After eating this salad for a week, my gut was sooo happy! Simple ingredients (and especially a combo of protein and fiber) really do make me feel my best. 🥰 What are some other protein + fiber combos you guys are loving? xo - Lisa
This reminds me of a Portuguese “Salada de feijão miúdo”. It’s black eyed peas, tuna, finely chopped onions, fresh parsley, olive oil, wine vinegar & salt. So simple & delicious!
Yes, as I was watching the video I was thinking that black eyed peas would work really well in this salad. This is indeed similar to our “salada de feijão frade”, but with the added touches of olives, capers and sundried tomatoes. Also, it looks lighter and drier than ours, which can sometimes be a little wet and mushy. I’ll surely try this soon 😊

My Wife and I just adore your bright, deelish pescetarian & vegetarian heart healthy recipes. Divine! Brava! ❤
Hi Lisa! Thanks for the great recipe! That tuna is a quality tuna, I get mine from American Tuna, which is also a very good quality tuna. That liquid in the can is actually part of the tuna. If you put that tuna in a bowl, or just break it up in the can, it will reabsorb that liquid. Not all recipes need this, but the difference is amazing! Thank You Lisa! You are Awesome!
Great recipe! My only note is that since the juices in the can are from the tuna, I stir it back in to keep it from being dry. Wild Planet and Safer Catch both recommend using the juice! :)
OMG It looks delicious 🤤 I need to buy dried tomatoes. I will skip herbs and use baby spinach.😊 In Spain we called that onion cebolla morada (purple onion). FYI in Spanish the adjective is after the noun. Thanks for the recipe Lisa!!! 🤗
Great video 💫 I have made a similar salad from time to time, but will definitely try this recipe. For prepping large portions, I would prefer keeping the diced cucumber in it’s own jar to prevent it from getting “soft” 😉
This will be added to all your recipe’s that we love. Looks so yummy and I can’t wait to mix it up especially during this very hot weather, perfection. Thank you Lisa!❤❤❤
This was instantly put up on my Facebook wall, because it is so needed in this heat, and a quick meal that covers all the basics. If you have allergic reaction to Milk, Feta from Greece is made from Sheep milk, but always check. Make sure it is safe for you. Also, you can add in cucumbers to this mix and so many other veg. I would also add in (just me garbanzo beans as well). If you think "Nicoise salad", adding in lightly steamed green beans or even asparagus in this would work as well. (I know, I am strange).
I love these kinds of salads and I often put all kinds of vegetables, quinoa, beans with tuna or chicken or dry meat, and my gut says yey.. happy days😅
@@Downshiftology You’re welcome & it was very good. I went to get all the ingredients to make the baked feta.. so happy I found the Castelvetranos in the store. Going to make it this week! TY
The gadget reminds me of my grandmother and the Tupperwear she used to store the jalapenos. It was a nesting strainer thing you lift up to get to the jalapenos. I've thought of using it for sliced pickles but bot veggies sticks.
I made this and it is so delicious! I love all the briny flavors and the pieces of sun-dried tomato. I will be making this a lot!❤❤❤ I chopped up a little purple cabbage and put the salad on top. I love all the crunch.
A great dish for hot summer days! If you like salad with tuna, you should also try rice salad with tuna. I ate for the first time in France and was thrilled. 👍👍
I've just shared your channel with a friend of mine who recently discovered she's allergic to gluten, dairy and a bunch of other foods. Your channel and your blog are great resources for people who need to modify their diet.
I’m so excited to try this salad to get more protein into my diet. Thank you so much for all of your creative tasty recipes! I have a “kitchen hack” for slicing the green olives…I use my egg slicer. I can usually fit 3 olives in it and it’s so much faster to slice them that way! 😊
YUM! Can't wait to try this fresh salad. I'm also enjoying your French carrot salad this summer. It makes the perfect cool and easy side for lunch or dinner.
I felt so lonely in thinking I was the only one who taught red onion should be called a purple onion. Thank you, Lisa. Wonderful salad, it would be my go-to in the summer.☺
This looks perfect. You have so many great salads, especially the broccoli salad, that I am thinking that perhaps your next book should focus on Salads.
This looks really good and I'll try it this weekend. Comments on your video (don't have to post): I like your new liquid separator gadget and thought about one additional small gadget you may like is a tuna can strainer, fits over the can perfectly. I just rinse immediately afterwards and store. And as a former lab guy, I noticed the bean rinsing clip... Use the water stream over the strainer to add water to the can and dump those Two Stubborn beans out. Less frustrating and the can is now ready for the recycle bin. I enjoy your blog!
This is an excellent salad to take to work. Since tomato season is so short, I'll be using cherry tomatoes from my garden instead of sun-dried. In fact, this is a salad that can be tweaked according to the season...I'll use veggies/herbs from my garden or farmers markets now, and then other alternatives when veggies aren't in season. Think I'll add hearts of palm at some point, too.
A fruit salad recipe would be nice. I call red onions and red cabbage purple all the time. Thank you for inspiring us to prepare healthy meals. Love from Texas

This looks delicious and tuna is always my go to but I’m so tired of the same salad I always make. How do you keep your kitchen so tidy and clean while cooking? Maybe one day you’ll make a video with a wide angle and we can see all the magic of how you keep yourself tidy while cooking. Also, did I miss the new home tour? ❤ I’m “this close” to getting on the gram again just for your daily content.
Oh trust me, my kitchen is not always this tidy and clean! But I always make sure to clean it after cooking 😊 And yes, you can see all the behind the scenes on my Instagram stories!! I'll try to post more here on UA-cam community, but most of my day-to-day life is shared on Instagram.
Lisa, which size of the WECK jars did you store your leftovers in? I would prefer the plastic lids, as the rubber gasket and glass lid and clips are so annoying. Thanks for the recipe
Not sure if anyone can help...I was under the impression that when using that specific tuna, you were not to drain it...but rather keep those omega oils released??
Yes, you can absolutely keep that liquid. If I'm using the tuna in other recipes, I'll often keep it. But in this salad, it can make it a bit runny. But up to you!

In Brazil, this kind of onion is called purple onion (cebola roxa)
Brazilians know what's up! Haha. ;)
Looks delicious! With that brand the small amount of liquid is supposed to be reincorporated to help with the flavor and dryness of the tuna.
Absolutely!
