  • Dr. Connie Zweig presents at The Empty Bell. Dr. Zweig explores her awarding-winning book, "The Inner Work of Age: Shifting from Role to Soul," which treats aging as a spiritual practice, and later in the program she shares highlights from her excellent book, "Meeting the Shadow on the Spiritual Path: The Dance of Darkness and Light in Our Search for Awakening."
In both books she extends her work on the shadow into midlife and beyond, and offers spiritual practices to use the circumstances of our aging to make an internal shift in identity -- from role to soul--from simply getting old to elderhood, from what we do to who we really are. In the last 20 minutes of her talk she introduces her new book, "Meeting the Shadow on the Spiritual Path." In this work, Connie explores how we meet the shadow in the spiritual arena, both in our clergy/teachers and in ourselves. She tells many tales of religious abuse and spiritual disillusionment, as well as how to use spiritual shadow-work to recover our inspiration. For those in later life, she guides us to complete spiritual unfinished business as we face our mortality."
