      for shoes, crocket & jones, early pairs of churches, alden, lof & tung, Carlos Santos, John Lobb, Tods, Vass, Herring, Carmina, Edward green, Meermin, Loake, and Suitsupply. For clothing, It really depends on what you enjoy, but I quite like J crew, though for the most part, their suiting options look better on slimmer builds do to slim lapels, piti parma, suit supply, ministry of supply, spier and mackay. uniqlo, banana republic, prada. All options I thoroughly enjoy. Thanks again Sven!

      For suits and jackets, brand is great but fit is king. I have some cheapos from Jos A Bank, Gap, and Banana Republic that fit as well as or better than my high end ones. As for brands, I like finding Brooks Brothers 1818 and Country Club, vintage Hart Schaffner Marx, Hickey Freeman and Canali.

It's amazing the generosity of people. The back story is that I'm on permanent disability for MS, but still suiting up everyday helps me feel purposeful, and was reconvene to due so. This gentleman totally understood the psychological component.

      For web browsing and basic office applications any modern PC should do. Even for Windows 10 and lots of open browser tabs, 4 GB are sufficient as long as the page file (virtual RAM) is large enough. Of course, more GBs will increase the performance of your PC as it reduces swapping to and from the page file. Modern OSs will also use most of the free RAM for caching disk access, so it will often appear that it is all used, when in fact only part of it is allocated by applications and the rest can be freed quickly if needed.

    • @cla1814
      @cla1814 2 роки тому

      @@IkeFoxbrush I have no idea on what you mean by many tabs. In my definition 50+ tabs is many tabs.
      If you use Chrome, passing 10 GB is very easy. in 2020 16 GB should be the bare minimum. 10 years ago I used 8 GB and would pass the limit easily not idea how you can get away with just 4 GB that is not enough for Chrome web browsing in my use case.

    19:35 super secret trick: if the seller is like most people, they don't know specific niche things. If the label from a brand differs for those things, searching the label terms sometimes shows under-priced items. The seller might only know to include the terms because they're different and seem important by a consequence of that.

    Following your advice I have had a lot of success buying quality vintage clothes.
    My best purchase was a vintage MTM fresco suit by Gieves and Hawkes. This came with a notched lapel jacket and two pairs of trousers, one with turn ups and one without. Both trousers have side adjusters and buttons inside the waist for braces.
    Every time I wear this suit I feel great and receive a lot of compliments.

    Excellent tips! Very thorough and helpful! I also find that knowing your brands can help you to locate extraordinary deals on items that have poor photos and descriptions. I have often purchased exquisite items that remained unsold and dropped heavily in price because the photos looked unappealing, ie wrinkles, bad lighting, or poor white balance that makes items look yellowish or greenish. Also, prices tend to be cheaper on used menswear during the summer and in January as those are slow seasons for tailored clothing.

    @16:13 regarding the crashing browser: many browsers nowadays have the option to start with the tabs from the last session, so when they crash and you start them up again, chances are good you get your tabs back. Also they might be configured to only load a tab upon activating, so when you start with 20 tabs on a new browser (after a crash), each page would be loaded when activated so you don't immediately have a crash again.

    Dear Swen, I have never thought of buying used clothes, especially from ebay. My question is, would you recommend having s/h clothes dry cleaned before wearing them? A friend once gave me his good quality shoes which no longer fitted him. But wearing shoes from someone you don't know, well, I'm not sure I would be too happy that! Anway, I can't wait to look on ebay, but I'm sure the choice will be very limited on the UK ebay site compared to the USA. Thank you for another most intersting video. You come over as a really nice chap.

    28:26 Good call on buying from the same seller. I gave up with Lands End since alot of their sizing was all over the place. Found someone selling my exact size and turns out he had 4 pairs of the same pants for like $20 bucks.. Well worth it...

    I got a wool ovsrcoat in herringbone this way, shopping for used or pre-owned garments. The lining had a tear, which is no big deal for me, I can fix that and nobody sees it. Total: $2 equivalent.

    Rafael, I just wanna buy your items which make a lot of sense.
    But then I have to watch all your videos again so I remember how to combine them.
    Are there pictures, like a catalog/compilation of you showing the combinations like in the videos?

    Very clever and well-done. however, I'm starting to have trouble with ordering online in spite of the recommendations .. i prefer to buy something in person off the rack than to have to repack and lug returns back to the usps. In theory, an excellent approach though. I will keep trying.

    This is legit. I just reloaded on business wardrobe after years working from home and hammered pre-owned high quality clothes on ebay. This video is spot-on. Sophisticated sellers (there are many) give reliable quality measurements. You can do alterations, return sometimes, and be willing to accept some misses. Good sellers show photos of the measurements. Pay close attention to the photos; look carefully. Shoes and belts too. Pennies on the dollar for timeless items. Also, never pay asking price. Always offer low. Just watchlisting an item will result in reduced offers from sellers. Never offer asking price at first.

    How do you tell the difference between orphaned clothing and blazers or other singular pieces?
    I thought suits were just cut from the same cloth. Oh god and I've been following you for a while!
    That outfit looks so well structured together! I wouldn't have expected that was all from eBay

    • @phillipmoodie9071
      @phillipmoodie9071 4 роки тому +2

      @ubiquitous panda. Suits are cut from the same piece of cloth, which is the reason why you should not Dry Cleaner the suit coat and trousers separately. Or they'll end up different colours.
      While Blazers and Jackets are entirely different to suit coats/jackets, many Department Stores sell the suit jacket as a separate item, because they are popular to wear with chinos.
      But traditional suit manufacturers usually made Blazers and Sports Jackets slightly shorter than the same size fitting in a suit coat. Not that anyone seems to care in this century. Phil.

    I’ve noticed on eBay, at least in 🇬🇧 that “sports coat/jacket” brings up Adidas jackets and sportswear so filtering is key!

    Great content. I need your help as I would like to pick up a nice suit. I stopped in a nice shop and the clerk was helpful. The clerk had me try on several jackets and we found the size that fit well 42reg with a drop 8. He did not have that in black or blue and told me that the shop is experiencing supply issues. Its been a few weeks and since then I ran across your site. So, how do I shop for those measurements on line effectively? Thank you, great content.

    I'm learning how to tailor my own clothing, I go to thrift stores and find GREAT sports coats then just alter it (for suits, I rather buy it bespoke or MTM online)

      Bro, I applaude you. I had the same idea about learning to tailor my own clothing. I took a few private classes and now really appreciate the work my tailor does. Anything over hemming a pair of straight leg pants just proved to be too much.
