I paid $299 For a Countyline carb, only for it the not run at all. wound up using the new throttle plates and jets on the old carb and now it runs like a top
I have one of these Ford tractors and the biggest problem I have is those stupid coils that is mounted on the distributor on the front of the engine. They just never last and it is a pain to work on it. It has been sitting 10 years now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Dang dude get it goin! I will say if u need a coil, DB electric makes one i use in all of my tractors and never had a problem. There is a link to it in the video description if you're interested.
@@LeatherHeadGarage Well that is good to know. I was thinking of using part of the coil that is bad and then installing a newer coil on the outside of the tractor. I have replaced the old coil at least 3 times and they just never lasted very long. Last time I had it running it ran fine. My dad bought it off of a military ship that pulled airplanes around and that was back in the 1950's,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Sounds like ur tractors got some cool history! You could be running the wrong Coil if it keeps blowing. If your tractor is still 6v make sure ur running a 6v battery and 6v Coil. Same if u have it converted to 12v there is a 12v Coil. And you should still be running the ballist resistor, I know it was popular for awhile to remove it but u still need it or ull be burning up points and coils
The problem with today's "almost right part's" is you need to limit coil current to 3.5amps. Using ohm's law I= E/R. Current equals voltage divided by resistance. Long story short, your coil should have 3 ohm's of resistance plus the 1 ohm resistor gives u 4 ohm's of resistance. Sooooo, 14.5v from alternator devided by 4 ohm's gives u 3.5amps which is perfect. But if ur aftermarket coil only has 2 ohm's of resistance it's getting way to many amps and will burn up. The fix, add another resistor or replace with better coil with 3ohms of resistance.
@@LeatherHeadGarage Thank you for the information. When I put a new battery in it {6v} and put the new coil in, the coils just keep dying but perhaps I was just using the wrong coil. I just went to a parts store and was buying them there. And everytime I would put a new coil in it would just run fine. But later the coil would eventually fail. I didn't want to switch to 12v because of that type of coil that covers the points and condenser I never seen a 12 volt coil. Plus the starter might not like the 12v's either. I live in Oregon and I would get rid of it if you know anyone who might want it,,,,,,,,,,,,
Recent Shortie “When you leave the diesel jet on too long!” WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE POINT BEING MADE HERE….A GUY JUST TURNING THE WORKSHOP HEATER….I don’t get it?
Lol all good. Go back and watch it and listen to the music. If you notice the music turns to all gibberish. Clueing my interest about what's happening, I realize I've probably left my diesel heater on too long and am getting CO poisoning or the heater is eating up all the oxygen in the air. So I turn it it off and the music returns to normal narrowly avoiding deadly situation but returning right to work lol

Thats wierd! Replacement carbs are so hit and miss on these
