    Tom MOVE THE FEED BIN..! It’s in the way, you will be able to roll the clamp better,gain more space in the yard etc etc it makes sense to move it to where the Diesel tank was😊 MOVE IT!

      @@melkebonde1969 realistically no but he was developing his yard and no matter where he placed it, it was not in the best place, he should probably put a bank of bins on the silage pit side of the slurry store , 1 for an energy feed, 1 for a protein rich feed and 1 for a high fibre feed ( a fourth for a too cheap to ignore feed is also a welcome addition) we auger it directly into our mixer wagon with augers that are remote controlled from the tractor cab ( cheap and easy to do) it also makes financial sense as we are using straights for most of the meals that the cows get which is far more cost effective than buying in premix from a miller , also eliminates fillers commonly found in premix.

      Tom good time now to move that bin. Every year when you open the clamp you repeat every year that there is waste silage around that awkward corner where the wall goes around the bin. The cost saving in making silage and then throwing it in the midding will pay back Moores for more concrete to reposition the bin on a new slab. Also the spout on the bin was damaged with a certain driver in a tractor! Great seeing Andrew, the big crane and the Wareing team putting up the steels, needed an extra long video Tom ..........................! We like the concrete and steel videos.

    I have a small question. do you think the new roof on the sillage will impact the air flow in the cow shed ?
    I would say, we are almost ready for a smoke bomb experiment with the specialist.
    Regarding the bin, I would wait until until the viewing area and the calf shed are up to see where you want to put it
    You may even want to go for bogger bins for the maize storage, or not. but you will only know by end of the year.
    There are enough things right now going on, you need to rest, recover and take a bit of time for your family too

    Well done Tom on covering in the clamp, sure it will transform your silage making and the winter feeding too. Yes definitely move the bin while you have the crane on site it's ideal time. Putting a shed up these days is easy compared to what we did 40 years ago. No cranes, no real H&S with hard hats etc. Not even a telehandler used, all done with DB 990 with a loader and a triangular frame bolted to that to gain more height. Used to anchor upright rsj's with an MF 135 and a 9 hole draw bar on the linkage chaining this to the rsj until it was squared up and concreted in. 6x2 purlins carried up ladders on our shoulders . All those sheds are still standing too.

    • @Fisha695
      @Fisha695 23 дні тому +8

      @@MrKuerbiskopf96instead of of solar for electricity it could always be used to put one of those solar water heater systems in (like for pools). With the amount of hot water used on the farm, in the shop & in the house daily it'd be a massive improvement in reducing the amount of other fuel needed to bring the water up to temperature. Could also do a solar HVAC loop sort of like the hot water one but it goes through a heat exchanger connected to the heating system for everything.

    Tom you give a masterclass in how to get things done and make things happen. You are such a can do person and I hope to visit the farm shop soon. 😊
