How can they have Tonya Harding, but not her more accomplished rival, Nancy Kerrigan? But the most glaring omission, which shows they are ignorant of the history of figure skating, is to leave out the skater who many, especially other skaters, think was the best, and most influential, female figure skater in history. Michelle Kwan told the New York Times in 1997, "I want to be a legend, like Dorothy Hamill and Peggy Fleming. Janet Lynn didn't win an Olympic title, but in every skater's mind she's a legend." Kwan's coach, Frank Carroll, told The New York Times, "The greatest American skater I ever witnessed was Janet Lynn. She had everything, the looks, the music. She was poetry." Janet Lynn was a five-time US national champion, and an Olympic bronze medalist. She was the best female free skater in the world, but what tripped her up was compulsory figures, which counted for 60% of the total score at the time, competing against some of the best at compulsive figures in history. Just preceding Janet, Peggy Fleming was the best at compulsory figures and free skating during her reign, which is why she won World and Olympic titles. Because the public did not understand why Janet, the best free skater, did not win the international competitions-- compulsory figures were not a spectator sport--the officials devalued and eventually eliminated compulsory figures, although Janet says she is not in favor of eliminating compulsory figures because without what she learned from them she would not have been able to accomplish what she did in free skating, and she feels technique is not being properly taught today.

Олег Григорьев If you look at Gracie's accomplishments as a figure skater you can never EVER!!! Call her a LOSER she had some victories and Grand Prix wins so you had a poor taste of judgment between . Bronze medal - third place 1989 Sofia Ladies' singles
Whoever you are you have no right to judge or even call a skater Loser because you don't even know the hardships they've felt just to represent their country and if you pay attention some figure skaters in the list aren't even popular or known for their wins.
If you think these two skaters is a loser SHAME ON YOU 🙄
POOR TASTE OF JUDGEMENT AND YOU SHOULD LEARN TO RESPECT EVERY SKATER SO SHUT YOUR MOUTH 🤐 AND NEVER JUDGE I HOPE YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE THIS QUARANTINE.

@@danielbmuli I respect your dissenting American opinion. You can love your skaters as much as you like and make your own ratings. Of course I know about Gracie Gold and Nancy Carrigan. These are not the worst skaters and could be represented, the latter is known in connection with the Tonya Harding scandal. And by the way, Tonya is present here, does it bother you? The ugliest figure skater in history. Everything is correct about the judging, it is always subjective and the fans will always resent it. I'm not a fan of Sotnikova, but, in fairness, Sarah Hughes is also present here, who I also consider a false champion.
