No backing tracks. What you hear is what is.
Eric, this performance is mind blowing. I was lucky enough to see you guys live and definitely no backing tracks! 👏
Truly, one of the most amazing live performances ever! Who could even pull that off these days??
Oh wait, only TLQ! :)
been getting back into jellyfish and imperial drag great stuff
@@JonpaulKronser Imperial Drag is incredible too!
I MISS THEM. The world needs Jellyfish.
You said it!
maybe this will do it for you

jellyfish minus andy.
YES, we do.
Yes 😥
Pulling that off live is extraordinary! Such talent.
This performance was flawless! I was lucky enough to see the Spilt Milk tour in Dallas and got to meet some of the guys afterward. The vocals were absolutely astounding, just like in this clip. They are all just so immensely talented. I'm sorry they couldn't make it work, but I loved Imperial Drag and am checking out the Lickerish Quartet.
Hard to believe that only 4 people just made that sound.
It’s often said that it’s the friction between band members that creates the musical masterpieces in this world. Never more true than with these cats. Their individual music has greatness, but when combined in Jellyfish, ahhhhhh... PERFECTION. Wish they could have held it together.
Yeah, the tension in the vocals on All Is Forgiven is palpable, but it made for one incredible song.
Perfectly expressed. 👍
The cream of the 90's crop...they should have been HUGE!
Absolutely.
Still one of my favorite bands of all time, up there with The Beatles and Steely Dan and XTC. Original, talented, songwriting ability, production off the charts....they were the real deal, and it was really 2 guys; Andy and Roger. Spilt Milk and Bellybutton still hold up as 2 of the best records ever made.
KhalDrogo76 those are my favorite bands as well! Totally agree with your comment. 👍
i remember watching this as a kid because I read a People magazine review comparing Spilt Milk to Queen. I recorded it with a hand-held cassette recorder and used to play it in my dad's car all the time, which drove him crazy. Then I got the album and my life was changed.
I remember reading another review of Spilt Milk where other comparisons were made: Queen, Beatles, Beach Boys, The Four Freshman, and Dan Fogelberg( most likely his thick and beautiful orchestrations, arrangementents, and storytelling. I think Big Star was even thrown in there or The Association.
I was a kid back in 1990 and I don't know how but I got my hands on a copy of bellybutton and, even though I loved Nirvana and hard rock and punk, that album really made an impression on me. I kind of forgot about it but about a week ago found it on CD in a dollar bin, and I remember every single song, all the words... Every single song is amazing and so catchy. What a great band. Thank you, Jellyfish!
They should have been huge (and given us 10 more albums)!
TorzJohnson totally agree!
I am hoping Andy has some archived music somewhere he secretly releases someday. He’s getting older and it really makes me sad that there’s not more to explore in their discography.
What an ambitious and creative band.
Saw this about 30 years ago, and it changed everything.
Yes! 👏👏👏
Good Lord, these guys are SO good.
Jellyfish were interesting in the fact that they actually became more popular after the band broke-up (sort of like the Velvet Underground). They're more beloved now than they were in the early 1990's
They were so clever. I miss them.
My daughter was born in 1992…this song always makes me think of her..what a beautiful person she has become..and now she is a great Mom..amazing. So proud…..and she married a drummer. Figures.
One of the greatest bands that ever existed..
Still gives me chills it’s so good
I just found these guys through my father, such a unique and talented band. It sucks not that many people know about them. This track and bedspring kiss are my favorites. long love jellyfish’s legacy
Absolutely. The great thing to me about Jellyfish, besides obvious greatness, was that they took all of these very obvious and great influences, and took these ingredients to the next level and made something totally their own out of it. Too bad they imploded. Great band!
the "any old way that i fall" at 3:57 is so good
The best band ever, no band can ever harmonize better and the guitar solo from Eric is the best:!!!!!
1:48 Eric covered the solo very well (and with a dash of his own tone), but Lyle Workman recorded the album’s tasty original. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyle_Workman?wprov=sfti1
Except 10 cc
And Stone Temple Pilots
Imagine the poor bands in the competition watching the guest band Jellyfish from the side stage. They must have felt sooo small after that.
Hadn't thought of that. "Follow this.."
Right?! 😂
@@StrateleStudios Right. Those albums have been with me for just over 30 years now. I wish there were more of them.
@@steverose1977 these guys were on a whole other level. They blended such diverse styles but yet had their own sound. If you haven’t checked out the videos on the making of their two albums I highly recommend it!
@@StrateleStudios That might lose the magic! The not-quite-musician in me would like to learn the technical stuff, but the fan doesn't.
Wow! Just Wow!
They made two LP's that are masterpieces,,, I wish they'd regroup for a few shows, with the original lineup.
why did they dry up and blow away? they are the best power pop band ever! and their tunes are timeless!
Shit happens. if you've read the book, as I'm sure many here have, (and if not, WHY NOT?), they might've been doomed from the beginning...Shooting stars, they were...
John Thomson What’s the name of the book please??
Nirvana
I know this is 10 years later 😅 but they broke up because Andy Sturmer (Drummer/Vocals) was really tough to work with. He needed to be in control so no one wanted to work with the duo of him and Roger Joseph Manning Jr. Sturmer later went on to work on cartoons like Batman and Looney Tunes on Cartoon Network
How does this not have a million views?? One of the top live performances of all time, outrageously good, almost transcendent.
Right?!!! :) :) :)
I honestly don’t think there could be a more perfect song.
One of the greatest bands EVER!!!!! FACTS!!!
You know it!!!
Amazing performance of a brilliantly written song.
@55westend: They were special guest on the show, not competing.
I pray someday you guys mend fences and play again. It's too good not to share.
Well 3 of the guys in this video are back together...in the form of The Lickerish Quartet! All new material and frickin' amazing!!!!!!🎶👍🏼
I just bought 3 CD’s off ebay
Spilt Milk has always been my 90s Sgt Pepper. The production on that album was amazing and listening with quality studio reference set of headphones really turned my like of the album to love.
I’m right there with you! 👏👏👏❤️
We missed out on so much good music from this band!
For sure
One of the most underrated players ever! 😢❤
Amazing song from one of the best bands ever. RIP Jellyfish
Recently had this song pop up on my spotify & it changed my life. It’s been the song of my summer ‘21, so their impact continues almost 30 years later. Stunned by their live performance abilities. literally the best of the 90s in my opinion
What’s your favorite tune? 😊
Both their albums are incredible. Try king is half undressed, baby’s coming back, joining a fan club, she still loves him. All amazing songs.
The same for me! This song came up on my Ben Folds radio mix and has to be my most listened song of '21!
Something similar happened to me. Joining a fan club came up on my Spotify discover weekly playlist. I really liked the song so I listened to the whole album and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Listening to Spilt Milk for the first time was one of the best musical experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve been obsessed with Jellyfish ever since
The vocals are just incredible in the limited live stuff on UA-cam of Jellyfish.
Their four part harmonies blow my mind. Andy casually standing and playing immaculate drums while singing 😂😆
what a damn shame they can’t reunite for another shot. This music is so much more relevant now than it ever was, they were ahead of the curve back then then.
This band was so fucking great on every level. Then Grunge hit the scene and just killed it for them. It's a pity people then didn't grasp that not every god damn piece of music had to sound like Nirvana.
calm down bro, they didn’t break up because of grunge they broke up because they hated each other and couldn’t get on the same page during the sessions for the third album. When you have three extremely talented songwriters in a band who are also all lead vocalist it’s really hard to not want your idea to be the idea that gets recorded… That’s why Jason and Roger and Andy and Jon Brion (Who joined the band after “Spilt Milk”) all decided to just go solo instead
Spilt Milk came out in 93 a full 2 years after Nevermind.
Nirvana, Or all of the Creed copycats the music labels were cranking out.
This band was fantastic. I still own this album, bought it brand new on CD.
That outro. Wow.
Wow is right, class act
Their songs are all like that. You listen and in the end you think wow!!! Again, again!
extremely professional
They make it look so easy don’t they?!
It sounds just like the recording. But it's LIVE!!!
Still listening after all of these years ... ,they're fab...I absolutely adore this track and "Ghost at number one" is sublime! One of my favourite lines of all time is from Ghost at number one.." How does it feel...to be a visionary poet "❤
I wish they had stayed together long enough to cut a few more albums 😔
One of the very best live bands I've seen
Me too! The vocals live are insanely good!
..and Tim Smith makes that bassline look like a kindergarden finger painting.
Thanks for posting this! The last time I saw this was when it first aired back in '93. I was already a big fan at that time, but this was the first time I had seen them perform live anywhere....ridiculously amazing!!!
Superband!!!
i love jellyfish! from japan
I just forgot how utterley brilliant they were
Genial, no conocía a la banda antes... y todo en directo 👍🏼🤘🏼
First time I heard them I knew they were special. Just that one verse
Spraying from his pen like polliwogs. Genius. Maybe they couldn’t write music fast enough. I’d love to produce these guys. We’d make a fortune. A singing drummer!
They’re great!
Utter Class
just heard of this band a few days ago and wow they are really good. I'm gonna get my paws of the "Spilt Milk" album. This is a great live performance.
what a great performance.....love the harmonies
As someone who grew up on Nirvana then progressed backwards to the 60s musically, I’ve never heard the guys till today and I’m blown away. Was having a bad day thank you Jelly Fish. Wow!
Love this comment 👏
This is much better than I remember when it first aired.
I came here because I saw an interview with MIsa (the bassist) of Band Maid.
She said this was her favorite song from 3rd grade thru high school and it really made her want to play bass guitar.
Sadly, this song didn't get much exposure on this side of the pond.
It's catchy as hell and has a great bass line... I love it !!
I gotta say the musicianship and love for the craft is unmatched in both lineups of this group
Obviously influenced by the Beatles, Queen, Beach Boys, 10 CC and ELO. Great job boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Supertramp
Toto, Elton John, Chicago, Supertramp, ELO a few more I can't put my finger on
Great band.
legends !
This was my only exposure to jellyfish until youtube. I remeber this broadcast. It's rare that I can remember a band off of one song on TV once. Especially when its almost 30 years later.
I was just starting to get into them when I saw them in this show. I wish they stayed together long enough to do more.
I just got this in my recommended after watching your reactions for at least the last month, this is a treasure to have on UA-cam. Jellyfish is one of the most underrated bands ever and it’s tragic how they never got the recognition they deserved. The harmonies!!! And live!!! Mind blowing
I am a total Jellyfish junkie! I had this video on a dusty video tape in the garage. I recorded it off the tv many many years ago. I was so happy the quality was good enough to post and as you can see by the views there are many Jellyfish fans out there! I’d love to do a mini series on them for the channel someday cuz I think they are absolutely brilliant! Glad to hear you’re a fan too! 😃
@@StrateleStudios That’s super awesome to hear, I love the Eric Dover comment too; this video is an important nugget in history. And yes please do! I don’t know how deep you get into music theory but I can’t think of anyone on UA-cam who has pulled apart any of their songs, so it’s waiting for you man. I would love to learn about too much, too little, too late - it has that insane guitar solo section that changes key by the end of it and I always lose my mind.
Always one guy at a battle of the bands with a Neil Peart sized drum kit. Now he's backstage thinking "oh fuck"...
LockedandLoaded Signs 🤣
My sugar trampoline? That is slang for a birth control device, isn't it?
Breaking conventional standards of stage roles…absolutely iconic
Andy Sturmer is so beautiful
So so good. love love love. the last 50 years of the best music distilled into two great albums.
Great way of putting it! 👍
Saw them open for Tears For Fears. They did a great job! They remind me of Ambrosias first album and particularly the lead vocals of David Pack. In any case, Jellyfish has their own thing happening.
Andy Sturmer is a fucking beast. I miss his voice
I always hoped he’d jump back into the game and put out more music. It’s a shame he didn’t. He’s brilliant!
ERIC "M.F". DOVER!!! I saw this line up.I really hope for a reunion.
jellyfish are the reason I have harmony OCD'S
Can't believe I've never heard of them before. thanks for posting this!
Well, I hope you got to know what an incredible noise they made!
Maybe the best song by one of the worlds best bands ever
How did I miss these guys in the 90's?! this is so great! Wondered up on this from listening to interview with butch walker and this bands name is mentioned.
This album is one of my favorites
Mine too!
Loved this band! ... and still do!
Roger and Eric had a great one-album band with Imperial Drag.
The bass player in that band went on to form Fitz and the Tantrums.
Wow! Amazing! Had never heard this one live before. Saw the lipsynched one and the in studio deal. But, this is awesome! What a great live band!
They could certainly bring it!
I have "Bellybutton" and "Spilt Milk". Great band. Expletively great band.
They should have been huge.
I recorded this on VHS and my younger Brothers and me watched the shit out of it along with all the other music videos and concerts we were lucky enough to capture off Much Music SNL or Mtv.
Most underated band ever. So good
I miss you so much Jellyfish!
Me too 😭
what a gem of a song, god damn
Couldn't agree more!
2017 ❤
Roger looking extra girlie in this one, lol. I think its the sparkle blouse thats doing it. Love these guys.

They were my favorite band👍
Follow that!
