The competition became so fierce, so to win a gold at the age of 34 is almost unthinkable now. To compete against the 17-18 years old and do all those quads would be crazy and send a 34 year old to the hospital, especially since it's inevitable that they would go through injuries here and there throughout their career. It's amazing how he rise through the ranks like a rocket & stayed at the top for many years. He took his skating very serious & even with continuous injuries didn't stop him from completing. In the Beijing Olympics even with serious injuries he still went on to win gold.

The world ranking is created by converting the ranking of the tournament in which you participated into points, so if you do not participate in the tournament due to injury etc., even if the person is not defeated, there will be no points and the ranking will be automatic. It goes down to. I think that Yuzuru Hanyu's ranking is sometimes low because he was injured during that period and didn't appear in most of the tournaments.

I'm wondering where you got your numbers? Because I could have sworn (and I just double checked on the isu website) Jason hasn't left the top 10 since he entered it in the 2014-15 season? Either way, I could show people this and show them how well he's ranked every year, see he's REALLY GOOD, but it won't matter to people and they'll continue to dimiss him because he doesn't have a million quads. What does it say he can keep up in medal contention even with underscored PCS and without Quads, it just shows how good he really is.
