RVDHAFCA Great thing about acting, lets nice folks get in touch with their shadow side in a healthy way. We’ve all got one, and getting to exercise it in that kind of way kind of exorcises it as well.

Ian's acting was the best part. Even though palpatine's return made no sense.
You can tell how much Ian Mcdiarmid loves to play The Emperor
It would make more sense if the First Order was actually a cult determined to resurrect Palpatine. The man himself didn’t have to be behind all this. He could just be a consequence, not the cause.

The idea of bringing back the Emperor wasn't a terrible idea imo (Mostly because I love Mcdiarmid's performance) but it should've been much better integrated into the trilogy.
JJ wanted to bring him and his clones back in Episode VII, but the idea didn’t go ahead at the time.
@L J According to Kathleen Kennedy, they planned to bring him back even before The Force Awakens. That's possibly the reason for which Colin Trevorrow exited the project: he didn't attend the story conferences for the trilogy and thus his script featured Palpatine still dead yet appearing in hologram form.
Oh, if this could happend in the original third trilogy could be a complete insanity
They’ll make it better retroactively

@@TechXV7 I think you don't know what you are talking about
The Sequels is what killed Star Wars. The fact this whole timeline between the Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker was terribly written and was not star wars feeling at all. "Oh crap we killed Snoke off. May as well bring Palpatine back". Its a joke of a movie. Even Last Jedi. Sequel trilogy should not be canon AT ALL. I refuse what happens. Joke of a movie.
@@TechXV7 yeah but thats mostly cat and mouse with the first order and the resistene. Cool scenes in that, of course, but Luke was weak and not a lot of people liked seeing that including myself. No big fights, it was just running around. Force Awakens had a great start to it until someone took the role of director and messed it all up.
@@TechXV7 Yes, he has his limits, but he wasn't the only reason why the movie bombed in general. The whole plot to take over the Resistence was a mess. Chasing them around like the game tag, was stupid. Leia getting sucked out of a ship and surviving... apparently she's super women (not really). You and I both know this and many others. That's why if anyone actually loved the Sequels excluding Force Awakens, you can't really call yourselves true star wars fans until you understand the lore in between those 2 movies. Rise of Skywalker being the worst out of all of them. Yuck
This trilogy could have been great if they planned it all the way through...
Yeah I agreed with you indeed
they did. Rian Johnson threw it all out the window and for some reason, Disney just let him do it. JJ had an entire trilogy planned out, they've said that from the beginning and Johnson even said in interviews that he "didn't like" the storyline that was offered to him.
@@jschools1392 Not true, Yes JJ had ideas, but the problem was...... 3 directors, 3 different writers etc and more in the end .. what they didn't have and needed..... was the story arc set in stone....... Palpatine should have been revealed in eps 8 and the arc concluded in 9 - That is when Luke should have died also, but alas. (From a certain point of view of course)
George didn't have the original trilogy planned all the way through.. hence Luke and Leia making out lol
George Lucas had a plan, they got rid of it and got JJ Abrams to create a plan. Abrams had a plan, then Rian Johnson threw it out the window and Carrie Fisher died. So it would have been impossible for them to stick to any of the old plans regardless. I think they did a decent job of salvaging what they could for Episode IX. It's very hard to make a good Episode IX when VIII painted you into a corner and one of your main actors died suddenly.

So why the hell did they choose to get palpatines “grand daughter” who’s not even really that anymore to kill him and then take the skywalker name. Anakin, Luke, Ben vs Palpatine. That would’ve been epic
Well, tbf it was kinda a Mace windu move but only if the lightning was deflected longer
@@user-sy9jn2zf8m yeah, what you suggest would have made more sense than what we got.
I’m ok with the way he died, I just think the « I’m all the Jedi » and then the second lightsaber felt cringe.
In my opinion, it should have been Ben that defeated the emperor. See Ben not only redeemed, but also defeating the dark side, and TRULY finishing what his grandfather started. A full redemption.
When they called him and asked him he just should have answered: „ Gooood“
"Within about 30 seconds of discussing that idea we just knew it was the right idea"
"Within about 30 seconds of discussing that Idea we just knew it was the right idea" wow, a full 30 seconds to REALLY flesh out and discuss the repercussions of doing such a thing. Bravo. You know some people would have thought of it for just a single moment, but you really gave it the good ole 30 second though, nice
Well, a $4 billion property beloved by 4 billion-plus people only deserves about 30 seconds of consideration... Thanks, Jar Jar Abrams.
"A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me"
"within 30 seconds of discussion that idea we knew it was the right idea" should have thought 30 seconds longer to realise there were better ways to go
Lmao true
They could have executed it really well, but of course they did not
Yeah I would have preferred Snoke. You don't even have to change the imagery at all just get Andy Serkis back instead of Ian.
@Pierat matt smith was ment to play a young darth sidious and rey and ben would of had a lightsaber battle with him, probs better than yoda vs sidious fight, but nope we get lightning hands tbh someone has a big fetish for lightning hands were was the lightsaber fight!!! sutch a failure 😒😒😒😒
As much as the film was up and down, McDiarmid back was outstanding! His design, presence, the king of an ancient cult! That was cool!
Ian is one of the best things to ever happen to Star Wars, we’ll never see him again as Palpatine and I’m going to miss him, thank you Ian for giving it all in the 5 movies we saw you in
He surprisingly has a very relaxing voice, he rivals Dr t himself
JJ: you wanna play the emperor?
Ian: dew it!
3:03 he said 'I'm hesitating" and I thought "Do not hesitate! Show no mercy!"
Yes it was planned from the very start to have Palpatine, but JJ only called him a year ago saying they were thinking of bringing the Emperor back.
Ian's agent: "would you like reprise the role of the emperor?"
Ian: "Do it!"
I think he actually lives his life as palpatine everyday
Rise of Skywalker was garbage, but Ian is always great as Palpatine. This was no exception.
good 4 u, how bout next time if u dont like something, stfu and dont comment nothing, dont ruin it for people who like it hatter
Ian McDiarmid did a great performance, but Disney tarnished the character
@@KC-hg8zz are you the comment police? stfu
@@KC-hg8zz Imagine disliking free speech. Man, couldn't be me.
Really now, how degenerate is your comment, and what was its thought process, if there even was any?
@@aRetailArchitect congrats, notice how no one cares what ya said 👍
Him and kylo were by far the best characters in this movie
Ian and Adam were the 2 best actors in Episode IX.
Hello Ren
Why did you have to kill me?
@@generalgrevious7896 Cause all star wars characters need dead parental figures
@@batmitesolos7097 couldn't have said it better
I’d be interested to know what Ian *truly* thinks of The Rise of Skywalker, especially Palpatine’s demise.
LifeOfRy from his general reaction and attitude towards talking about it, he seems to like it quite a bit.
Yankee Force Studios I have truly mixed feelings, more so toward the negative. The emperor’s death was done poorly in my view.
@@yankeeforcestudios5431 Yeah, he liked the money, lol.
LifeOfRy I mean it could’ve been done better, but I prefer it to exploding into blue air.
Yankee Force Studios it just felt really underwhelming after this HUGE revelation of the character having survived after all this time. It could’ve been incredible, but they missed the boat on this one :(
i love this guy, he seems like hes so nice, he is so calm, he is an amazing actor and plays my favorite character!
Ian definitely deserves an award like an Oscar he is a terrific actor
