I started flying hang gliders in 1980 after 500+ hours and a 120 mile flight peaking at 19,000 MSL in 1989 I transitioned to general aviation now 1000 hours later at 75 I am still flying personal recreation in my 1960 Tri-Pacer.
I started to become a private pilot at age 54 but am doing so for fun. What I recommend to anyone older is to take ground school, take and pass their FAA knowledge test, and get their medical before spending any money on flying lessons. Obviously, at older age light sport would be cheaper and easier and hopefully with Mosiac will be even better for older pilots since it will allow a lot more except taking more than 1 person with you.
Thank you!!! I am 67 a student pilot with so far 35 hours and I own a Piper Cherokee 140 I passed my 3rd class medical and then went to basic med I just want to fly and have fun!!! My CFI is 78 he also fly's small jets in the corporate world of aviation!!! We are never to old
48 and just finished my CPL and MEA-IFR after having to give flying away in my 20s due to being unexpectedly financially crippled. Got a charter gig in a Navajo.
The question is not if you are too old. I know many pilots who can pass a medical...pass a check ride and I would never get in a plane with them. Aviation is unforgiving. Many older pilots think they are still sharp but their egos are deceiving them.
Only limits are Money and Medical. I have been flying military and for the airlines for the past 37 years. That said the number of pilots on disability goes up as we age.

Adding to topic: No, you are not too old to become a pilot. Anyone can become a pilot. Very Educational, informative, and intelligence.

8:20 Nah, I'm not into snakes on my plane dawg.

How long have you been working on UA-cam? 🙌
You could fly an open gyrocopter - it's tons of fun...
Hard pass haha

There is no maybe. The answer is no because there are too many avenues or areas of flying in the US. Not everyone wants to be an airline pilot.
The answer is maybe because it depends on what you want to do and how old you are. If you are 70 and want to fly for United, sorry but it's to late.
To old?
