I was hoping to find out where the antenna is located to make sure I'm not obstructing it. I did learn there are probably one or more for 5g and the main for 4g and below but still don't know where that is.
Could you tell me the size in mm, the back lens glass for the (rear) camera of a Moto G 5G? I broke mine but replacements on the web, list it as 22.3mm, not ~21mm when measured (like the Moto G9)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you know where the ringer IC is located (sub board or main board) I had a ringer problem tried replacing ringer but it did not help.

I dont know how you guys crack these so much. I literally bent my phone unto a u shape and the screen isnt cracked. It just doesnt charge anymore. I threw it on concrete as hard as i could and still didnt crack the screen

Seriously though, I think the reason why is that these phones seem to hit sometimes at exactly the wrong angle. When I heard my land, if it's lit off my motorcycle seat and I heard it smack on concrete. I knew right then before I even looked.

You're welcome. Ya older HTC models were extremely cluttered and difficult to take apart but the more recent models aren't as bad. But ya other manufacture phones tend to me easier. I miss HTC a lot, wish they would come out with a really good flagship again one day.
Oh my lord...the teardown of the HTC m8 was ludicrous, so much going on in there. Totally agreed this phone looks 10x easier to service.
I remember the nightmarish repair on the HTC-10, a crazy bad design with the battery mounted under the main board and a spaghetti of wires. They have improved afterwards, but lost marketplace then sold of most of their IP to Google in 2017. heh

I have trouble hearing when using any phone, so i wanted to know where the phone speaker was located so as best place to put my ear. This tear down was exactly what i needed. Great job!

AT 6:17 you instruct on applying new adhesive, and applying your backplate. Where do you purchase, I assume, the new adhesive? Can something else be substituted for the New Adhesive? Thx

To get to the power / volume buttons and cable do you have to take all that back off or just the front glass?
You would need to disassemble both the back and pry the screen off as well (posing a risk of damaging your screen). Since the wire is routed through the mid frame, it requires it to be taken apart from both sides. I don't like this design they implement since its pointless and risks damage to the screen.

Hi, no you should be fine. The microphone sits above the hole so it would not get damaged.
Is it possible to replace the sim card reader on this phone? My device is no longer detecting my sim card due to some damage around the camera.
the sim reader is soldered to the main board, and even though it is replaceable, its not user replaceable. Requires soldering skills and equipment. You can always contact motorola and send it in to them for it to be repaired/replaced.

Hello, I have this one and it's 5g. I dropped it in water before. it turns on it works perfectly fine the only thing is, is it glitches and turns into a pink screen and starts glitching then I goes into a black screen then goes back to normal. everything else works fine. any idea on what I can to do repair it or what I can buy for parts in order to repair it or able to tell me what components are needing repairs?
You would need to take it apart, disconnect the battery cable and dry out any liquid inside or else it can damage the phone more by you using it in this condition. Also you would have to brush off any corrosion on the chips or connectors with a small brush like a tooth brush and then see if the phone will work normally after. If not you might need a new screen or a new motherboard depending on which is causing the issue. You wont know until you test it out.

What are the 2 wire cables? Took my phone apart to discover the black one was disconnected
The wire or coaxial cables usually are used for antenna connections but sometimes related to charging and other things.
Ever since I repaired my phone sceen, my phone does not connect to 5g anymore, only 4g. Did I maybe put the cables in the wrong place?
It's possible. Make sure the motherboard/sub board are seated properly and all cables are connected properly. Also check and make sure the motherboard cover and speaker assembly plastic on bottom are properly in place and screwed down since they have antenna lines drawn over them.

Ok . . I am buying a bad imei phone and putting my motherboard from my broken screen phone on the good screen phone. with that said at the end you say to apply adhesive. What kind of adhesive and where do you put it?
Here is a link to a website which has the parts for the phone. One other question. Can I take and replace a board from metro into a Verizon Motorola one 5G ace?
@@brettupthagrove1873 You should be able to, the only thing is the metro one might not have the software on it that has the correct bands for verizon. If that is the case, you would need to flash a stock verizon firmware onto the board.
Do you need to reapply the adhesive?

If you are referring to the coaxial cables/wire cables on the right side of the board that go from the main board to the sub board, they are antenna contact cables. What if my phones screen is broken and the phone use to vibrate when I plug in power but now it doesn’t vibrate or boot up? Any help would be great
Not sure, its possible the display would need to be replaced or water may have got in from the cracks and damaged the phone or many other things.

Hi, I don't have the phone anymore and I don't usually pry working screens off since there is a high chance of damaging them or breaking them. I explained in the video what you need to do in order to replace the screen. After its taken apart, all you need to do is apply heat to the front side of the screen and pry the old screen off from the frame. Then apply new adhesive, re apply your new screen making sure you run the cable through the opening in the frame, and re assemble the phone. If you go to mobiledefenders.com they should have the original pre cut adhesive you can order to re apply your new screen or they also sell complete screen assembly that is attached to the frame already, so you can just move all your parts from the old phone to the new frame assembly and don't need to pry off any screen and re apply a new one etc.

Thanks for this video, I've decided l can't do this job myself so I'll buy the screen and bring it with me on my next trip down to S. America and have them replace it for me. Get another replacement phone too.

A bit scary but Success! Replaced my screen. Thanks for the video! The most dangerous thing is getting the battery out. If you puncture the battery it's toast. The Isopropol, heat, and patience is the way to go. Oh ya, pull your SIM card first.

Would require to disassemble the phone and pry the screen off as well (which would pose a risk of breaking or damaging the screen) since the flex cable is ran in between the frame and screen and sits under the motherboard. Most likely you would need to get a new screen with frame combo that comes with the new buttons pre installed.
Could you do a speaker repair on this phone!? Cute I spilled a bit of coffee on my phone, and unless I use Bluetooth headphones, the sound is muffled
You would probably need to either replace the speaker mesh filter from the inside wall of the frame where the speaker opening is or replace the speaker itself. The video shows how to take it apart, so all that would be left is for you to order a replacement speaker and replace it by watching the video.

You can apply heat with a hair dryer and use anything that is plastic and thin to avoid scratching up or damaging the housing or parts.

Hi, if you want you can contact motorola, they have a repair center you can send your phone in to get repaired. I think they charge like $149 for screen replacement if I am not mistaken.

I usually advise to get 3rd party insurance (or Accidental Damage Protection).
My power button is broken right now. I've taken my phone to 2 repair shops and they both said they couldn't do it because they have to remove the screen and it risks damaging the phone. I'm pretty much at my wit's end here. I can't let the power go out ever or I'll never be able to turn my phone back on again.
Yeah it sucks on these moto phones how they run the flex cable from behind the screen causing it to be an issue for power button replacements.
My phone’s power button is also broken, and after WhatsApp update it hung and shutdown. No way of starting it again.

You make it look so easy. My screen shattered after only 2 months of having the phone. They want $185 to replace it :( . I don't think I can do this myself.

They sell the lcd screen with frame pre attached for $68 USD plus if you were to get new adhesive for the back plate to re attach it, they sell that pre cut adhesive for the phone for $4 so would run you much cheaper. Or you can also contact motorola and ask how much they would charge for a screen repair. They offer repair services too, some phone screens they charge $99 plus tax but varies from model to model.

Hi thanks, the reason I don't pry off the screens is because I don't want to damage a working display when all that is left after the disassembly as shown in the video is to heat up the screen and pry it off the frame. Usually I explain the process in the videos but I don't actually pry it off again not to damage the working display.

Editing this is above paragraph here now what I meant to say was people don't call the Snapdragon processor a Qualcomm processor.
Most people would not know what you're talking about. They hear Snapdragon in the marketing , the marketing is what called called Qualcomm is responsible for as well as the design.
Well Snapdragon is just a name, it's a name that people are familiar with in the marketing of the phone.
Also doesn't account for the security chip by Qualcomm which you did not also point out its location.
Its the same thing, snapdragon is made by Qualcomm. Just a branding.

I watched the whole video so I could replace my screen but that's the only step you didn't show yourself doing 🙃
Once the phone is taken apart, all that is left is to heat up the screen and pry it off. Nothing else to it. Also they usually sell screen's pre attached to the frame so you can just move over the parts from one frame to the other without having to pry any screen off and re apply etc.
