Updating Windows XP RTM in 2023

- Today we're going to install every single update that was ever released for Windows XP, bringing a clean RTM installation (with no service packs applied) to a fully updated one that also includes the POSReady 2009 patches.
To bring back the Windows Update functionality we're going to use Legacy Updater (legacyupdate.net), a utility that lets us update older Windows versions exactly the way they were intended.
Thanks for watching!

I love how I'm just sitting here watching someone update their PC just to see Windows XP.
Had the exact same feeling and asked myself in which radius of my current location other people would think the same. Will be more or less no one :(
Me too. I am a huge fan of Windows XP, and it is my favourite version of Windows from all time.
Awesome, I love Windows XP ❤️🥳
I know Microsoft has discontinued their older operating systems, but there's a lot of machines out there that require the older operating system (machinist milling machine comes to mind). It would be nice if Microsoft still allowed you to at least update a new install of an old OS. I've tried to download their archived software but it's nearly impossible. Even if they had a ISO download of all the updates would be nice. The legacyupdater website looks nice but I need to know if it's safe.
From what I’ve read, legacy updater just brings back the ability to look for updates. The updates themselves still come from Microsoft’s servers.
Legacy Update is like sliced bread but for Windows XP. If it wasn't safe I wouldn't be using it since november of last year and the community would have discovered it.
If by miracle WIndows XP code leaks - mark my words, people will recompile the code for x64 properly (looking at you, buggy Windows XP Professional x64), repatch it, remove the bloat and add compatibility layer for newer apps. People already can adapt games from Windows to Linux to some extent so technology already exists. That thing would be simple as scalpel yet made of adamantium and would cut as plasma cutter.
x64 was actually Server 2003.
It already leaked back in 2020 anyway.
@@0xC4aE1e5 Server 2003 had no such problems as desktop version. Well, if it is already leaked - I couldn't be more happier, only time will tell then. With Microsoft trying to witch hunt everything trying to endanger their supreme reign on desktop market it's hard to expect fast progress on this matter. People will be doing it in secret.
Yep. The miracle already happened
This will be best os in the black market
It leaked in 2020, microsoft is very protective of it though
Back then, I actually did update Windows XP RTM from the Windows update website with the Windows Update Agent patch. However, I still have a lot of XP RTM update files on my external HDD (except for Service Packs and POSReady 2009 Updates).
There was also a post-RTM build probably made before SP1, which is Build 2600.41, with no difference other than the inclusion of Toshiba's USB 2.0 drivers, which is so far not yet been dumped.
Is this necessary. If I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3 already?
Is there a Service Pack 3 for the x64-Bit version of Windows XP?
No
I have stormcad software 1997 that runs on win95 or nt, it ran in xpmode in windows 7 x64, but printing output reports were not formatted as in the original 95/NT. I can dedicate a lenovo T510 laptop to run this. Do you think it will run in this XP RTM? Big thanks.
You could try installing XP and then using compatibility mode to set it as Windows 95/NT4 if it doesn't work by default
Thanks, will try @@NTDEV
Isn't there a Service Pack 4? If so, is it unofficial, or official?
SP4 is unofficial. Other official patches beyond SP3 are for Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 (for bank ATMs and other industry equipment) which could be integrated to Professional version with some finesse.
How do you get rid of the zero day activation bug in RTM?
probably set the clock back before installation, activated windows, then set the clock forward
@@LKComputes oh okay
so... windows xp does not have "windows is installing updates" screen on shutdown and login screen like newer version of windows? interesting
They didnt add that until they moved WU into the OS with Vista
In fact you have an "Installing Update X of X", but only if you don't manually install them via the UI and let Windows doing it at shutdown.
Yes it does, if you set WU to download updates but install them later. Then you can chose an extra option in the shutdown dialog.
i like it
what the benefit of this update?
- to get support usb 3.0 ?
- to get xp using 16gb ram ?
- to get xp support newer web browser ?
- to get xp support win10 drivers for new hardware attachment?

is TinyXP Coming Soon? 🤔
No.
xp is already tiny, it still could be made way smaller though, but it's kinda pointless
@@terdik36 For 2046 machines Tiny11 is also useless. There are stripped down versions of XP but I trusted the NTDEV team more.
