One of the most emotional speeches from a coach that Edwards got.
'Dont let him bully you son!',
'Stop feeling sorry for your fkn self!',
'You gotta pull this sht out of fire!'
He really pulled it out of fire at the very last moment.
And what a setup, Usman never saw the third piece.

The way Leon set up that head kick was perfection. 1st guy to take Usman down, mount him, took his back and nearly got the RNC. The altitude definitely had an effect on Leon. Usman trains at altitude with already insane cardio. The trilogy will be interesting.

Except GSP was 25 years old, not in his prime and had a lot to learn still and Usman is 35 years old in his prime. Not the same. But Usman had quite a run, but he isn't GSP. Making the point that Usman is now where GSP was having lost when he wasn't supposed to (presumably he means to Serra) is all well and good but Edwards fully earned his shot. Also, the idea that Usman will just 'put things right' and win easily next time is all well and good but he's had two full fights (almost) with Edwards now and the only danger Edwards has ever been in was on the scorecards. Not once was he really hurt or in any dangerous positions. Edwards had Usman defending a triangle for well over a minute in the first fight and was attacking a RNC for over a minute in this fight and then knocked him out cold.

You made promises and kept 100 and true to yourself, I thought you were real and I invested, I believed you were telling us all along, for years, with your choice actions and words that you work quietly and you work the hardest, and many saw that humility and careful purpose as tentative or scared. The invincibility thing is true. When I was 9-10 I did karate (sparring matches) and always lost to a buddy of mine. Finally made it to large tournament and drew him at random. I was devastated and assumed I’d lose since I lost every other time. I beat his ass, won the tournament and never lost to him again. Flipped the script and in practice or competition he never beat me again. Crazy how one moment of one match changed something that had been going on for about 2 years

He was avoiding eye contact with usman at the start as well, obviously a massive occasion that would cause many to choke n it did affect him imo, yet thruout the fight he held his own, i thought it was slipping away tho n i was halfheartedly shouting at tv telling him to do something n then he did something lol it was sensational.

The "even when you were 9 years old" phrase was a simple yet such a great example.
We indeed carry those beliefs from when we are young about the unbeatable opponent, the first student in class, the most experienced worker in the company.
And you realise that the harder you work, the more you close the gap and one day out of nowhere there is no invisible opponent.

Eddie Alvarez went to the body to great affect when he fought Gaethje, in hindsight it appeared to be a pivotal aspect of his game plan for fighting Gaethje, In saying that i could not understand why after such a successful first round the wind just seemed to leave Edwards sails. To me he had a chance in the second to put his stamp on the fight. At first i honestly thought he was playing rope a dope against the cage until he gave up the take down so easily and then he did the same thing over and over, but like they say the champions find a way to win and i hope this give Edwards the confidence he seemed to be lacking throughout that fight, his ability to reverse cage grappling and spring to his feet after take downs makes him a handful for the wrestlers of the division.
