How to sharpen any rotary cutter- One simple method

- ⏰💵 How to save your two most valuable resources - time and money! 😄This #leatherhack allows you to keep a razor sharp edge on your rotary cutter 💥🔪
Just 4 or 5 swipes each side every so often is all it takes to maintain an edge and keep your cuts super clean 👌
But what to do if you roll an edge? I.e. you accidentally make a cut on your paring stone! 😠😧
You can either replace your blade or follow the same technique above on a 1000 grit stone or 2000 grit diamond plate before polishing again 😄😄

Best way I have seen yet. Ty
Glad you found it valuable 👍
Nice ....Thanks for that.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I'm sorry, what kind of compound on the leather? I hear "grim" compound but that's probably not it.
Green compound 👍
Great idea but I can’t get my Olfa cutter’s blade to rotate if I run it against a strop at that angle. I’ve tried loosen the screw to enable it to run more easily but alas to no avail 😢 Any suggestions ..?
Try lowering the blade angle (lay it flatter) to get a little more friction. As long as the very edge still makes contact with the strop, it'll sharpen it. Alternatively, get the NT Cutter rotary knife, you've seen it works..
Thx, @@LeathercraftMasterclass, I’ll try again!
Have you tried sharpening blades using a sharpening stone (not sure of correct English name for it) or aluminium foil?
I probably would if it got that blunt, but I still haven't sharpened the blade on a stone since this video, only stropped.
How can I get my own leather stone?
get leather and a piece of wood and put the leather on the wood lol it's pretty simple
Rotary cutter for textile? 0:59
Yes, fabric, paper, rubber and many other materials that are soft and flexible
Why do so many youtubers put loud music on that drowns out the sound of what is being said? We come for tuition not a concert!
Probably experimenting to see what works for our audiences. If you don't try, you'll never know. How about uploading some content on your channel? Show us how it's done.
It’s almost like it’s his channel and not just a video for you 😂
Very BAD idea. My rotary cutter was not cutting well from use and I sharpened it like the video said - now it cuts NOTHING. I immediately went to Amazon and bought another pack. **sigh** I just don't want anyone else frustrated like this.
Hello Carol and thank you for your helpful reply. If you would permit me, I would like to offer 3 possible reasons for your frustration that other students and followers do not seem to be experiencing:
1) You have used your blade past the point at which polishing compound will bring back a cutting edge. This will now require more abrasive sharpening methods or complete replacement.
2) I have found a way to single headedly defy the laws of physics, and decided to hence forth with a super mean campaign of disruption to the lives of all rotary cutting enthusiasts worldwide, Muahahahah! etc.
3) You may have not followed the advice given in the video correctly.
There is a wonderful expression that I think would be wise for us all to learn:
'People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are actually doing it.'
(It's secretly #2, but shhh, don't tell anyone! ;)
Sounds like an I D ten T (ID10T) error to me. 🤷🏻♀️
