these sculptors for their amazing work!! im a huge fan of nendoroids and i've got roughly 20 figures, I can't wait for the 4th season of attack on titan to get their own nendoroid series ❤️❤️
And how do you know what MOST salarymen in Japan feel?😂 So typically Western. I’m thinking that could be said about a lot of office workers in America. Too bad people have to watch this great series just to make negative remarks.
@@kuroneko7022 well, most salaryman is stressed abt their job.im saying "MOST",not "ALL". im not making negative remarks, just speaking out my mind.if that offended you, thats not my problem
I'm impressed by his dedicated level of natural passion. Most people don't work 8hrs to go home and enjoy work as a hobby for an extra couple of hours. Its admirable.
This really shows why anime figures are so expensive, handcrafted by professionals for months and they are not that many workers either, also Sho reads Tokyo Revengers, respect this man of culture!!!
Sorry to be “That Guy” but these figures are cranked out in a factory. Good Smile does have some Japan based factories to control Knock offs. Granted the time and attention put into the prototypes is very high. But the only hand made is the one they ship to the factory for a model.
I really enjoy how you filmed this piece. Very detailed, organized, and fun. I liked that you were able to adventure out to different areas and speak with other workers. Im almost jealous of Sho, but mostly happy for him. Thanks for all the work put into this video
Been a fan and collector of Nendoroids for almost as long as its entire run, so this video gives me a warm fuzzy feeling watching how cool their work environment looks.
Love the inside look at how these amazing people make art and how humble and creative they all are. Thanks so much for sharing and I cant wait for further adventures.
I absolutely love your show! This specific episode gave me anxiety though LOL Here in America doing your job in general is going above and beyond. In Japan it seems like the standard is so high that perfection is the only acceptable outcome.
As he is doing what he loves, he also needs to start taking care of his health, eating just ice cream and surviving the whole day can have bad effects in the long term. Lastly, he is cute :D
He's young so he can get away with it at the moment. Plus he's very thin, so obesity is not an issue. He's keeping his calorie count at a good place but I worry vitamins and minerals are lagging. Eventually that could affect his eyesight which would be terrible for that particular profession.
Nindroids are my favorite kind of figures in my collection. There so fun, super cute, and customizable! It's neat to see how they make them in this video.
Wow! I LOVE good smile figurines and nendoroids are my absolute favourite! I love the attention to detail and it was EPIC to watch one of these master's and his co-workers at work. Incredible! Thanks for posting this video it was so cool.

vegetables aren't good for you lol, common misconception from modern society. People don't know anything about health... animal products are the only things that are "healthy" nowadays
This was really good. I wasn’t aware that the environment of an anime figure maker was like this. For some reason imagined it to be even more spaced out or perhaps a lot more stressful. This actually has got to be the nicest office space I’ve seen so far out of any of these videos. It looks really nice and contemporary modern with a good balance level of expression when considering it is in Japan. It looks like a good working environment despite having to make so many figures and it seems like the deadlines are pretty good. Not to mention the fact that he doesn’t have to go in super early or stay too late. Because it makes sense considering this is more Art than anything IT or animation related. They understand that this work takes time and they’ve been given that time to actually do the work. This isn’t the kind of job for me I think (although there’s probably a version of me in another universe that is doing this I bet), but I would definitely like to work somewhere within the anime or film sector and it would be cool to work with this company eventually. It’s amazing just how many recognisable products they have made. Absolutely awesome. I would definitely like to see if all the other anime figure companies are like this or whether Good Smile Company is more of the exception.
What an awesome job. Especially being a collector and modeller. It was cool seeing he is using the exact same products I do from the airbrushes to the tamiya putty and how they are working on figures I have seen on the website and ordered. Crazy. I would love to do this job.

It'd probably be very hard, and even if he does, there is a good chance he'll need to wait several months if he does, unless he manages to get something a bit smaller profile like voice acting for an advertisement. Full anime would be a long wait, considering how much that industry wants to keep things private.
