This is exactly my experience. Started keto primarily to lose weight. Lost 1st and 2nd weeks and then stalled for TWO whole weeks. I was gutted and nearly threw in the towel :( I added OMAD to keto and now into my 3rd month....it's great! Lost my craving for potatoes and bread. Did my first 48hrs fast beginning of the month with no hunger issues. Not worried about the weight any more. The losses have just become a positive side effect of feeling good :) :) Thank you for your uploads, they kept me on course when I was ready to give in!

It took me nearly 3 months to lose even the FIRST pound, and that was on 100% keto, no cheating. It has been over a year; I’ve only lost 40 lbs (80 to go). I still crave chocolate and expect to deal with those cravings for the rest of my life. Even fasting 2 full days per week hasn’t stepped up the weight loss. Carrots, tomatoes, peas (and other legumes) have all been forbidden foods from the beginning. Dodging the leg cramps has been iffy at best since one can only stand to eat just so much kale, and the sweetened preparations from Dr. Berg all contain sugar alcohols that my body sees as an exceedingly strong laxative. All I can do is maintain the keto and be patient for those other 80 lbs.

You can overcome the addiction with fasting, just have to stay with it longer. When you test your urine for ketones, eventually you see it and at that point your body is converting fat to food. No more hunger. No such thing as craving, appetite will cease. Happened about 22 hrs for me. Just go longer each time you attempt it, if you feel bad and have to stop. Don’t do calorie restrictive diet. And weight yourself every day same time.

I was able to do 48+ hour fasts easily after a couple of weeks, and did a 48hr dry fast no problem. I didn't track macros the first month and only really did it for about a month before stopping. I'm down 57lbs in a little over 3 months. Still another 75-100lbs to go, but keto changed my life and for me it all started after watching a Dr Berg video. Thanks for saving my life doc!

I'm an elder. I began keto around a year ago. It took until a month ago for my diabetic issues from decades of carb addiction to begin to fade... granted, I "give in" to carbos on occassion. However, since my blood sugar has been tamed, my body processes them quickly without any undesirable effects.
I don't think I've become fat adapted yet, but my blood sugar has greatly improved, and my health is changing for the better.
Most note worthy, my once enlarged prostate is now normal. Phew! Dodged that bullet. I've so many peers with prostate issues. I suggest the diet. Since most are vegans, vegetarians who on occasion eat fish or chicken, they look at my diet and think me crazy, with a death wish.
    Sticking with it.....

Phew! This is the info I needed. Last year I tried keto but quit after my ketones were excessively high and I had my first ever gout attack! (About 5 days in)
This time I've been drinking lemon water, which has helped with the gout (I did have some pain but then remembered the lemon water thing). But I'm on day 9 and feel so awful. Been in ketosis (moderate to high) for 6 days and total brain fog, weak, body aches still. I'm post menopausal and have insulin resistance, so ig that's to be expected? I'm taking salt in all my water, eating either omad or 18:6, only carbs are non starchy veg, and taking electrolytes and other recommended supps. But I was despairing because seems like everyone says once you're in ketosis your golden- you should have tons of energy, clarity, etc. No one talks about this window of pain between starting ketosis and being fat adapted. At least that I've found!

May 15th was 3 months on keto and I’m down a total of 23 pounds 😃
What’s mind blowing is on 2 occasions for one day each i went off the diet but I didn’t gain weight. I didn’t loose either but it was almost as if my body was able to handle it. I’m not going to make a habit of that but it def motivated me to continue.
I truly believe that the combo of Keto and IF is key! 75% of the time that’s what I do.

I'm almost a month in now and the results are phenomenal! I have less pain and stiffness with arthritis, I can go longer before getting hungry, vision is clearing up, and I'm dropping weight. My blood glucose levels are normal and I'll have my A1C checked May 5th. I'm still not very active because of a serious foot injury. This keto diet is fantastic. I am currently 58 years old and I started at 368.0 lbs with clothes on April 4, 2023 and this morning I weighed 312.0 lbs without clothes....giving that my clothes and stuff weighs between 4-5 lbs....I have lost 51 lbs in 62 days this evening! I started out eating 2 meals a day with intermittent fasting for almost 3 weeks (April 18th, 2023), then switched to OMAD starting April 19th, 2023 thru May 30th, 2023, and now I'm OMAD every other day for the foreseeable future. My goal was to lose 100 lbs. by October 15th, 2023. I am half way towards that goal in 9 weeks! And I have no cravings for CARBS or any food, this diet is a BLAST, it is SO EASY! This is a guy who used to eat Peanut Butter M&Ms, Marshmallows, Gatorade, and Frozen Dinners at NIGHT around Midnight every night! I was a carb addict! As long as I take my Electolytes, B Yeast Tablets, and other supplements with it, this diet is a breeze! I even went 138 hours with Prolonged Fasting (with the above supplements of course) with no problem! Wasn't hungry at all do it! Let's see what's happens between NOW and October 15th. I am pushing the envelope because I'm just not hungry! My true goal is 185.0 lbs by October 15th, 2024 -or- if I plateau, by my 60th birthday on May 16th, 2025!

Great video doctor berg. I'm also fat adapted but I didn't go on a keto diet to do it. Since I'm obese, I decided to do weekly fasts of 2 to 3 days. These are full 3 day fasts. In the rest of the week I do intermittent fasting, 18:6 but again, not really a keto diet. My carb intake is lower than before but it's nowhere close to being considered keto.
It took me about 5 weeks to become fat adapted. So there's other ways to do it, not just keto diets.
I guess my method wouldn't work for most people, because most people aren't obese.

I know when I became fully 'fat adapted' - the cravings for carbs diminishes greatly. One example is : free carbs are not even attractive anymore. My workplace was giving out FREE loaves of organic bread last week & I didn't take home any. That's fully fat adapted.
A year or two ago, I would've grabbed at least a loaf. Not interested anymore.
Occasionally, I may a slice of toast or some dessert - but it's so seldom these days.
I now crave savory protein & seasoned veggies & berries.
I'm ten lbs lighter than I was a few years ago & more limber.

If you are having gout issues at the very beginning of fat adaptation due to uric acid build up. (Ketones temporarily block the excretion of uric acid via the kidneys.) Take 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of potassium citrate powder in water each day. It will keep it in solution until the kidneys can excrete it. Potassium citrate is very helpful for gout, preventing certain forms of kidney stones. It is alkalizing too. Make sure to use the citrate powder form.
