my honeycomb didn't do that to my image, I'm like what camera and lens combo does he use, that it handles and intakes the light totally dif than my GH5/godox w/ softbox & honeycomb grid... It frustrates me to no end 4 years later I still can't seem to pull off the cinematic look, or even just a half professional look.

Great video. It definitely showcases the power of the honeycomb grid. Also, I was wondering what settings were you using in your camera. Thanks in advance.
it definitely does and shooting at f2.8, shutter at 50 fps, frame rate 24fps and iso at 100-800 but just depends on the specific shot your talking about.
What if you aren't able to get the light overhead would this still work, with turning down the iso? I have white walls in the room i'm shooting and do have a grid on my light.
sometimes we tend to overthink things, start by keeping it simple and then add more dynamic lighting as needed to amplify the scene or emotion you want to evoke.
@@ricofernandez18 I'm not sure that would require me seeing your setup and gear and then a more in-depth conversation but it sounds like if you have all the gear you just need to practice a lot more my friend.
This tutorial is very helpful, I’m currently learning the basic bits bout filmmaking I’m curious what’s the name of the other light you used with the white cloth on it?
This was great! I have always wanted to get into filmmaking but I can't decide what camera to start with. Can't decide whether to use a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. I am thinking about a Canon DSLR. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you ! I don't have a large budget (The most I can spend is $700)
I came over from the beauty/makeup niche where we want all the lights, no shadows and all the colors true to color. But im working on a collab for Domestiv Violence and needed some cinematic lighting technique ideas. This hit the nail on the head!! Thanks
PERFECT PERFECT PERFECt Ever thank u so much for these amazing information no jung information no extra useless talk all amazing and cinematic never seen before ^^ THANK YOU
Great video. What is the advantage of using the fill light with the key light if you are looking for the flat beauty diffused kind of lighting? I saw your other video using just one light for the flat diffused lighting look. Also which LED panel light are you using for your fill light? I do not see that in your list of equipment used. Do you miss not having bi color lighting control with the Aperture 120D light?
Sir, the footage you show of model in the monitor....is this straight of camera or post editing ? Also please advise your exposure value I guess you maintain 0.0 while lowering down ISO.?
Just subscribed. I'm trying to get into documentary filmmaking/cinematography and music videos. I have no idea what lights I should get but this video helped a bit. Thanks
Am I right to assume that you were using a fill light at 8:08 for Setup #2? You didn't mention the fill light beside your camera but I'm guessing you used that fill light with the T-shirt? Fantastic results. You earned yourself a sub.

Great video, really stimulating! Just a note, for negative fill it’s meant the use of a black flag to block bouncing lights, if you close the window you still have white materials bouncing light and filling shadows. I know you did use a black flag, I’m just making a point about the term in relation to the closed window. Subbed, I’m very curious to see what’s coming next!
Were u shooting in pro res or raw for the example footage or did u have a lut on? The footage in ur test footage is not faded like raw is which is harder to pick up all the lighting brightness
Great Video!! I have been interested in film making for sometime, but I can't decide what camera to start with. Do you have any recommendations for a beginner camera? I am thinking about a Panasonic or Canon. Thanks for your help!
I believe its called banding, there's lots of ways to explain this but its basically the camera having issues with darkness, or youtube Compression could be causing this also, maybe how his camera handles lossy file formats too in compression. It is worth researching though. This one was fairly minimal

Yes. but your likely gpoing to need neg fill flags or cutters to properly control your light

do you use the honeycomb grid always with the diffusion ?
it depends if I'm looking for some spill or not or if I want really directionally focused and soft light
