As the world fell, young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). That warboy is my favorite bit of visual narration in the movie. If you've seen Fury Road and know how warboys work, it's clear that bro bungled a suicide attack (probably against raiders) and was left for dead. But as soon as he was up again my man tried to find his way back to the Citadel, waiting for the next opportunity to gloriously unalive himself.

The revving of bikes are just pure music in IMAX Theatres,I could never forget the experience of watching this movie in IMAX
I thought it was really cool. Very intimidating...if Joe's forces didn't have the high ground. Cool scene to have both sides be very intimidating one after the other.

Wow I just noticed that The Organic Mechanic was one of the two to first approach the War Boy, and the first thing he does is start inspecting him. The other dude is immediately rummaging through his shit to see what items of value he has, but the Organic Mechanic is inspecting to see if he has all of his fingers or to find out why he is so pale. Idk just found that interesting and it makes sense given who he is.

I'd argue the Fury Road did it better in terms of filmmaking and styling, this movie doesn't feel that artistic compared to the first.

Dementus was such a perfect mad max villain. absolutely love the motorcycle chariot, the quirks of his speech, and his retinue of weird road warrior lieutenants. They all fit the mad max aesthetic so perfectly.
I preferred Fury Road overall, but Furiosa had much more depth. As a package deal though, they are the best mad max story by far

What i love of this movie was how it was essentially a build-up of a war. We saw why man may war with itself up until the reson didn't matter anymore.
Many of these small scenes and dialog just get better every time you see them.
I like to believe that in this world the rest of the planet is is just fine. Like Europe and Asia and America all have flying cars and super advanced medicine and plenty of food and fuel, but everyone just forgot about Australia

I saw this in IMAX and for our showing, the theater staff cranked up the sound a bit more than normal as it was the last showing for the night. You HAD TO BE THERE to really appreciate the sheer power of all those bikes revving up. It rumbled through the floor and walls. Chills inducing stuff. A+++ on the design for this movie.

Lots of people are mad / won’t see it because Mel Gibson isn’t starring in it… but it’s director George Miller’s vision and world, not Mel’s. Maybe, in hindsight, he shouldn’t have called the first movie “Mad Max” because now that character name is attached to the franchise 🤷♂️
Or maybe don't kowtow to progressive ideologies and make your main character female. It was barely acceptable in the first one but now George Miller is doubling down by making Furiosa the main character in the 2nd film even though she was basically the main character in the 1st film as well.
It's funny, I remember reading an article from IGN several months after the first one had came out where George Miller went on record to say that if you ever makes a sequel it will have Tom Hardy as the main character and will be entirely about him.
Turns out that was a f***ing lie.

@@gregbors8364 No because the original Alien was an original IP and was meant to be that way because that's how it was written. Mad Max was on already an existing IP (even by Miller himself), his name is in the f****g title and yet a bulk of the Fury Road had Furiosa in it. You can imagine that this would make people upset when the mad Max film franchise was dormant for decades before Fury Road came out.
I'm not surprised at all that Furiosa bombed at the theaters. George Miller didn't read the room. People wanted Tom Hardy to return as Mad Max and have an actual Mad Max movie. Instead, like I said before, he doubled down on his feminism bullshit and made yet another movie about Furiosa.
I love Taylor Joy, and her show The Queens Gambit is amazing. But George Miller should have went with Tom Hardy because let's face it; the target audience for the Mad Max franchises always been predominantly men - especially when you consider the source material and it being placed in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
This vibrated the entire theater. SO glad watching this at the movies.

Underrated movie, it was good and fun action, only thing they fumbled was the 40 day war (the lack of it of course).
I was mad it that it was treated as an ellipse.

I wish the movie did more with the roaming biker gang thing. It was a bit disappointing to see them just park it at Gas Town the rest of the movie.

Ok this installment is as creatively whacked out as Fury Road, some people think this is mindless over the top crap and it is, but it's also an amazing imagined nearly believable take on a a future apocalyptic scenario where all the resources have all run out. II creates this SteamPunk world like no other action movie I have ever seen. In that sense it's like DUNE which also creates a world we can suspend disbelief on. Well done.

In mad max universe that's the ocean floor they are driving in
I mean, it's Australia, one of the least densely populated countries in the world, the land is mostly comprised of deserts.
Also, in the Mad Max universe there's little point in hanging in ruined cities that have probably long been depleted of all ressources. To survive, you need to either stay nomadic and scavenge your way through life (like Dementus' Horde), or find refuge in one of the last settlements that can still provide shelter and ressources (like the Citadel).
It doesn't really make much sense if we're being honest. It's just one of things you have to ignore to enjoy the aesthetics of the world that fury road introduced. The older Max films feature enough roads and vegetation that it's believable the films take place somewhere in rural Australia. Fury Road makes the most bold advancements in the series in terms of changing the landscape and its lore into this ocean of apocalyptic sand and rock almost exclusively.

In the 1979 Mad Max, when the world was still a world and in the process of ending, they were a bunch of cities.
In the end of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome 1985, we see the ruined city of Sydney.
In Mad Max Fury Road 2015, when the gang meets the remaining survivors of the green place, they was a rusty Transmission towers.
In Mad Max 2015 comic, Max and the women he with named Hope go to the ruined city of Sydney to get Max's Interceptor and Hope's daughter Glory that they been taken by Buzzards.
In Mad Max 2015 game, they were a bunch of remaining structures from the ruin city. Like Underdune that was once an airport and a Church that's buried underground in the desert that was once a emergency shelter during the chaos. and etc.

This is awesome, Dr. D really saw himself as all powerful until he meets someone who has more power and unquestioned loyalty. And the fact Dr.D had some care for furiosa to pretect her.

I’m sure they would’ve at least heard about The Citadel before this; never made sense to me.
From who? They have been moving steadily across part of the wasteland mostly killing all they see unless they had rides to join them. The only people who new about the citadel was gas town and bullet farm basically. All of the other groups we see in Furry Road, like the Spiky dudes and the motorcycle group in the canyon are people that broke away from Dementus
they are nomads. they wouldn't know much about the area, and the citadel (while powerful) was a relatively small enclave in the middle of the continent.
Australia is massive, huge mate, even today the vast majority of it is empty, in a world with no internet or news the Chance of finding one little atoll of greenery is less than 1%
But it’s not just a small atoll, it’s one of the fortresses of The Wasteland; thousands of people trading, bartering and sharing information, over what seems like hundreds of miles. Even without modern communication, I find the idea that a massive group of nomadic people, that built a small empire of their own, not having some knowledge of this chunk of ‘civilization’ pretty improbable.

@@brian_john5834 on some level they must of heard of a "citadel" like just one of the random bikers or the warboys must of heard of a large gang but it's feasible that Information wasn't passed around, hell even in modern day people dont know stuff , a good example is when Delta force were in Afghanistan they were doing interrogations on mountain sherpers for information on the Taliban and they were listing of other towns and city's in Afghanistan and the sherpers had no idea their country was even called Afghanistan, they just kept repeating "we are from here" not even able to comprehend that they lived in a nation with other major city's
