    With each rewatch, I fall more in love with Bridgette's monologue.

      @@kosherwatermelonproductions I honestly wasn't a fan of the monologue the first time I saw it, but it kept getting better and better with each rewatch - especially as Maddie goes into detail about their transformation!

    Justice is gorgeous, Bridgette is gorgeous, both super talented. The analyses here is great. The reverse arc is something I identify with, speaking about it really sells the movie for me.

      @@Smharry92 the colors, the acting, the soundtrack, the nostalgia, the suburban dread, the sadness, the acknowledgement of existential dread and how if you deviate only a little from society it just makes that feeling worse and harder to survive. thats my take. theres a lot to love in this film.

      It was pretty cool. But the ending bummed me out. I feel like Isabel just accepted her fate in her prison

    I just watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time last year and I thought it mostly held up, especially because of Sarah Michelle Gellar's miraculously endearing and cool acting.

    I know Justice Smith is queer, but genuinely it would not surprise me at all if they ever came out as trans. I know acting is their job obviously but you can't direct those pre-transition trans woman dysphoria eyes. The exact balance of life, dissociation, and vacancy present in Owen's eyes were haunting. Genuinely scary to see in another person like I saw them in myself.

    • @seaofthievser
      @seaofthievser Місяць тому

      LMAO holy shit you're right, I thought I might have seen it before but I figured Justice was just a great actor and I dismissed the thought. It's crazy but just watching them in this interview you can see the same energy Owen had, it's like that same kind of near-vacant listlessness, almost. If nothing else, it must be said: It would take a very special type of cis man to so faithfully and intimately portray the experience of gender dysphoria and NOT come out of the experience with at least a few gender thoughts.

    Both their performances were exceptional and very memorable.
    But the abrupt 'open-to-interpretation/let the audience decide for themselves what it means' ending really pissed me off, and felt very disingenuous and unnecessary.
    It made the entire experience feel pointless, and incomplete.
