Palpatine was pure evil and he just used Anakin to destroy Jedi, because of him Anakin turned and he just used him. Anakin lost everything because of him. Palpatine used Anakin's weakness to turn into Dark Lord of the Sith.
With performances from Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid standing out, the action that is some of Star Wars' best and a story that is brilliant in idea, and solid in execution here, Revenge of the Sith is the finest the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars franchise has to offer.
McDirmand: With four, now five films since I'm now part of the Empire Strikes Back. Me: Now you're in the Rise of Skywalker, so that makes six films. You're also in the Clone Wars, Rebels, and Angry Birds. That's countless movies, if only six films.
he is easily the best thing about STARWARS....he commands respect and authority in a not so obvious charming sort of way which makes him even more dangerous....he is the only one vader was truly afraid of until return of the jedi, no other actor but him could have portrayed a character far more evil than vader himself
I love Ian as the Emperor, but sometimes he was way way too over the top in Episode III... the dialogue didn't particularly help... but he was a saving grace, despite the material he had to work with... but he needed some more subtlety, even when he reveals himself to be the Sith lord
It sorta makes sense, though. He's finally triumphant, after years of the Sith planning everything out, he finally succeeds in destroying the Jedi. He has pretty good reasons to act like a victorious ham :p
Medalion but Ian as the emperor being too over the top completely makes since because the emperor has succeeded on what he was trying to do for years and that is destroying the jedi so he has pretty good reasons to be victorious cause he has won
The thing is though, he was subtle THROUGHOUT the appalling episodes 1 and 2. And he did it very well. Once he revealed himself as the Sith Lord, there really was no need to hide anymore. So I agree that there maybe was a degree of OTT with his performance in the 3rd movie, I don't think there was an overwhelming need for any more subtlety :)
Darkside gameing Lucas only directed A New Hope. Empire and Jedi were directed by Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand. George Lucas did not Executive Produce any of the original trilogy movies. A New Hope and Jedi were produced by Gary Kurtz. Empire was produced by Howard Kazanjian. George Lucas is only responsible for the screenplay and story of Empire and Jedi. As for the prequels, all three of them were directed by George Lucas and produced by Rick McCallum. George was quite literally surrounded by yes men during the production of the prequels, which meant that he had no one around to call him up on stupid bullshit like Jar Jar Binks. The Phantom Menace was the first movie George had directed since A New Hope. You say not to blame George Lucas, the man who wrote and directed all three of the prequels, so I'm curious. If we don't blame the man who had complete control over everything in the production, who _do_ we blame?
Darth Sidious began life as Sheev Palpatine, an ambitious politician from Naboo. He later met and studied under the powerful With Lord, Darth Plagueis. After murdering his master, as is typical of the Sith, Palpatine grew his ambition, eventually becoming supreme chancellor of the republic. If his Sith powers were not enough to make him cinema's greatest dark lord, his command of the unmatched military might of the Galactic Empire might be.
Revenge of the Sith was generally praised for its mature tone, action sequences, emotional weight, and stellar performances by Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, with Samuel Leroy Jackson, and Christopher Lee.
It is hard to believe that such a malignant, malevolent, evil, demonic S.O.B. is played by such a sweet and wonderful gentleman. That is what a great actor is able to do.

The drama/stakes are why I love the Mace and Sidious fight. So much is on the line, and I find the scene really intense. 🙌
Palpatine was pure evil and he just used Anakin to destroy Jedi, because of him Anakin turned and he just used him. Anakin lost everything because of him. Palpatine used Anakin's weakness to turn into Dark Lord of the Sith.
And 14 years later, he’s back
With performances from Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid standing out, the action that is some of Star Wars' best and a story that is brilliant in idea, and solid in execution here, Revenge of the Sith is the finest the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars franchise has to offer.
The Senate has returned
He has the best evil laugh in movie history. Change my mind.
This man and Ewan carried the entire PT, hats of to them on fantastic performances.
Don't forget Liam Neeson there. He was fantastic in Episode 1.
McDirmand: With four, now five films since I'm now part of the Empire Strikes Back.
Me: Now you're in the Rise of Skywalker, so that makes six films. You're also in the Clone Wars, Rebels, and Angry Birds. That's countless movies, if only six films.
The hell with Darth Vader, this is the best villain ever.
he is easily the best thing about STARWARS....he commands respect and authority in a not so obvious charming sort of way which makes him even more dangerous....he is the only one vader was truly afraid of until return of the jedi, no other actor but him could have portrayed a character far more evil than vader himself
For many Star Wars fans born after the early 1980s, Revenge of the Sith is the undeniable pinnacle of the franchise.
Anything wrong in Star Wars just blame Lucas
Oh Samuel! "He wasnt lookin, I accidentally whacked him!" Mannn that shit was funny
Revenge of the Sith remains one of the most authentically Star Wars movies in the franchise.
Revenge of the Sith was generally praised for its mature tone, action sequences, emotional weight, and stellar performances by Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, with Samuel Leroy Jackson, and Christopher Lee.
6:12 dude it's so terrifying how adorable that little turn was lmao
That “What kept you” was powerrfull
Plot twist: Sidious clouded our minds so we only know him as his “actor”
His acting was superb.
A masterful actor. Not a single fault.
Yet people say the acting in 1-3 sucks, I know right? Absolute bullshit, lol. So many good actors.
Kevin Rouse Indeed. All the actors in the prequels have been good in other things. It's the writing that threw them off.
Oh yeah, Christopher Lee was soooo terrible. Anywho, you're a fucking moron, clearly.
So, what's bad about the writing?
Agreed
It is hard to believe that such a malignant, malevolent, evil, demonic S.O.B. is played by such a sweet and wonderful gentleman. That is what a great actor is able to do.
+Talking Donkey Peter Cushing was the nicest guy ever. Tarkin - not so much : )
+lesyayandfilksongs As is Jack Gleeson - AKA Joffery Baratheon.
Talking Donkey don't forget sadistic
Same for Sir Christopher Lee
I had the privilege of walking past Anthony Hopkins once. He simply made eye contact and said hello to me, a perfect stranger.
Episode III was the best of the prequels and Ian brought so much into the role.
Episode I FTW
White Ice Tv Shrek, fight me
Amen to that!
it is the turning point for Skywalker to darth vadar...
The prequels were sadly terrible but had such an incredible cast
Mace got thrown out the WINDU!!!!!!!
Lol!
lol
The jokes are all on you man
The jokes are all on you man
+King Matthew II haha
I wonder how often people that run into Ian ask him to say “dewit!”
Adam Baker Nike slogan be like “just Dew it”
He actually addresses this a lot in interviews... like A LOT.
He just tells them "I am the Senate".
Worked with him on a play a couple years ago now, he was playing Enoch Powell - we were told not to bring up the memes and it was so fuccking hard lol
Lewis Fraser F
One of the best villains of all time.
Cathalo maybe Darth nihilus?
Eriz Ownuh what are you talking about?
Heiliger Jesus A Sith Lord that was in Knights of the Old Republic II
best senate of all time
@@Tuxwell not yet.
Palpatine was really my favorite of the prequels, especially Episode 3. He played his role to perfection.
+JAN2MARS Palpatine was always my favorite character in Star Wars. Even when I was a kid during the original trilogy I thought he was badass. I remember when all the kids wanted to be Luke or Han or something, I wanted to be Palpatine and the empire. ULTIMATE POWER MOAHAHAHAHA
Per-Ivar Sandbæk AGREED. Cheers, mate.
+JAN2MARS Absolutely. Even in his cheesiest moments, he performed his part perfectly.
+JAN2MARS Palpatine and Obi Wan were worth the price of admission.
+Per-Ivar Sandbæk UNNNNLIMMMIIIITEEEED POOWAAHHHHH

My fav character in the whole saga. When I was a kid, everyone wanted to be Han Solo, Luke or even Vader. But not me. I wanted to throw Force lightning to everyone 😂 Seriously
sidiously
you were wise beyond years my friend, lol. Force lightning is an ability some consider unnatural. But the rest of us consider it UNLIMITED POWER!!!
MrBlaoblao same
MrBlaoblao dude is brilliant af
Who the fuck wants to be han solo
Crazy how such a sweet guy so perfectly plays the most evil man in cinema
Same with christopher lee.
@@elkmeatenjoyer3409 Count Dooku isn’t supposed to be extremely evil, he is slightly conflicted.
@jeuroq lmao
@@jcad137 This is a Star Wars video….
@@alh06 I'd say ambiguous rather than conflicted
I'm always amazed that all this came from George lucas's imagination.
Star wars is like most things is a biblical metaphor...notice george lucas says...palpatine is the "devil" and anakin is the "chosen one". Many science fictions and storys replicate biblical themes.
@@chrisnenshati7400 Most things? A far stretch! And Star Wars is much more: The force is basically buddism, and palpatine's rise is based on the third reich.
Btw: The PT questions the blind following of (clerical) authority.
Uncle Iroh it’s not he for the story from someone elss
This is why I love George, watch all the behind the scenes George is so passionate about making his vision come to life. So involved in all the ideas his studio helps with. He truly loves what he does. It’s beautiful; then everyone shat on his creation that he was passionate about so he sold it to Disney.
