Thank you for this explanation & demonstration. I just purchased & received the new version of this sharpener, (blue), & am looking forward to sharpening my dull rotary cutter blades. It's worth the investment because blades are so expensive these days & there have been times when even a name brand blade has dulled after a few moderate uses cutting cotton fabric for quilting. If I could've purchased the original rendition of this cutter, I would've done so, but I sure like the streamline appearance of this one.
Thanks for a great video. Lots of good information and a very clear demonstration. As a professional sharpener, I can see some issues with this little device. Admittedly, I have never used this device, but have found that many of the DIY rotary blade sharpeners give inconsistent results and can prematurely wear away the blade. It is not difficult or expensive to have rotary blades professionally sharpened. The blades will last longer and the results will be more consistent. Thanks again for great content.
I've had one of these for a few years, love it! I've never tried it with any moisture added but might next time. I think I paid around $35 for mine on-line.
I thought all honing stones needs water or a little oil to sharpen a blade so this doesn't need any fluid at all? I truly love that it will sharpen all sizes of blades, that a great feature.

Only thing when sharping my fiskars 60 blade for some reason it removes plastic off my cutter shaving it . But not the olfa 45 . It does sharpen My blade cuts 5 layer Fleece fabric now .
Where can these be found? I have been unable to find anyone who carries them or similar. I hope I get a response I don't usually when I ask questions..LOL..
excellent tutorial. I have had one of these sharpeners for years and have always regarded it as 'one of those gadgets ' I wasted my money on. But oh my giddy aunt, I was using it completely wrong . I have just used the demonstrated method and the blade is as sharp as a butchers dog😆😆😆

Question what happen if you run over a pin. does it sharpen the tip on the end and not the sides.
I have one of these & it ruined my cutter & my blade. I couldn't get either one of them to work again. Did I need more explicit directions?

Mr & Mrs M agreed with you 100%. Love this now
I wonder, could you not just turn the rotary cutter over to sharpen the second side, rather than rotate the sharpening tool?
