    Wish is amazing! My friend adopted a shelter dog just a week ago & I immediately turned her into your videos for help. The dog is a year old and will play with toys but only by herself, throwing & catching them. My own dog loves toys so I use them as jackpot a lot! Thanks for all your help with our pups Emily!

      I do think its cute when dogs throw toys. I have encouraged Wish to throw toys when playing with them by giving her applause and telling her how smart she is

    Any tips on getting a dog more interested in playing with you? Since getting our 2nd dog, our older dog only gets interested in playing if the younger dog is present. If they are separated, the older one seems disinterested in toys. He used to play with me a lot, but not anymore. Any tips? Thanks! Love your videos!

    So, how long is enough as a reward for training? I'm trying to leash train my puppy, but she is only toy motivated.

    What brand of frisbee do you use?

    I always use tug to reward, he's perfect with drop :) if I let him fetch he thinks its his prize tho and wants me to chase him, ive tried about everything to make him give it to me, his recal is perfect when hes not holding a toy. He somehow finds it more fun to get chased/ keep the toy, instead of giving it back

      I suggest really building it as a behaviorl. In your case what can work well is teaching the dog to retrieve to a bucket as I show in the fetch video. ua-cam.com/video/7Nm4goEuBt4/v-deo.html Also I suggest to train a new cue for fetch, and work with objects that arent toys at first, so your dog is not feeling conflicted when fetching them. You want to condition a stimulus response association with the cue and the behavior. Then when you do start to incorporate toys, do it in a way that doesnt look like the "old picture". Take the toy and slowly place it on the ground, for your dog to them put in the bucket, then add distance, when you dog is great at that then add throwing. But going strait into throwing your dog might "remember" his old behavior of keep away.

      I honestly would suggest teaching the dog to find bringing it back reinforcing by using errorless learning, so that fetch can be used as a strong reinforcer with no history of punishment used to train the behavior. Pulling on a dog to make them come to you is punishment and it can cause side effects, like reducing the reinforcement value of fetching, and perhaps punishing picking up an object. I'm not saying its wrong to do. Just if you are trying to set the dog up for success, you can do it by teaching the dog to bring it back without punishment.

    So Wish just naturally walk backwards instead of turning around. That dog is FAST!

      Actually, no it is a trick I taught her, but I didnt ask her for it. When running to bring me the toy from behind it was as you can see the fastest way to then face me, instead of turning around. Shes a clever dog.

    How do you trim black nails?

    • @kikopup
      @kikopup  6 років тому +1

      Honestly? Very carefully.. Just take of small slivers of the nail or dremel thin layers off. I suggest as I do with my dogs, trimming the nails every week- then you know exactly how much to remove as its almost the same. Its easier to see how much to remove when you see under the nail and you have good lighting.
