I just bought one of these after driving a 2014 for 8 years and I can say after a few days of driving the new Crosstrek is NOTHING like my old one. It’s quieter, smoother and far better handling than my 2014. The A/C is 1000% better too. It drives rides and handles like a more expensive car.

Those "cup holders" in the back could be used to mount a couple of fire extinguishers. Handy if you are off road and a small fire just started. (before it becomes a forest fire) Or on the road and someone's car is on fire, (unless it is electric). You may save a life.

Was at a dealership to buy a new 2025 outback limited, while I was picking that up, I noticed a bunch of cars basically off to the side all stacked up. Asked the salesman what was up with them. He said they had a bad hailstorm and over a hundred of their cars were damaged, he said that they will probably wholesale them to a dealer in the Midwest. Anyway I was able to also purchase a new 2024 Crosstrek sport for 18k. Yes has some hail dents, but not that bad really. Wasn't planning on 2 new cars, but couldn't pass up the deal.

Love my Crosstrek with the 2.5 BUT!!! I hate the 3 cameras that take up so much of the centre or the windshield. Why couldn’t Subaru narrow them, so much black plastic surround. It takes away the forward visibility, imagine a Sun visor down all the time in the centre of the windshield, again I say that I HATE that one feature.

Overall, the video was quite good. One constructive critique though: Your comment about not understanding how the turn signal quick lane change option works makes it sound like you didn't want to be thorough enough to answer your own questions. You mention being assuming it's buried in the menus - and it is. As you make these videos, keep a list of any questions like these that come up and check into them before you cut the video. Read the manual or check the internet for a quick answer. That way you maybe answer a question someone else couldn't answer in their own videos and it would make you look better by comparison. Good video other than that though. Thanks for putting it together!

I like smaller cars, leaning to Corolla Cross, but the tire repair kit in lieu of a spare is not attractive. There is always the Forester or RAV4,going up in size.
I just DREAD the new tech I have never dealt with.

  • @RebeccaLynnMusic

Indulge or ignore me as I list some likes and dislikes.
Some issues are puzzling to me, and the answer to my questions of, "Why would they do that?" are very likely to be the same answer to most things illogical: Money. Someone decided to spend less and receive more. 🤔 Or, I'm highly sensitive. Chime in if you'd like.
Just bought my first new car about 6 weeks ago. Never thought I would do that. 2024 Crosstrek Premium.
I see some issues as poor choices and/or design flaws.
I know that it's probably better to list what I like about this car before listing what i don't like, but my questioning some design choices is now at the front of my mind, so I'm going to complain first. 😅
Besides all the things I love about the 2024 Crosstrek Premium, I believe that those in charge of the final product design made a series of some terrible decisions, in my opinion, when they ...
    1. did not put air conditioning vents in the back seat.
    2. they agreed to not allow the back seats to recline. They are very upright. I would not want to travel back there for very long. Especially on a very hot day with no air vents for the back.
    3. allowed the front seats to recline very far back, but one could not possibly be comfortable, because the lumbar area becomes raised on both driver and passenger seats; the back portion vs the seat portion is too great a difference, plane-wise; the human body is not that shape.
(Sometimes a person might need to sleep in their car. Moving, traveling far with lots of gear or more than one person, etc.
If one cannot sleep in the back because they have too many items in there, one might need to rent a motel room. Seems like we should be able to sleep in a Subaru, as many owners are outdoors-loving people, and sometimes, you know, long drive, or your tent gets rained out, so your car should be a place where sleep is possible.
Of course, cars are for traveling. This car was not designed to be a camper. Just saying, they missed an opportunity. I have had other cars where the full recline is comfortable, and the back becomes flat.)
    4. chose to *not* design a flat cargo area in the back when back seats are released down. 😑
My 2005 Toyota Matrix has a lovely, flat cargo area. If Toyota could design that decades ago, why can't Subaru now?Why do it any other way? I am trying to design something, using a variety of different materials, so far, to design a piece that would create a flat surface. For what I paid, I should not have to do this.
I think that this is a big design flaw.
    5. chose interior material (plastics) that scratch if you touch it with a cotton puff.
I have been unaware of any incident where I sensed that I was causing damage to dashboard or interior doors or center console. But there they are, marks, quite visible.
I've been treating this car like a Faberge egg. And yet, it looks like I've been careless. I'm exaggerating. But in earnest, it seems strangely easy to mark up.
    6. allowed paint that sure seems easy to harm. I've been extremely careful, but unless I'm imagining things, it seems a bit to easy to do harm.
    7. didn't, apparently, sit in the driver seat to test out the placement of the bottle/cup holders. Feels awkward. Also, seems like very little space for bits and bobs; then again, there's the center console for that.
    8. chose to not have a mechanical emergency brake; I may be an odd bird, but I always think that there should be a mechanical override to open and close windows and lock and unlock doors.
*9. Now, this one, I can't claim is a design flaw. I'll be taking this into the dealership for them too check out. I now turn off the automatic shutdown because too many times, while I am waiting for a long light, the engine will restart after it has shut off. Then it stays on. It doesn't matter that I've got another 90 seconds at this intersection where there would be a justification for shutting off the engine.
I have considered whether there might be some kind of interference with the automatic vehicle hold.
Next time I drive and I know I'm going to be waiting at an intersection, or I'll just try it out in a parking lot, I will not have the automatic hold on, and I will see if the engine will restart before I have accelerated.
    10. Not sure how to gauge whether the "infotainment" is expected to lag as it does. Is this as designed? Is this an issue that can be resolved?
Otherwise, in this first 6 weeks that I've owned it, I like knowing that it is safer than most cars and the seat is comfortable.
I'm not used to a car not still moving forward smoothly, just coasting, when you take your foot off the gas pedal.
I'm not sure what is creating this in my car. Is that normal?
I appreciate the safety features, such as alerting me to objects that are behind me if I'm in reverse, and I don't mind the beeping, which I know I could adjust if I chose to, if the car senses that I'm leaving a lane.
My decades-long habit of indicating my moves (using turn signal) is rewarded. Ha!
I like the sun blaze pearl color.
I like more things about it, but I've written plenty enough for one comment.

I'm thinking of buying the Crosstrek Premium or Sport, so I find your comments interesting. Thanks for sharing.
One thing that concerns me are the reports from owners who claim much less mpg in city driving. Subaru's spec for city driving is 27 mpg. But many owners report 20-22 mpg. If this is true then I better look at other cars. I'll see if I can rent a Crosstrek for a couple of days and find out for myself.

  • @scottfreeman528
    @scottfreeman528 2 місяці тому

Worst: (after owning for over a year)
-Eyesight. The cameras are too sensitive. Eyesight alarms constantly if windshield fogs up, rain, snow. Some of these alarms also cause a check engine light to come on.
-Electronic e-brake. Comes on constantly when coasting in cruise control.
-Dash alarms. When you disable what Subaru deems a “safety” feature, you get a subsequent dash light illuminated to “warn” you that it’s disabled.
-Touchscreen. Very slow response in my experience. Also most climate control features require taking eyes off of the road to enable on the touchscreen
