Having had a small taste of possible excruciating pain the sjambok is capable of when homeboy really lays into the bag I wince. Damn I would love to train with Brad. I bet he could clip a fools ear or nosetip.

It's from South Africa, even that was 8-10inch longer when it was new. I have another clip that shows more movement around a bag, you can also see the flexibility when moving back and forward in the strike.

What's the best wrap for them,tape or something better?
Hi Mark , I use racket tape, and or electrical wire tied in a butchers knot, as it adds weight to the light flexible one.

When the guy who made the video describes how to attack a person's eyes, easily leaving someone to a lifetime of blindness, it made me think it would be better, more humane, and less reprehensible to just use a pistol.
Hi mwbright , yes that was back in the day, now the sjambok is used for cattle , farming , killing snakes and self defence. Most people don't own guns /let alone wanting to shoot someone. The sjambok allows for distance, and if it means not getting stabbed or dead in a self defence situation, then one would use it. I mentioned the flicks to the face as I was once told that what I was showing was crap, just standing in a garage and swinging a whip. I felt it many times and understand the pain structure. I've seen what it can do and most people in SA has one. Some people even added it to there style of martial art. You tube is full of videos and has modified sjamboks and sold with a training DVD. So many people world wide own one or two if not more by the sound of some clips. There are too many bad people in the world doing bad things.

Sounds like a good implement to own the Sjambok & I'll probably be getting me too , and practice with it and hope to never need it ,but shame on someone who ever goes up against a Sjambok playing tough guy , because it fools everywhere nowadays. 😊
