  • On the 24th March 2019, the Branch Line Society ran a railtour around the North West of England (and a little bit of Wales too). The tour included traversing the Merseyrail system on the Wirral, including up to West Kirby and Rock Ferry.
Hauled by a pair of class 33s top n tailing, this tour was a good excuse to go out and see a rarity to the Wirral, a Loco Hauled Passenger train, with what is believed to be the first Cromptons to ever venture onto the Wirral.
The two class 33s used were West Coast 33029, and the Swanage Railway's 33012 (D6515) Lt Jenny Lewis.
In this video we see the tour at Heswall, West Kirby, Hoylake, Spital and Helsby.
