@@rickstechrepairs i guess luck wasn't enough, i pierced the battery
hey thanks, glad someone's doing the not-iphones. very clear vid. will update if the alternative adhesive I'm trying works out.
no worries at all :)
Great video. Helped me a lot on my Moto One 5G. Exact same process. New screen works!
Glad it helped
That is the best video on step by step fix. My phone is now working agin. Thanks................
Cheers
Thank you for the video, I just replaced the screen of my G 5G 🙂
Great to hear this has helped
@@rickstechrepairs
...?.....,
the best video as it is complete with details missed on the others
Cheers, good to hear I covered it all :)
Appreciate it! Very helpful!
cheers
thank you so much 😃
This video is super clear and very well made.
I'd like to know, does it work also for the "non plus" version ("normal" Moto G 5G)?
thanks for the comment, i think it should be similar steps for a "normal" Model
Amazing, all done in 22 minutes, just one break at 11.27mins, no editing. You’ve convinced me to attempt a cracked screen replacement myself. I’ve checked out the material costs, on eBay (UK), to realise it will cost me less than half the price quoted at my a nearby tech shop (£89). I have the tools needed.
Please can you help me with these questions:
1. I don’t have a hot pad, I can warm my phone in my NEFF oven on plate warming mode, any temperature from 30º to 70ºC. Even 70ºC sound extremely high, are you sure this is, okay?
2. The alcohol ‘Isoprop……? I couldn’t capture the full name and spec, not even on slow motion/freeze frame mode. Please can you state its actual spec and name.
3. It would have been nice to see how you actually test the new screen (5.25 - 5.40 mins) before fully assembled. If you do another clip showing this, please let me know.
Judging from ‘Comments’ it really does work.
My phone is the exact make. Hopefully once I’ve got the job done, I’ll give feedback as to how I have got on.
1. If you access to a hair dryer, that would be the tool to use.
70 degree Celsius is fine
2. Isopropyl Alcohol is the liquid used, helps alot with glue but not always needed
3. regarding testing your new screen prior to opening. once you have the phone back off and can disconnect the exisiting screen 5:29 connect up the new screen to the connector.
the screen will probably be upside down in your hand as the video cable will bend it that way, but you should be able to test it then
Hi Rick,
A resounding success!
I stuck with the oven, a more uniform, accurate and consistent distribution of heat, using 60 then to 65ºC which worked fine. The first pry tool (1.05mins) I used a ring pull anchovy tin lid cut to the same shape as yours. The second pry tool (6.01mins) I made from an old hardwood wedge sanded smooth for reasons stated next.
Removed the back cover. The lithium-ion battery is like plasticine in a plastic bag! I took exceptional care when removing. I’ve read a few reviews about these batteries catching fire. Thankfully the majority have no trouble, most likely why 70ºC worried me.
To remove the LCD screen, I put my phone back in oven for 10mins at 65ºC. Using a big screwdriver (6.52mins) the screen came out in one piece with the black frame attached. Used the oven again to remove the black frame from the LCD screen in one.
Thanks for the close ups at 13.47mins (lens rubber rings) and 14.35mins (ear piece) so I was sure I had put them in the right way around. My camera lens needed aligning with a slight push, back into place, from the other side.
I saved myself money and learned a lot in the process. I hope this is of help to others.
Many thanks Rick for your methodical approach and excellent, in focus, camera work.

My phone identifies itself as moto g 5g 2022. After removing the back as shown here, I'm not looking at the battery, but at a plain black plastic plate. Was I supposed to be taking off two layers in step one?
Thanks so much for this video! Watched it a number of times to get my confidence up on replacing my own Moto G 5G Plus screen.
My phone has been repaired in the past and it looks like they removed the rubber trim around the screen. I'd like to replace it, but can't find the part online. Do you have any suggestions? I thought 1mm foam tape might work as a replacement. I have 2mm foam tape but it's too wide. Could I just fill it with black frame adhesive instead? Cheers.
good luck with your repair
I would go with using black adhesive rather than a foam/ double side tape
Hello - Can I ask where you get your replacement screens from? - I have fixed two of these now and the glass on the replacement part is so VERY fragile - it is definitely not anywhere near as strong as the original glass that came with the phone.
I got mine from a local seller otherwise I usually purchase from Ali express
Most aftermarket displays glass is weaker than the factory's
@@rickstechrepairs Ali express where?
Thanks a lot for the detailled video! Why did you use these two glues? Does it work glueing all with the B-7000? Thanks
Haha not sure why I used two different kinds, I think different size nozzle on the end of the tube
@@rickstechrepairs Thanks a lot for this video! Just went along with the video replacing my screen - all with B-7000 ;)
Is there an approach where the back panel does not need to be removed when u want to repair just the LCD?
No, because you can't get to the LCD connector from the front
@@rickstechrepairs thanks. This is more complicated than the previous devices I've owned.
I usually fix my phones my self
Bought a brocken moto G 5G plus and .....😅
Gonna have some bad moments to replacing the screen ,
I don't want break the old one , since it's working perfectly , just the glass is shatered , will try fix it too
But the way they built it makes it impossible to take out without breaking it i suppose
Good luck
@@rickstechrepairs
I need it lol thanks ,
The most part i'm scared about is taking off the screen without damage it
Hello can i use only one type of glue becouse i saw u used 2 types?
don't see why you couldn't mix
So just to be clear this process doesn't harm the storage on the phone in any way possible right?
no it should not but there is the risk
I hope that you will put a purchase link for this (screen) or a specific type that you recommend from a trusted dealer,
thank you 🙏🌹
I purchased from a local store, so no link
Thanks 🙏
Is there a possibility of replacing just the glass screen? not the entire LCD and digitizer.?
Not without a crazy amount of time, or expensive gear
So it's cheaper for the individual to just do the screen glass part
can the oca glass of moto g 5g plus work with moto g 100 ??
No idea
@@rickstechrepairs i think that they are the same
Bonjour, quel produit utilisez-vous pour facilité le décollage (ramollir la colle), merci
isopropyl alcohol and Heat pad ( 75 o c)
@@rickstechrepairs merci
75°C is aka 167°F
No idea on the conversion
Is that heat pad off a 3D printer?
nope, a S-918E headpad
Perhaps I missed it, but you should advise or prewarn viewers that they should not use metal tools when working on phones or other electronic equipment! Batteries especially should not have metal tools used around them! The risk of fire is far to great, and those fires are toxic and hard to extinguish!
pretty sure i mentioned it at the battery remove, or at least i usually do
What do you do when those small screws won't come loose? 😂
they should come out
if you strip the head of the screws, you are a bit out of luck
@@rickstechrepairs I got most of them but they seem to have used some Teflon or something like that. 4 of them just wouldn't come out so I drilled them out and glued them shut afterwards :')
Thanks for the video, it really made the process easy!
I need moto g 5g plus display
look on aliexpress
@@rickstechrepairs There are so many how to know which one is better
