@@rosscoooo4854 its the same car. there is no heavy face-lift
Apparently he has time-traveled just like "back to the future" in this MINI. A 4 years old video reviewing a 1 year old car, that's epic!
lololololol
6 years old now, 3 year old MINI.
how is it possible lmao
How can this be the 2020 mini when this vid was uploaded 4 years ago????
Wondering the same thing
I did write the same thing, and see your comment now , I’m not the only one noticed this stupidness
Nothing except the logo and some features have changed much so therefore they just renamed the video to 2020 to get more views
Seeing as your comments are recent, what are you thinking? I am in Australia and considering to buy a mini S 5 door hatch -Auto.. My only concern is the possible out of pocket expenses I will incur once the warranty expires. I've heard servicing and parts can be very very $$$$$$$
I'm guessing it's because nothing has really changed between the 2015 Mini and the 2020 model, so they updated the title since it's still an accurate representation of what to expect from a 2020 model. I was in a 2020 Mini a couple days ago, and there are no noticeable changes to the the interior of this car. Not 100% sure if the exterior looks the same but I'd guess nothing much has changed from the 2015/16 Model.
THIS WAS MY DREAM CAR! I now finally have a 2019 MINI Oxford edition and I just love it! The sunroof, rear camera and heated seat comes as a standard, lovely features. The handling and breaking is awesome. It’s just so fun to drive. Size is small but that means it’s perfect for a single who lives in urban area. If you’re an undergrad/grad student please do consider MINI’s awesome oxford program. The price point is awesome, you get a premium car for the price of a Honda Accord :p
Bit late but congratulations!!
I’m gonna buy this car for sure. MINI’s are epic. And I agree that it’s small for passengers, but you buy a car for YOURSELF!

No he should get a Range Rover so his GF can be happy.
I own countryman S
They are very fuel efficient, not tuned for sport but rather touring.
And countryman's AWD comes in handy for every kind of weather. Travelled over 22 cm of snow last year.
You don't buy a mini to carry people.
Exactly!!! It's for me damnit 🤣

Aston Martin convertible owners: *forehead sweat intensifies*
I know right... it’s a me, myself and I car.
Extra Seats for imaginary friends! LOL
I use a 2008 Mini Cooper D as a family car and it works fine! Child seat fits in the back without any issues and my son’s buggy fits in the boot as well
I own a 2015 Cooper D with lots of extras and it is simply brilliant in every way. It feels so expensive and he is wrong about wind noise because it's actually a very relaxing car to drive at any speed. I'd recommend it to anyone!
James Nicholls
Yeah, I own a 2015 mini Cooper D too. It's definitely fun to drive, enjoy every moment in it. And after 2 years I still constantly getting 64mpg (or 22 km/l).
What about the maintenance cost? Or if i bought it used???
Silver Geordie Could you be seen in a smart?
I totally disagree I think this is the best looking Mini ever
I agree
No way, the best looking Mini ever produced, was the Wood & Picket designed Austin or Morris Cooper S, produced during the 1960s.
The BMW Mini, is not a Mini, that car, unfortunately finished production in early October 2000, when the last one came off the Longbridge production line, in Birmingham.
BMW may own the Mini brand and name, but this car is nowhere near as exciting or involving to drive as an original Cooper S of the 1960s, and the Radford and Wood & Picket conversions, were amazing creations.
It’s way better than the past model!
@@peterlewis3540 "bMw MiNi iSnT a MiNi" Times change, you think they're gonna be able to sell cars if they look like they're from the 80s??

I’m with you 100% there Mat.
1st Gen was the best looker.
And the GP is the best looker of them all.
am i the only one who hates the 4 door mini's ?
yes
No I hated it at first but now I like it but the 3 door hatch is nicer especially in pepper white.
There's a sedan too???
it is a rumour that it may be launched but no concept on mini website Firemarioflower
Charlie Wiltermood But that guy said he hated the 4 door mini's.
But. It's a mini it's supposed to be MINI!
There is no demand for the original size mini though we have to be realistic and BMW-MINI will not spend millions making a car no one will buy
But it's a MINI, it's supposed to be mini!*
all cars get bigger and bigger, so does the Mini, still quite small against other cars
It is mini ffs how small do u want it 😂🤦♂️
All cars are getting bigger to accommodate the safety regulations, MINI is now a brand more than describing the size of the car itself.
Wait.. how is this the 2020 review from four years ago?
()_()
; ) MAGIC
I own a late 2014 Cooper S. I love it - it's the most fun car I've had. Genuinely puts a smile on my face when I put it in sport mode and go round bends. The acceleration is insane. So many people compliment the look, but that's also because it has over £10,000 worth of options. Most of them on the exterior like JCW spoiler, mirror caps, upgraded alloys + centre caps, chrome line, xenons etc. BUT, it's also the most unreliable car I've had. After 2 months of ownership, the clutch (intermittently) wasn't returning after changing gear - took it to MINI to be told it needed a new engine (took over a week). Didn't even provide me a courtesy car. Also, wipers squeaked, engine oil needed replacing, sun visor was hanging loose and brake pads >60% worn. Shouldn't expect this from MINI. Love the car, HATE the service. :p
Much more reliable from 2016 model onwards. They got rid of those issues found in the 2014-15 models.
I drove a shitload of different MINIs in town, and I find especially the model reviewed here to be very comfortable for your average town run.
Andrei Simionescu yes I think it’s pretty comfortable for what it’s made to do, cruise around town. Definitely isn’t made for long road trips tho. Especially if it’s more than 2 people
@@thecoolguy775 Why can't it do long trips? Got plenty of power of the motorway and it's not the most comfortable car but it's comfortable enough, defnenelty moreso than some other cars I've been in
Funny because I went on Carwow to look for a new mini, and was told "mini do not currently allow dealers to use carwow".
Yep BMW doesn't want to work with carwow
Why not
@@bergenswald lose money

Nah. They're not real Minis. Just a cash-in on a classic. Only driven by tools.
@@JohnnyWrong ahahha gotta love your attitude
Yes, and Rolls-Royce as well.

Save it? They relaunched it 🙄
I have same car but petrol engine, it’s amazing and fun ,there’s wind noise but its fast fun premium and soo cool car ,I love it
Firm drive is a positive for some of us. Replace the runflats and you'll also have a better and quieter drive.
Why do reviewers always insist on talking about the rear seat legroom in MINI coupes? The Porsche 911 has rear seats, and it's just taken as a given that no one actually sits back there (you rarely see reviewers fussing over the lack of space in the back of a 911). Like the 911, the MINI coupe is a perfect GT for two people and all their gear.
I used the rear seats in the 3-door MINI plenty of times for my kids, they're great for that
That is because you don't know Doug de Muro 😀
It's not a fashion statement. In that price point it's by far the most driver orientated car.
I've one and not because how it looks - though it helps - It because how fun can it be on a daily basis
I love the green minis. They are awesome! I love that colour. I like seeing British Racing Green on the thumbnail.
i am such a fun of you Mat Watson ;) great job as allways :)
2020 review from 4 years ago..... 🤔
Ha😁
Noticed that. Maybe it hasn't changed much except some facelift
Getting one this week to replace R50; 2016, racing green, white wheels, roof, mirrors and stripes, can’t wait 😊
It's a brilliant car. I have a Petrol Mini One January 2017 (so UK 66 reg).
It's the absolute cheapest as it has zero options on it and is Moonwalk Grey which is the only colour that isn't available 'at extra cost' BUT my new car is packed with stuff. DAB+ radio with Bluetooth to link your mobile phone upto, Hill start assist, Air con a fabulous trip computer giving range left ,mpg, digital mph read out, outside temperature, tyre warning and lots more stuff I can't remember off the top of my head.
Mine is a 1.2 3 cyl petrol and I average about 42 mpg which I'm impressed with.
It's also got bags of OOMPH. It's 100bhp and goes like you know what off a stick, yet is heavier and has a smaller engine than the previous generations ad also losing a cylinder.
True the boot isn't big BUT put your stuff on the back seat fcol.
I'm dead pleased with my Mini's interior. It has zero options as I've said but looks very good even so
I actually honestly don't think I can find one little niggle with my car. It's the best £14000 and odd I've ever spent.
Great on motorways and around town. 11/10.
Martin The Smoggy #UTB 1876 got to be a gorilla marketing post by Mini!
I own the Mini Cooper S 2016 and I love it. I test drove the 1.5 ltr 3 cyl and that was amazing. Your car is so much fun to drive.
Collecting my new Mini tomorrow..... It will be the second mini I have owned they are great little cars...
This guy obviously missed the point!! Minis are supposed to be fun.. if you want zero road noise and a boring driving experience go and buy one of the many lookalike hatchbacks that are identical to one another except for the manufacturers badge
Mini is much higher quality interior than the Japanese cars: Honda, Nissan etc.
Some of the interior plastics on a modern Mini, are very poor quality considering their cost, and none of them are as reliable as those manufactured in Japan.
Interior quality is one thing, reliability is far more important.
get a 1998 civic it will be super reliable.
buildmorefarms100 As much as I love minis, it only has what i would call first impression quality. My mum's audi a1 had that. It gave the impression that it was sosolid and that it would never break. Yet after 5k Km we've had several electrical problems from the screen to the lights to the Bluetooth system...
We are in 2022, video was posted 6 years ago and it says MINI 2020! :)))
If you want a real harsh ride drive the Audi A1. I’ve driven the 2017 Mini Cooper S. Awesome. To me the ride is epic.

Why does it say: Mini cooper 2020, when the vid was uploaded in 2016
How it’s 2020 and this video published in 5 may 2016 ??
UA-cam says this video is from 5 years ago 😂. So we are in 2025!

Now a 2020 mini, according to the title of the video
@@Willandern 2020 mini reviewed in 2016 😂
I used carwow to enquire about a new car and I had four dealers contact me all offering the model I wanted at list price. A total waste of time. So much for huge discount's !!
I bet this came on your suggested page in 2021
I’ve got a 65 plate Cooper SD, packed full of options in Thunder Grey with White accents, absolutely love it but thinking of lowering it by a few CM to enhance look, only costs £300 so very tempting. Love the engine, faster than most regular cars on the road thanks to a punchy 2.0 TT Diesel engine, managed 73 MPG on a 15 mile journey as well. Best car in the range by far
I love the Mini Cooper because the in side
Mini does look a lot better as a three door, don’t like the new 5 doors! Maybe they should’ve done what Renault did with their Clio and abscured the extra doors in the styling.
Thumbs-down because this video is named '2018' but was actually uploaded in 2016, so it's click-bait x Shame as I really like the content, particularly that the uploaded would lie!
What I want when I buy a Mini is personality. Fun and games. Let the Mini stay a Mini.
I own a classic mini as well as a F56 mini cooper both of which are brilliant drives, however I only have one minor issue with the new gen MINI; Keep the window up if it has been raining or is raining as you will soon be driving a mobile swimming pool, water POURS in! I went back to the MINI dealership and they don't currently seem to offer wind deflectors to try and combat this issue.
Am i the only one who realised this is not a 2018 mini ??
Nope
Great and very enjoyable reviews Mat keep it up!!I was wondering about when will you be reviewing any Peugeots?
Mini 2020 review uploaded in 2016.
Wait, what year is it? 2020. What model year is this review for? 2020. When was it posted? 4 YEARS AGO WUT. ... oh this is the 2017 model and they think just because it hasn’t changed much they can cheat. Tsk tsk
No, it’s not the same, the car has been updated. In fact they don’t even sell the diesel any more. The auto gearbox is a new dual clutch model, much smoother. The dash and infotainment software have been updated, new LED headlights, nothing major, but lots of small changes.
This isn’t even the same as the 2020 version... it’s been updated since this was posted. I’d get changing the title if it was true, but it isn’t.
Thanks for being honest about certain details....namely, the ride and the cabin noise.
mat please review the Alfa Mito!!
Door closing sound is not sounding premium, but I would love to have one.
+Reptilius Maximus I wouldn't.
Eric George Elaborate please?
Reptilius Maximus They are nothing more than a fashion trinket. Over priced, over rated and an insult to their peoples car roots, just like the new Beetle and New Fiat 500.
The people's cars these days are Toyota Corolla, VW Golf and Ford Focus (top 3 selling cars in the world today, excluding the Ford F-150 pickup). One for reliability, one for a premium feel and one for good driving dynamics. Are any of these as distinctive as the people's cars of old?
BruceLeedar In a word, no.
It would be so much better as a 2 seater with a good size boot (remove the rear seats).
Please review the countryman 2017! Especially the plug in hybrid model!
Need a more up to date Fiesta ST review, If possible the ST200. Brilliant videos and keep up the good work.
I have a strange question and I hope someone may be able to answer me. I am a fairly new driver looking to buy my second car. My car currently is a Toyota Aygo and I’m looking to upgrade to a Cooper or Cooper S. Price isn’t an obstacle on these models but seeing as I’ve only had a pretty slow car so far, would a Cooper S be complete overkill? Appreciate anyone’s input :)
This mini must double as a time machine.
2018 mini review in 2016.
I love your reviews but it’s always a let down that the cars are always Diesel engine versions.
Why do reviews of Mini's always make so much of a deal about the lack of rear seat space. These have been in production for 20 years and it's not changed nor are BMW Mini likely to do so in the future. Move on.
Can you please do a review on the F56 3 cylinder petrol! such an underrated car which after you look past any dislikes in space and looks is such a brilliant quick car with superb handling
Got a mini cooper s 2006 with one child of 3 years old and still loving it. We really thinking of buying the new diesel and both me and my wife don't see any other option like this out there!
WHY have I never though about putting the parcel shelf in the compartment below the boot floor??! THANK YOU!
Need a new version of this video Mat!
Hahahahahaha, LOL. It's not your Car, but it's your Dress !!!
The storage spaces are for your mini eggs
Not a supermini but a super Mini!!
arguing with yourself now?
A 9.2 second 0 to 60 time is pretty decent. Any sub 10 second time is OK.
I want one soooooò badly......need to save !
Picked one up yesterday mini cooper petrol... pepper white, black roof, and mirrors, 17 inch black wheels, JCW kit inside and out.... love love love her.....
Nice. I ordered mine too hehe
It would be funny if Carwow changed the title to 2025 MINI even though the F66 and J01 have been unveiled.
By a swift sport instead
I love mini xxxxxxxxxxxxx dream car
Video title date and description date doesn’t match 🤷🏽♂️
I don't care about the rear seat area one bit. That space should be used for a spare tire.
It ain't so mind blowing or anything... But that retro look combined with modern design..... That's something.
the green car in the thumbnail was gorgeous.... should've used that
That Moschino part thoo loll
mini cooper or vw golf 1.5 tsi evo 150ps? I don't care about which has bigger room, but I do care about build quality, performance, handling and which offers a better driving experience.
Considering this vs a new Golf GTI or R, would the JCW or Cooper S have better ride and noise character in their comfort mode....? I’ve owned a Golf for five years and boredom is the only real strike against it - it’s the perfect car and I’m just ready for something else. So would I regret leasing a JCW for four years? Total ownership costs would be higher? Etc.
I love MINI and always want one, but too bad is super expensive in Bali Indonesia! Nevertheless I still want one perhaps in the future 🙏😂
I’m so undecided on what car to purchase. But I’m honestly beginning to really want a mini. Torn between the countryman and convertible versions. But this is nice too.
A great little car with severe design issues. The goldfish bowl in the center of the dash looks ridiculous. And not only is there no audio system, but the so called Hi-Fi Harmin Kardon in the options is incapable of producing any sound as it comprises only amp and speakers! Sheesh!
Those who say it’s too big: Why do you think it’s branded MINI and not Mini?
Plus, they sold more of these cars in 2015/2016 than ever. 🤓😁
How it can be 2018 review? Video was posted in 2016
Please test the Mini Clubman Cooper S ALL4. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
Are those roof rails a new standard feature for 2017? That would be a huge deal for me...
It's the same with the Mazda 2 I have a 209 one and the drivers seat doesn't move forwards it just moves up
can you stop changing the title to '2018' when it's not.
It's 2020 now...
It's 2021, heading is 2020, video was published 5 years ago... what? Lol
Why is this titled "2018 review" if it was published in May 2016?
because it is the same car nothing changed
^thats just not true. It’s got more changes than the Volvo’s between each year but they got like 4 reviews of the same car?
You guys really just changed the title to the 2020 mini? this is a 2015...
The problem with these minis is that the base level of each trim looks hideous. Even on the cooper s you get relatively small boring alloys and none of them come with LED daytime running lights as standard, they're quite an expensive add on which is ridiculous in this day and age. Add those plus some decent alloys and it's a beautiful car but then you've ran up the price ridiculously which is a shame
Wow, this is almost insultingly inaccurate. My MINI (1st gen S convertible) is the paragon of practicality. Super small, but can comfortably fit 4 if you need to PLUS a trunk big enough for a suitcase and some more stuff, and to top it all off with pretty nutty power-to-weight, what more could you ask for?
So when you sat in the back the seat wasn't in your normal position so you would you have actually fitted?
Hi Mat
I've been dying to see a video with the gold 7.0 Gti DSG against the MINI COOPER JCW
I would like to ask about the reliability of mini Cooper D 5 doors petrol. Is it often to appear mechanical damages?
the thing was ounlushed in 2016... tge title says it's s 2018 model??????
