I don't care how the classic cartoons are released. Just so long as they're released. There still are classic cartoon fans out there. Plus, not everyone in the new generation likes what's being put out.
That's great to hear, even though most Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons in terms of media is still not re-released on media. Some are still on laserdisc.
I have a feeling that they're saving most of the early Tex Avery WB cartoons (like Cinderella Meets Fella) for an eventual Tex Avery Volume 4 - which would include the remaining MGM Avery's and some of his best WB cartoons. Jerry and George are probably just having problems clearing the last un-PC shorts like Uncle Tom's Cabana and Half Pint Pygmy.
Fantastic video! I have this set as well and while I think it could have been a bit better and up to the extremely high quality of the Golden and Platinum Collections if it had Bonus Features and one or two more discs of shorts, overall this is a great set and I’m glad that we’re finally getting more Looney Tunes Blu-ray releases! Some of my favorite shorts on here would have to be The Unruly Hare, Daffy Doodles, and The Foxy Duckling just to name a few. I agree with you that Cinderella Meets Fella should be on a future volume. I’m pretty sure that aside from the two Censored 11 shorts, it’s the only short in The 100 Greatest Looney Tunes Cartoons book not on DVD or Blu-ray restored yet. One short that immediately comes to mind that I’d love to see restored is Mexican Joyride. And I find it odd that Elmer’s Pet Rabbit still isn’t on DVD or Blu-ray. It’s been restored so I’m confident it will most likely show up in a future volume of Collector’s Choice. I’d love to see you review more physical media sets, and not just more recent releases. I know that you have all 30 Walt Disney Treasures sets, and I’d love to see you review those as well as your thoughts on how Disney hasn’t really done anything with the shorts since Bob Iger forced Dick Cook to leave in 2009. Cook was who Leonard Maltin pitched the Walt Disney Treasures series to and why it happened. When he was gone no one cared about doing anything with them and they still don’t, Disney + doesn’t care about them either.
I know it's never going to happen, but I'd like to see them to start releasing them all by decade, maybe 2 or 3 volumes per decade. I'd get them all, but I think the 40s and 50s had the best Looney Tunes.
Cool Video Anthony, I'd love to see more reviews of Classic Cartoon DVD and Blu-Ray sets. Some of my personal picks for Collector's Choice: Volume 2 - Fresh Hare (Bugs & Elmer, 1942) - A-Lad-In His Lamp (Bugs, 1948) - Apes of Wrath (Bugs, 1959) in its CORRECT aspect ratio - Hare-Breadth Hurry (Bugs & Wile E. Coyote, 1963) - Along Came Daffy (Daffy & Sam, 1947) - Muscle Tussle (Daffy, 1953) - Stork Naked (Daffy, 1955) in its CORRECT aspect ratio - Hopalong Casualty (Road Runner, 1960) - I Taw a Putty Tat (Tweety, 1948) - Catty Cornered (Tweety, 1953) - Tweety's Circus (Tweety, 1955) - Hyde and Go Tweet (Tweety, 1960) - Dr. Jerkyl's Hyde (Sylvester, 1954) - A Kiddie's Kitty (Sylvester, 1955) - The Leghorn Blows at Midnight (Foghorn, 1950) - Of Rice and Hen (Foghorn, 1953) - Mouse-Warming (Claude Cat, 1952) - Two's a Crowd (Claude Cat & Frisky Puppy, 1950) - A Hound for Trouble (Charlie Dog, 1950) - Sheep Ahoy (1954) - Double or Mutton (1955) - Punch Truck (1953)
Here's Mine: 1. Apes of Wrath Bugs Bunny (Corrected 4:3) 2. Lighter Than Hare Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam (Corrected 4:3) 3. Dumb Patrol Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Yosemite Sam 4. Brother Brat Porky Pig 5. Slightly Daffy Daffy Duck, Porky Pig 6. Design for Leaving Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd (Corrected 4:3) 7. Stork Naked Daffy Duck (Corrected 4:3) 8. Bone Sweet Bone NONE 9. Tweety’s Circus Sylvester, Tweety 10. Tweet and Sour Sylvester, Tweety 11. Dr. Jerkyl’s Hide Sylvester, Spike & Chester 12. A Hound for Trouble Charlie Dog 13. The Mouse-Merized Cat Babbit and Catstello 14. Snowman’s Land NONE 15. Henhouse Henery Foghorn Leghorn 16. Feather Dusted Foghorn Leghorn, Egghead Jr. 17. Egghead Rides Again Egghead 18. A Bone for A Bone Goofy Gophers 19. Sheep Ahoy Ralph Wolf, Sam Sheepdog 20. Dangerous DanMcFoo NONE 21. Adventures of the Road Runner Coyote, Roadrunner
Coal Black ain’t gonna happen. Fresh Hare though? That’s possible. In Vol. 2, Hand to Mouse (1944) is included and that has an entire sequence with blackface. I don’t see why Fresh Hare couldn’t be included in one of these if Hand to Mouse is allowed.
I loved Fresh Hare growing up when i had it on vhs, would like to see it restored but that ending is not the most PC thing in the world, i totally see why it wouldnt be restored.
I wish Disney would do this for their shorts. I know they did the 2 vol collection for the Disney100 collection and I just got those but they need to release more of them on Blu ray. Would love the Goofy classics on bluray. Yes I know about the Disney treasures tins but those are OOP and I dont feel like selling my car to get them.
Great review. It would be nice to see these in multi disc sets instead of just 1. It's interesting that you mention HBO/MAX. I noticed that when it switched over to just MAX that the number of Looney Tunes was drastically cut. There used to be 20+ chapters, and now it's down to 15.
I know it’s a hype dream, but I would love warner to release all thousand shorts from the golden age. Love physical media! P.S. The background noise is a little distracting from what I’m trying to listen to you say but it’s great content.
Controversial Take: I want to see some of the 90s Turner Computer Colorized shorts on Blu-Ray I also want: Tease for Two, Rabbit Stew and Rabbits Too, Rushing Roulette, Easy Peckins, and some of Tex's Travelogues/Spotgags
Vol 2 now officially announced just now! The questions I ask in the video still apply lol
Including Cross Country Detours.
I actually bought that when it first came out. I hope they keep it up for at least five volumes.
I choose physical media over streaming any day!
Agree 💯 especially for classic cartoons.

Amen brother

And some aren't released on any media at all.

Which is really annoying cause apart from the Look and maybe 1 gag, Half Pint Pygmy is really funny.

We need Sinkin' in the Bathtub, Fresh Hare, and Coal Black

Do you have either of the “Essential” collections with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck?
It'll be awesome if we can get three or four volumes of this I know volume two I think came out earlier this month
I really want to see more of the b&w daffy ducks, and the other speedy shorts
I wish Disney would do this for their shorts. I know they did the 2 vol collection for the Disney100 collection and I just got those but they need to release more of them on Blu ray. Do you know if the shorts included here are different than the ones included in the Platinum collection?
Yes! All new
Along with the Volume 2 that was announced
@@AnthonysAnimationTalk That is good to know. Thank you so much!

@mejokallamthanam1348The generic DVD releases intended for children?
