One of the best bands of the 90's graced us with two masterful albums. Those fortunate enough to discover their magical treasure; were blessed with the gift of Enlightening Harmony.
I can't believe it's been 20 years since I wore out my first cassette of bellybutton. Still just as fresh and awesome as the first time I heard Jellyfish. The box set will be an investment all of us die hard fans need in our library. Andy, Roger, Jason,.. reunion? hehe
I saw them in Portland OR, they opened for the Black Crows which seemed odd but they were great, and then they played a couple songs with the Black Crows turned out awesome.
yea chris manning (the bassist and juggling guy) was my old camp counsler in 1997 and he got me into his old band... now an engineer at plant recording studios in sausilito
This was a pet project of the label president, you can bet we did everything for this band at this time (I was a promo rep). They still are one of my all-time favs, and I had a blast hanging with them. I was just as dissappointed as you they didn't break thru.
Very intriguing and very curious video. Also Very late 60's looking. I like this video. One of my favorites! The song is also one of my favorites! Great to manipulate cards to, or do a card manipulation routine to!
They were great. Saw them in concert in NYC and they were amazing. Andy was a great lead singer and very very funny commenting after every song. Wish they would get back together!
Jellyfish songs make me so sad.. Mostly because I get a sense of nostalgia for a band I was never around for. I wish these guys hadn't quit as early as they did.. It would be less deppressing if they were somewhat popular at the time or even today but they're not :(
Anyone who listens to this great band can easily hear traits of Beatles on all their numbers, which is why I think they were great, very serious musicians!
LOL! You're so right about Jellyfish fans! I wish I could say I had a t-shirt, but I never did. Yeah, that's a reunion I would totally pay overinflated ticket prices to see....
Nice!! I saw this video a couple of times in the early 90's.... and the melody has stayed in my head for the last 20 years....seeing the video now, it's exactly how I remembered it.
They were an amazing band, very talented musicians, and incredibly nice guys as well. I saw them at least a half-dozen times in the years they were recording and touring and they never put on a bad show.
I'm with you on Jellyfish being (one of) the most underrated band(s) of the 90's,but having seen them a few times, I can honestly say that the grunge crowd were the very ones buying Jellyfish records! In the UK anyway
Too Good for most humans maybe?.This is possibly the best pop song ever written and the video is great, even if they only ever got to release THIS one piece of music it should be lauded as total MAGIC!
I've only just been introduced to this band - ths is outstanding and deserves to be remixed/mastered to bring more umph and life to the drums. The harmonies have shades of CSN, Queen and Beatles Abbey Road era - phenomenal!
I saw the last Jellyfish concert in Florida. It blew me away. Such a waste that they broke up. Off shoots are worth checking out. Alternative... search for The Pillbugs and Mark Mikel on here. They've filled the void for me :)
I have fond memories of Jellyfish,Jesus Jones Faith no more and Depeche Mode etc. in the 90's It is the alternative pre grunge batillion. Mathew sweet anyone?
aaaaahhhh! LOVE these guys~ Hopefully they will do a reunion at some point~ My friend Jerry Becker introduced me to them after I played Sweet and Simple by Journey on my stereo one night... a couple of great bands spawned off of this one as well~ thanks for sharing!
I have the Fan Club boxset. It's for "sale" on Amazon for only $300... ouch! It shows up on ebay from time to time as well, but it's always very pricey. I bought mine new for around $65 when it was first released. I think they should put together a DVD release of all their videos and a couple concerts. Call it Fan Club: The Videos!
Andy Sturmer sang some Sponge Bob song, and also sang the theme song for the latest Transformers Animated series. Roger Joseph Manning Jr. has a myspace site with brand new music on it.
No, Andy Sturmer is the lead singer of Jellyfish and he was never a member of Slash's Snakepit. Eric Dover, the singer of Slash's Snakepit, played guitar in Jellyfish just before they called it quits. But he's not in this video or on any album.
Gosh, I love these guys! I remember the moment I first heard this song. Hearing it again brings me back to some of the best moments of my life. They were awesome live and I wish they were still around for everyone to hear. Thanks for the video Shu3045
@RetroVGamer I got the 4 CD box set that was released much later after their break up. They were working on a 3rd album. Tracks from that 3rd album that were mastered and "in the can" are in the box set. THEY ARE AMAZING. You can still find the box set on Ebay and other places.
agreed! an unbelievably underrated band ... I was lucky enough to see them perform three times, and each time was better than the last. Too bad they burned out so quickly.
I used to listen to this album so much when it first came out! I absolutely loved it! Jellyfish were more Beatle-esque than the Beatles themselves after so long. Even though I didn't care for their '60's' dress style I absolutely loved their music! I always will! I agree the whole album was/is great! Did they never did come out with a video for Bedspring Kiss?
1990 Signaler Haig said i luv this track, signaler Grierson bought track and took it to seychells being a holiday of reward, sig G met Robin from south africa(female babe).Robin have u still got my jellyfish tape?
@RaysTrack Queen, CSN, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Todd Rundgren and just about anyone else who understands the buliding blocks of harmony. Something rare these days.
the band the world missed. almost every song on both LP's are amazing examples of homage of the best 60-70's bands i kinda like bellybutton best cause it's more simple pop perfection (especially Jason's playing) but spilt milk makes my brain melt too and they were amazing live
@RaysTrack There's already been a tribute. And, nothing needs to be done to the original tracks. They still use the original recordings to tune studios in LA it's such a well composed album. Both albums.
this stirs up angels and demons alike for me. Only Wilco's Summerteeth got me finally over the loss of Jellyfish. Shame bands on this level (of understanding) disintegrate. Bellybutton got me through a transitional period at very, very loud volume. Jellyfish + Wilco would be a match made only in music heaven. But I digress.
20 years ago....those days when this band came out I used to think it was cool to go out to the street dressed like them hahaha!!!! I didn't need a special event or a videoclip to wear that kind of clothes... :D
@kravn4smore - - - I think yeah, couple things like that. Timing - - what were they in 1989-1990-1991? Remember that was just on the cusp of Guns'n'Roses and Nirvana. Band also fell apart from within ... they were everything right, but maybe just a smidge the wrong time. Argh. History is frickin' cruel.
Does anyone else think the lead singer looks like Malcolm McDowell when he played the main character in A Clockwork Orange? Anyway, awesome song. Reminds me a lot of The Who. :D
I love this band! The vid is great! It remindes me of H.R. Puff and Stuff intensafied! I love that mod, 60's groovy style. I wish everything could be "hearts and flowers" lol!!!
Popnutty, good call. But, I believe, that Jellyfish would be the last to deny their influences. Rather, they wear them on them on their sleeve. One minute they're the Beatles, the next the Beach Boys, then Queen. They are a Waring blender of pop influences.
Definately. It's funny, they toured alot with Tears For Fears and often opened for them, but TFF also had traces of The Beatles, so obvoisly a theme there, man I turned on quite a few people to this band.
@RaysTrack It's impossible to remix it... can't get better then this...they were more then perfectionists i guess on split milk they had more then ten engineers fired, the engineers in LA called " The nightmare on sunset strip" and from that record on, most of engineers use split milk to calibrate and check the studio speakers .. Jellyfish, is just too good, the most underrated band ever.
Great Song!!!
I was touched by your beautiful song
One of the best bands of the 90's graced us with two masterful albums. Those fortunate enough to discover their magical treasure; were blessed with the gift of Enlightening Harmony.

absolutely agree.Beautiful melodies played brilliantly..I met the blonde one at a gig in Bristol,UK once......lovely bloke
アルバムでしか聴いたことがなかったので、
こんなMVだったとは!驚き!
映画の「時計じかけのオレンジ」とか、
ジョニーデップの、
初期の頃の映画とかに、
似てる気がしました。
Well, one would like it because of the great song writing, wonderful harmonies, content of the words etc...

Excellent new discover!! Great Band!!!
They were great. Saw them in concert in NYC and they were amazing. Andy was a great lead singer and very very funny commenting after every song. Wish they would get back together!
Awesome, why were they not huge? SO much talent..........their songs are timeless.
Jellyfish songs make me so sad.. Mostly because I get a sense of nostalgia for a band I was never around for. I wish these guys hadn't quit as early as they did.. It would be less deppressing if they were somewhat popular at the time or even today but they're not :(
the Later... version of 'the ghost at number one' is just.... ASTOUNDING!!!! the harmonies!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who listens to this great band can easily hear traits of Beatles on all their numbers, which is why I think they were great, very serious musicians!
One of the greatest bands that never got their fair share of attention. I wish they'd get this lineup for a reunion.
LOL! You're so right about Jellyfish fans! I wish I could say I had a t-shirt, but I never did. Yeah, that's a reunion I would totally pay overinflated ticket prices to see....
Interviewed this band in Detroit back in .... '91? Great guys, great music, the more I listen to the more I dig their stuff.... pick up the box set.
Completely agree! Saw them twice in Atlanta in the 90's. Still listen to them all the time.
Umajets are great too!
Amazing, biggest regret, turning up at Wembley just as thier set(supporting INXS) was finishing! 10 years later it still hurts!
Nice!! I saw this video a couple of times in the early 90's.... and the melody has stayed in my head for the last 20 years....seeing the video now, it's exactly how I remembered it.
One of the best bands ever to have existed. They shined brilliantly for a short time, then were gone.
This song has been stuck in my head for weeks now.
Of course, this is one of those cases where it's because it's such a good song.
Man, I love this song. I had a dub of this tape back in 91. Great album.
Such a shame we didnt get to see more from this band
I so remember going to there concert in California...It was the funnest time!!
So true man, I feel the same way, except i was only two or three when these guys broke up :(. I really wish they'd get back together.
I'm the only 19 yr old i know that even knows of this band. I love them. and i have since i was like 8. yay for jellyfish!
enjoyed the music and band no matter weird they where
Love this song. I love Jellyfish. They have great style too! You rock for putting this vid up!
A genius band that never received the proper exposure. They are remarkable, absolutely blissful music! Bloody brilliant!
I saw the last Jellyfish concert in Florida. It blew me away. Such a waste that they broke up. Off shoots are worth checking out.
Alternative... search for The Pillbugs and Mark Mikel on here. They've filled the void for me :)
Still remember their show in Detroit! Amazing band that had to be seen live!
The forgotten 70's prog rock band of the 90's. Awesome!
One of the best songs from the 90´s!!
Good god, please go on tour again!
How I still love this song! I saw them in a small club dressed in their full mad hatter's regalia and they were incredible.
I have fond memories of Jellyfish,Jesus Jones Faith no more and Depeche Mode etc. in the 90's It is the alternative pre grunge batillion. Mathew sweet anyone?
aaaaahhhh! LOVE these guys~ Hopefully they will do a reunion at some point~

My Fiancee has just introduced me to these guys. where was i when i was around????
Shame that they arn't still together
one of the greatest songs I've ever heard!
Great song!
Andy Sturmer sang some Sponge Bob song, and also sang the theme song for the latest Transformers Animated series. Roger Joseph Manning Jr. has a myspace site with brand new music on it.
One of the most underrated bands of all time.
This song is so cool. Shame the band broke up.
@popnutty I saw them in a small club called The Edge =) they blew bubbles at us in the audience..=)
Part of that amazing explosion of great bands from the early 90s. It's a shame they only made 2 records.
only just discovered this band. they are amazing!!!!! :)
Great song from a group sorely missed.
No, Andy Sturmer is the lead singer of Jellyfish and he was never a member of Slash's Snakepit. Eric Dover, the singer of Slash's Snakepit, played guitar in Jellyfish just before they called it quits. But he's not in this video or on any album.

I totally understand, and I saw 'em twice. They were so good. Great songs. Great musicianship. Man, I miss 'em. Thanks for posting this, Shu3045.
I got to see them a week later in Leeds - absolutely amazing gig.
I've also got a cover by Marillion, also underrated, which is fantastic
They are so AMAZING!!!!
@RetroVGamer I got the 4 CD box set that was released much later after their break up. They were working on a 3rd album. Tracks from that 3rd album that were mastered and "in the can" are in the box set. THEY ARE AMAZING. You can still find the box set on Ebay and other places.
Yes - Absolutely the most underated band ever!
agreed! an unbelievably underrated band ... I was lucky enough to see them perform three times, and each time was better than the last. Too bad they burned out so quickly.
Grunge pretty much put the last nail in the coffin of rock and roll......so many good things were happening
Roger Joseph Manning -- his recent solo album is quite good.
great band, never got the recognition they deserve, what happened to them?
I used to listen to this album so much when it first came out! I absolutely loved it! Jellyfish were more Beatle-esque than the Beatles themselves after so long. Even though I didn't care for their '60's' dress style I absolutely loved their music! I always will! I agree the whole album was/is great! Did they never did come out with a video for Bedspring Kiss?
Wow, this takes me back to being 12! I remember this video was hot stuff on MTV at the time.
One of the best recording ever!
@popnutty ... also 'ticket to ride'.. a paul drum pattern nontherless
1990 Signaler Haig said i luv this track, signaler Grierson bought track and took it to seychells being a holiday of reward, sig G met Robin from south africa(female babe).Robin have u still got my jellyfish tape?

Man I LOVE this band. 'Spilt Milk' is one of the greatest albums ever... and this video is one of the coolest things I ever saw. Thanks for posting!

ROFL at 1:04 The bird just took a shit... Hahahaa
Both from the Bay Area. Cause it's awesome.

greatest band that never made it...should have
I love love love the drums. Fucking awesome, great pop song.
i saw this band on mike portnoys T-shirt... and im hooked
@jazzhjazz
The first article I read about them quoted them as citing their influences ad Queen, Abba and Gilbert O'Sullivan.
I love this band! The vid is great! It remindes me of H.R. Puff and Stuff intensafied! I love that mod, 60's groovy style. I wish everything could be "hearts and flowers" lol!!!

Holy crap! I LOVE this band!!! AWESOME! Thank you for posting this:)
I say they were the "Panic At The Disco" of the 80's, at least with this song & vid
agreed...most underrated band ever.
had the second album---called it the pink album---very good
most underrated band in the 90's
Soooooooo gooooooood
JELLYFISH REUNITE!!!
this for me is my college days!!!!
