Today a shipment including free suits, some still with tags today. All the gentleman wanted was the shipping cost. If I like the few he sends, he'll send me more!!! It's amazing the generosity of people. The back story is that I'm on permanent disability for MS, but still suiting up everyday helps me feel purposeful, and was reconvene to due so. This gentleman totally understood the psychological component.
I'm really glad to read that. It's incredible how much taking care of one's appearance makes for our self-esteem and confidence. It really is amazing to find such generosity from a random stranger and I'm glad you did. But don't sell yourself short either, you can't change MS but you can change your attitude towards it and you really have and are owning your life. I tip my hat to you, Sir. All the best.
Cracking info- ebay has been my menswear superpower! It's how I got my barracuta G9, a beautiful Austin Reed winter coat for ~£20, down from ~£150, and if I play my cards right I'll get a Suitsupply blazer for about a fiver. Quality Content as always, chaps!
I managed to get a jacket from Hayward's which was on mount Street (one over from saville row) that originally cost £1500 for about £20 on eBay. Never be afraid of buying second hand!
19:35 super secret trick: if the seller is like most people, they don't know specific niche things. If the label from a brand differs for those things, searching the label terms sometimes shows under-priced items. The seller might only know to include the terms because they're different and seem important by a consequence of that.
Thank you so much for this information! Thanks to your techniques, I was able to get a mint condition Custom Martin Greenfield Deep Charcoal Pinstripe Hand Tailored Suit in my size for $200. I told my tailor and she gasped and dropped her tools in shock.

My other advice is to set up email alerts that tell me when new listing appear for saved searches, that way I don’t have to check up manually on general searches.
Immediately after seeing this I went on Ebay and wishlisted a couple of tweed jackets. I got discount from 150 pounds to 100 pounds within an hour on one of two items I watched :D Been on Ebay for 10 years and didn't know that sellers offer discounts this way. But I never shopped for clothing here. Thanks for the advice!
I love this!! I'd love it if you did more videos about vintage clothing. Recently I've been collecting ties from the 1930's on Ebay, and these tips encourage me to expand beyond that. Thanks for the excellent content as always!
Following your advice I have had a lot of success buying quality vintage clothes. My best purchase was a vintage MTM fresco suit by Gieves and Hawkes. This came with a notched lapel jacket and two pairs of trousers, one with turn ups and one without. Both trousers have side adjusters and buttons inside the waist for braces. Every time I wear this suit I feel great and receive a lot of compliments.
For web browsing and basic office applications any modern PC should do. Even for Windows 10 and lots of open browser tabs, 4 GB are sufficient as long as the page file (virtual RAM) is large enough. Of course, more GBs will increase the performance of your PC as it reduces swapping to and from the page file. Modern OSs will also use most of the free RAM for caching disk access, so it will often appear that it is all used, when in fact only part of it is allocated by applications and the rest can be freed quickly if needed.
@@IkeFoxbrush I have no idea on what you mean by many tabs. In my definition 50+ tabs is many tabs. If you use Chrome, passing 10 GB is very easy. in 2020 16 GB should be the bare minimum. 10 years ago I used 8 GB and would pass the limit easily not idea how you can get away with just 4 GB that is not enough for Chrome web browsing in my use case.
How do you tell the difference between orphaned clothing and blazers or other singular pieces? I thought suits were just cut from the same cloth. Oh god and I've been following you for a while! That outfit looks so well structured together! I wouldn't have expected that was all from eBay
@ubiquitous panda. Suits are cut from the same piece of cloth, which is the reason why you should not Dry Cleaner the suit coat and trousers separately. Or they'll end up different colours. While Blazers and Jackets are entirely different to suit coats/jackets, many Department Stores sell the suit jacket as a separate item, because they are popular to wear with chinos. But traditional suit manufacturers usually made Blazers and Sports Jackets slightly shorter than the same size fitting in a suit coat. Not that anyone seems to care in this century. Phil.
This is legit. I just reloaded on business wardrobe after years working from home and hammered pre-owned high quality clothes on ebay. This video is spot-on. Sophisticated sellers (there are many) give reliable quality measurements. You can do alterations, return sometimes, and be willing to accept some misses. Good sellers show photos of the measurements. Pay close attention to the photos; look carefully. Shoes and belts too. Pennies on the dollar for timeless items. Also, never pay asking price. Always offer low. Just watchlisting an item will result in reduced offers from sellers. Never offer asking price at first.
I found this video to be the most useful, to me, of all your videos. Some of these tips I’d already discovered on my own but there was some real gold in this video. Thanks, Raphael! Also, it would be great if eBay sellers would start using the “half back” measurement for jackets. This would be especially useful for those of us who are not built like Olympic swimmers or body builders.
I look forward to part two! Inlove eBay since it has allowed me to dress up for super cheap :) 5 bucks for a nice italian made suit, and 20 for the alterations
I'm learning how to tailor my own clothing, I go to thrift stores and find GREAT sports coats then just alter it (for suits, I rather buy it bespoke or MTM online)
Bro, I applaude you. I had the same idea about learning to tailor my own clothing. I took a few private classes and now really appreciate the work my tailor does. Anything over hemming a pair of straight leg pants just proved to be too much.
I was really lucky to find a vintage Italian linen suit in my exact size on eBay, I've worn it a lot since I got it, I would recommend eBay for young menswear enthusiasts on a budget.
28:26 Good call on buying from the same seller. I gave up with Lands End since alot of their sizing was all over the place. Found someone selling my exact size and turns out he had 4 pairs of the same pants for like $20 bucks.. Well worth it...
I tried brioni and zegna jackets in a store once, loved the quality but too expensive for me. I searched on ebay and was surprised on the price difference. I have remade my wardrobe almost from scratch with high quality items 95% off retail in the last 2 years. Now I have 3 sport jackets (2 brioni, 1 zegna), 2 suits (brioni and attolini) about 10 -12 high end shirts, ferragamo leather blazer... and a few other pieces of nice clothing. Excellent tips! Very thorough and helpful! I also find that knowing your brands can help you to locate extraordinary deals on items that have poor photos and descriptions. I have often purchased exquisite items that remained unsold and dropped heavily in price because the photos looked unappealing, ie wrinkles, bad lighting, or poor white balance that makes items look yellowish or greenish. Also, prices tend to be cheaper on used menswear during the summer and in January as those are slow seasons for tailored clothing.
Very clever and well-done. however, I'm starting to have trouble with ordering online in spite of the recommendations .. i prefer to buy something in person off the rack than to have to repack and lug returns back to the usps. In theory, an excellent approach though. I will keep trying.

Dear Swen, I have never thought of buying used clothes, especially from ebay. My question is, would you recommend having s/h clothes dry cleaned before wearing them? Anway, I can't wait to look on ebay, but I'm sure the choice will be very limited on the UK ebay site compared to the USA. Thank you for another most intersting video. You come over as a really nice chap.
Thanks for the great tips, Rafael! Just a small note, technically the ToS of eBay prohibit negotiating prices through other than the "make an offer" feature. I'm not entirely sure of this and may be wrong, but I vividly recall this rule. While you likely won't get in trouble, it's again very important to be respectful towards the seller, otherwise they may get annoyed enough to file a report against you for that.
I can understand that there will be discrepancies between companies regarding size measurements such as "large" or "medium", etc.. But I cannot see why 42" is different! I mean, an inch is an inch, isn't it?
@16:13 regarding the crashing browser: many browsers nowadays have the option to start with the tabs from the last session, so when they crash and you start them up again, chances are good you get your tabs back. Also they might be configured to only load a tab upon activating, so when you start with 20 tabs on a new browser (after a crash), each page would be loaded when activated so you don't immediately have a crash again.
Just messaged a seller on eBay on an item not set to allow offers. Received an offer for the exact price requested within an hour. Very good condition black AE park Avenues for $85 shipped with tax Thanks!
Great content. I need your help as I would like to pick up a nice suit. I stopped in a nice shop and the clerk was helpful. The clerk had me try on several jackets and we found the size that fit well 42reg with a drop 8. He did not have that in black or blue and told me that the shop is experiencing supply issues. Its been a few weeks and since then I ran across your site. So, how do I shop for those measurements on line effectively? Thank you, great content.

Also they might be configured to only load a tab upon activating, so when you start with 20 tabs on a new browser (after a crash), each page would be loaded when activated so you don't immediately have a crash again.
My problem with ebay is the shipping is so high these days, in japan second hand items go for near new prices...
You know Raphael is a chrome power user because he has 64gb of ram! Great video!
Just messaged a seller on eBay on an item not set to allow offers. Received an offer for the exact price requested within an hour.
Very good condition black AE park Avenues for $85 shipped with tax
Thanks!
Are there new rules about shoe color with suit/outfit colors? I was taught that you didn’t wear brown with blue or black you wore black or Cordovan.
One of the most practical videos of all; Bravo Sven and the GG team!
Great video! Important EBay points to consider!

For example when I'm buying ralphblaitem?
Great content. I need your help as I would like to pick up a nice suit. I stopped in a nice shop and the clerk was helpful. The clerk had me try on several jackets and we found the size that fit well 42reg with a drop 8. He did not have that in black or blue and told me that the shop is experiencing supply issues. Its been a few weeks and since then I ran across your site. So, how do I shop for those measurements on line effectively? Thank you, great content.
Now this is quality content.
Finally after following the channel for 4 years.
Raphael is making waves, baby!
I noticed a lot of errors in the subtitles, I wish I could correct them. I think the trouble is mishearing his strong accent and also he speaks fast.
Thank you Raphael for sharing and advising it was very useful to me.
Great video! Awesome color jacket by the way.
Outstanding primer on Ebay strategy for finding excellent men's fashion garments and a lot more to boot! I myself am a believer having bought and restored some extraordinary high quality shoes for a song and clothing articles as well. Thank you, and killer suit BTW!
This is such great information for those on a low budget like me. So thank you very much for making this video!!!
I would like to see Denim Jacket Guide - how to buy it, style, and history.

Here's a tip for new clothes - be a really off size so you can get stuff on clearance. Need a white OCBD in 16/34 from Brooks Brothers and want it on a clearance sale? Yeah good luck. Need one in 14/30 or 19/38? They might have that.
😂
This is extremely valuable information!
Great article and very interesting and usefull. I'm allways afraid buying through Internet because of the sizes of whatever ítem I like.
At 6’5” and 230 lbs unfortunately there is never anything in my size, 48XL with 37 inch inseam, and 37 inch sleeve length.
