- In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday at 2pm PT), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta ("Dirty Money," "Hammered," "Against the Grain," "Trash for Cash") lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy speaks! And builds a couple of very unique car tables for a retail store.

Man I did not expect them to turn out so nice. When it came to you attaching the metal to the draw, I was seriously doubting the turn out. What a fantastic turn around, very nice.
I'm laughing my ass off just imagining that the title of this video is "Classic Dodge Dart Restoration" and someone is just sitting there horrified watching each new step
I am preparing few new movies, Make is show my older stuff to new audience. thank you for watching!!
as a person who loves old cars, i was cringing all the way though this.
I was just about to post the same thing. Painful to watch this.
Yeah me to They are horrible people the car wasn't in that bad condition I mean little rust but the interior was great and the quarter panels weren't dented it obviously didn't run but that could of been someone's dream car and they just destroyed it that could been restored !
As a car lover I also cringed the whole way through this video but in america they are just like a subaru or nissan in japan they made so many they sell for really cheap so there is probably another one out there in the same condition.
ye those bastards :'(
I'm glad we see a glimpse of the creative process at the beginning, and the build is simply amazing.
His work is even more incredible after seeing where he works!
Jimmy, you are just frankin' amazing!!! This was awesome to watch. I was real happy to read that, you saved this crushed metal from leaving our country, only to probably be used to make a cheap toy, and sold back to the U.S. for 10x what it was originally worth. A nice little KMA gesture. I enjoy watching your videos, always a treat, and learn something every time!!!
4:34 Could you imagine going to work and coming home to find your car like this?
The whole time I'm like, WHAT MADNESS IS THIS, but the end effects is pretty awesome...
i think this is my most favorite diresta vid everrrrrr
This video was made by david Waelder a close friend this is why seems different then my typical video thank you'll for the love
"I've been in here since 1970! My dad locked me in while we were washing the car!" LOL
When you get out of bed cranky, this is the project for you!
Yeah, right until the VERY end too. Great stuff, and loved the reveal.
This is taking "stealing rims" to a whole new level
definitely a crash course in how to make a table.
Hollis Inman I see that you did here.
HEYOOOOOO
Way better than expected.
WOW! That is just absolutely un-real. Wicked work Jimmy, nice man.
This one had me totally guessing, and then the glass top came out.
That's another good one!
You're the man!
I wish you all the best and to your family for 2015!
From an islander guy :)))
I think these are great, perfect for a store. This is multi-discipline building at it's best... metal fab and wood working + conceptual design. Very cool. Somehow this video reminds me of the nature footage you see of leaf cutter ants. He cuts the green panels off the car then carries them into a hole in the ground. If you don't like what he's making, you should at least respect the time and effort involved. Keep up the great work Jimmy!
I will admit, I was very skeptical, until the end. And then I was blown away. I didn't have the vision of the finished product I guess. I usually have a vivid enough imagination to picture what it would look like. What I pictured didn't look good, but this turned out cool. Nice job.
that was brutal hard work and the ending looked cool
ho ottenuto rimborsati molto bene per questa spazzatura. grazie per la visione
my new favorite channel, each vid I click gets better and better - this table(s) were sick! I love how they looked .....spoiler alert.... like they were crushed into cubes and are just sitting there, but wait...working drawers!! sick!!
Looks pretty cool! I had no idea where you were going with it. Great design, functional, and what the client wanted. What more could you want?
Looks fantastic!
everyones complaining but its still art, a lot of people like that kinda thing, me for one. Im no art major, Im an engineer, I dont really like cars but I think it looks really cool, just cause art people dont like it doesnt mean its bad
Love how this turned out, even if it has divided the opinion of others.
"Dude, your bed's a car."
"Yeah but it's a fuckin' sweet car."
I imagined your shop being in the country somewhere, never thought it would be in the city
Thanks DiResta, for pimp my ride...
I lost count of the number of times I thought wtf! watching this... then I got it.
He is talented. I'm more amazed that NYC police department did not harass or arrest him.
Don't be sad for the Dart. It lived it's life as a car but that life was long over. Now it's Living as art. It has a second chance at making a visual impact on someone.
One like not enough, I like your work jimmy too much, keep going bro
u guys r crazyyyyyy! it was such a nice car!! but the table is looking cooooool!!
I really liked this build, I know it upsets some car lovers but to me, this is perfect re-purposing of a used up car that has had it's life.
Ian a car has never fully had its life or run its course what they did was destroy something with a story and a past to make a table that may never make anyone feel as free as the car once did. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't be so upset if they did it with a Honda but that dodge dart had more life in it than most of its age I'm sad to see it go
I respect that opinion, maybe I just don't recognise the value of the car, I don't remember seeing one before and have no idea of it's history and no nostalgic memories of a time when they where commonplace.
To me those old vehicles were heavy, lumbering, bad handling with poor brakes and terrible safety records that had over sized engines that drank far too much leaded fuel and belched out way too many toxins into the environment. The less of them that are driving around the better. I don't appreciate them for their designs either, maybe it's because I'm European and our cars were designed totally differently.
Dude your jeans are awsome lol, that would come in handy so much at work.
You guys should make a car frame into a bed frame
...may not be as interesting as boiling a watch , but to each his own. thank you.
....i just watched a few of your videos.., why would you be so negative? i got lot of paid work because of this job. the client love the final result. thank you for looking.
Looks awesome.
Un genio trabajando y creando lástima que esta muy lejos de nuestro país Argentina
We have a new show in development, but it always takes long time to come around..
John and Ratboy have a channel , check it out. Thank you !
DiResta's Chop shop
How u can possibly imagine that? Until 7:00 i was like "wtf are they doing?"))
this was amazing
Thanks for cutting up the Dart and not the 66 Impala!
the rolex is real , i got it in HK about 12 years ago, i wear it bc it takes the beating in the shop, all other watches break.
This episode hurt. Hate to see a decent car that was restoreable be turned into a table for a clothing store display. I'm sure he got a nice chunk of money for his work. I have to agree, it did look cool in the end, but I wouldn't have used a classic.
the coolest vid yet!
ok have to admit my thought for most of the vid was has Jimmy gone mad? Then the last 15 seconds cleared it all up. Thanks for all you do and I hope your designs and creations bring you allot of cash in your pocket.
this should be in garage " Imagining "
It would look good!
Not my favorite piece but that's art.
Very cool. In the stills near the end (9:18 or so) I can't tell if the glass is lit from below or above. Did you install lighting of any sort between the tabletop and the car, or is it just spilling through the glass top?
im going to walk around new york one day and stop in to random shops just to see if i can find some of jimmy's work
Nice !!!
I disagree, that car was destined to be scrap before Jimmy picked it up, now it's a work of art. Not to mention a very function work of art
Yep.. Took me a few minutes to see where this was going. Nice job.
Esto es lo más alucinante que e visto.
DIRESTA :-)
Thats making me get the feels by watching :(
I liked it!
Hmmm...How about using a cop car from New York?
Or a taxi
im still processing it through on from all the places on earth its in a city... where does he get his supplies? I mean there of course is no homedepot down the street...
awesome!!!
I want a table like that.
I'll never get why people pay to get trash delivered in a nice package, still, great job man.
Clever stuff.
awesome ending
very creative
Love it man making stuff grrrrt
For all the dart lovers, this rust box was in line to be crushed and sold to china.
That's my old Dart! Did you you find the doobie under the seat??
I liked the finnished project, just sorry to see the car get torn down like that pretty rough
Yo Johnny Knoxville look alike!!
At the part when he be talking about "only one key for the car."
i was thinking what a colossal waste of time until i saw the end = blown away!!!!
Hell yes!
wow i just realized who DiResta is
NOW that's cool !!!!
how many sawsall blades does it take to demo a whole car?
Wow, I live about seven towns over from Kearny.
será porque que DiResta les envía este material? osea, él no esta haciendo vídeos nuevos?
Looks cool but definitely a museum only piece.
What's the tool that cut's up a strip of metal?
Each t-shirt in that trendy little store is going to sell for more than that Dart did.
that swinger was sweet it could have been a nice car ...until you totaled it?
+Lee Shelton Why didnt you go buy it then?
Gooooooood job :)
Sorry... Dear mekezine, why are you re-using DiResta old video?
Those Swingers are very rare here in Finland..
The whole time I felt bad for that Dart. Almost as good as a SS. lol
this car was completely rotten and about to go to the crusher, it would have become paper clips. i saved it.
Hey man, turn an old car into a pool table!
All the dart needed was a little love now its left to die stripped of its clothing cold and alone its a shame to think someone probably had their first kiss in that car met their wife in that car started a family in that car outgrew that car and sold it with tears in his eyes hoping the car would go to a good home where it would stay on the road until the oil reserves dried up making countless more people grin from ear to ear as they slam the pedal to the floorboard the secondaries on the carb fly wide open as their heart skips a beat or two before the tires catch traction on the hot asphalt the smell of gasoline and burnt rubber fill the air as their head slams against the headrest the teenager in his import tuner left at the red light his girl sitting in the passenger seat cheering him on speeding off into the night bound to end up in another first kiss
Puncuation. It helps.
Too much BLA BLA, fuck you!
Hey man check out these cool tables
You are a poet!Seriously.
wtf Jimmy!!! my car!!! XD
as a car inthusuest, it broke my heart to see this car go bye bye.
Dismantles a car in the middle of a street, not only does he have balls of steel, but he also seems like he's scrapping somebodies car
You are a genius
How many recip bladdesdid you chew thru?
The tetnis table.
