If he killed someone while being chased the cops should have called it off, but if the cops don’t try hard enough to stop them, like in Melbourne CBD, then they should have done more to save lives. Cops can’t win, I’m not saying they are saints, but we like to complain a lot. And just FYI on he public sector: student teacher ratios and students /school is going up, hospitals are understaffed and there is a bed shortage, so the two biggest employers in the public sector, health and education aren’t too big I would argue. And I don’t think many people really would say we need fewer police on the force.

Regardless of whether he was doing a wheelie or not, he was aware of his surroundings and knew the car wasn't going to stop. The car was the real idiot in this situation, not giving way, and the guy on the bike was in full control at all times. If he wasn't in control, he'd of come off.

@@maxxsee not hard to say at all. Truck didn't check properly, pushed the red car into the one recording. He put his indicator on and figured everyone would move for him, red car obviously missed it. Lane change collisions are always the fault of the vehicle changing lanes.

You only get a red light ticket if you actually proceed through the intersection, that's why there's two flashes in procession of each other, one when they cross the line and the other when they reach the other side of the intersection, so they won't receive a fine for either of them.

I'm aware they check the pics before issuing the fine and so may see the vehicle going back and choose not to. However once pic is taken that is good enough.
I work at the SDRO, you won't find an official source that explains this because people would take advantage of it, but there are a few forums on it. We would only proceed with a fine if the person was more than half way or was obviously going to continue through the intersection, but as you said it's on a case by case status.
