Training on a piece of junk isn't necessarily a bad thing (provided, of course, that there are no compromises to safety). You can learn techniques to get around the missing equipment, which will benefit you greatly if you're in a "nice" plane and that piece of equipment fails.
Great topic and teaching point. Stuff like this is good to get there. I’ve only been to 1 flight school and they were amazing but I am enjoying the independent route and hope to continue that through the rest of my training if possible. But everyone’s situation is different and if this could help one person not get caught up in that mess then good on ya 👍
Don''t even get me started on DPE availability and school's "great relationships" with them. Most farm schools, aka "accelerated", are run by people competing against each other to leave the building. My school has no active instructors who received training from the same school, which seems like a red flag they don't tell you about.
Think he’s referring to ATP. If you wanna actually learn smth, don’t go there. Spoke with a lot of regional FO’s and CA’s, some of whom have been to ATP and most don’t recommend it. They teach you just enough to get by and care more for marketable stats

@@jimhyslop you aren't wrong. But it's totally a bait and switch.
Great point. Plus you don't have to demonstrate that equipment to the DPE.

@@BJJ403 wow. Not a single instructor there is a graduate of the school? I'd definitely be suspicious of it and why that is.
ok now that we've been thru the top 5 how about 6-10
@@alianjohnson6035 haha. I think that might be more school dependent.
What’s the school that does that? 7:21
@@albertodeulofeu5277 I won't name them. I'll say it's actually quite a lot of 141 programs, with 1 or 2 Part 61 programs.
