    So glad you went with leaf springs! So much easier and if you use the right springs they really don't ride bad!! And these trucks don't have that damn dropped frame like the 90s trucks.. excellent job!! 😮. That truck sits perfect!! And you really don't need a dana 60 if you don't have a Duramax or doing rock crawling.. or running ivery 37s. I've ran 37s on Dana 44s for yrs. With 4:10s. Axle over you don't need much arch!!

    and if anyone is wondering, you can run the np261 manual shift transfer case, the search, "np261 slip yoke eliminator" it's $400 with the yoke, but then you don't have to find a 241 with the vss. the 261 vss is ready to go.

    Dude,
    Love this thread. I have an '04 Escalade EXT that I picked up right before "the Vid' hit and have fallen in love with the rig. I wanted to make an overland build out of this truck but after 2 weeks of digging, calling a few local shops, and everyouin telling me to get a Wrangler with solid axels i almost gave up. Then I watched a few other threads and came across a overland trail thread that had a Taco SAS - I then searched for this thread. I already have the LQ9, I am going to copy this thread and start posting about my rig. Thanks for the awesome content - look forward to running some day with you out on a trail...

      Hey joed3im getting my parts together and I'm worried about a dana 44 not being strong enuff. I'm lookin to go 4:10's, 35's maybe tad bigger, soft old bronco coils, moderate trail "country Boy" use.

    • @dukeloster923
      @dukeloster923 4 роки тому +2

      Depending on your driving still lockers and tire size the Dana 44 is plenty strong enough for 35’s! The 241 is a simple swap from a 246 NNBS Tcase. Just make sure you match you input spline count for your transmission!!

    Dude that's so sweet and just saying you inspire me more than anyone on UA-cam..... I love everything you love I've got a 93' 2 dr Yukon that ive been restoring for about two years everything on it except the interior is brand new including 355 TBI 4 bolt main and 4L60E got it all done about 6 months ago drove it for a week and was like hey I wanna SAS it so I acquired a 14bff and a D60 out of a superduty and really want to document it cause you dont see too many of those being swapped ibut dont know the first thing about videoing or editing and just bought a LM7 for it ! but enough rambling dude you're my hero and one day I just may get brave enough to try a video. Thanks brother keep on keepn on 🤘

    dude, this setup is perfect. people go crazy with lifts on a SAS, and this thing just looks fantastic. not to mention, the specs on this setup are ideal with the 79 f250 high pinion with 1/2 tubes and 6 lug outers is perfect for keeping unsprung weight down on a 1500 without loosing any drive ability. this is the truck chevy should have built. i'm basing my Silverado solid axle swap on this setup, and i picked up the ford 79 axle yesterday, which is honestly the hardest piece of the puzzle to find. thanks for these videos!

    • @highcountrystories
      @highcountrystories Місяць тому

      Everybody wants the ford high pinion dana. 44 or 60.. but you really don't need the high pinion unless you are rock crawling.. with the spring over axle and the relatively flat springs the drive line angle really is not that bad. Oh that's right my bad.. you need a left hand drop pumpkin.. my bad. Wasn't thinking.. was going to say you can use most any Dana 44 .. but I guess you'd have to swap axles and tubes.. anyway. Nevermind. Lol
      Used to 80s trucks..

      Do a spring-under SAS to keep it low. Don't flip the rear shackles and run a 3" lift spring. There's a dude in here that did a spring under S10 blazer. Low and stable with the strength of a solid front beam.
