I was still somehow able to fit all the minifigs on the ship
Well that's awesome!
so you can still play with it
yes, but I would recommend adding some extra pieces to make it stronger if you have any
Yeah i would agree, i was only able to put thr figs in because the floor and doors were easily detachable
This is a great mod to the u-wing
some people hate it but in the movie it is my favorite ship in the entire star wars universe and i think they did a good job but when it comes to lego everything seems disproportionate to everything like the engines the body (troop transport) etc but this makes it look a lot better but of course i would only put it on a shelf and leave it there anyways so it should look good while doing it haha
I agree, I really like the U-wing!
Same especially the Lego version I haven't even realised that the u wing under carriage was kinda what's the word fat until you showed me a image of in the video
Yeah the u wing is so cool
The lego version is a playset so its fine
I was confused at first because at different stages you have the doors the other way around, and then in the end again. Still made the modification myself, really nice! Also you could put the 1x2 cheese slopes on the 2 studs sticking out next to the doors.
Nice tutorial, gonna do this with my U-Wing when it arrives
I just finished the modification. The set looks so much better with it. Out of the rest pieces I built a little platform for the minifigures. Thanks for the good instructions! Keep up the great work!
Man, this mod really worked out with my U-wing. Totally subbing😊
I'm glad it worked! :D
I absolutely love this mod. I used the extra 2x1 cheese slopes to close the 1 stud gap on the bottom side windshield. Thanks for the very clear instructions!
First time modyfing a set and now it looks even better! 2 years later and it stills looks great
I just finished my U-Wing build, I'm going to try this next! Thanks!
That's awesome how just a few changes can really change the whole look of the ship! Well done!
Just did this and made the doors a bit more solid with my own pieces, good mod
It's the last days of 2021 but your video is still being watched. My U-wing got so much better. Thank you so much :)
Just got my Lego U wing today and I cannot wait to build it with this mod. It looks so much better this way. Keep making these great videos!!
I loved this! I went and grabbed mine and modified it and it looks great. When are we getting more videos?
You're Welcome! Very soon :)
@@AlternateBricks are you working on something? It's been a year
I love how you were able to make it look less tubby without adding any parts! I've based my own mod on yours, and I'm very impressed.
Got any ideas for the First Order Transport (75103)? I've seen people make it a lot longer to make it look better, but I haven't seen any really good mod designs that don't add a ton of pieces.
Just finished buying another set and dong your changes. Awesome idea. Also, just bought and made the first order walker and Kylo Ren’s original ship with tilt wings. Thanks.
for my u wing i just made the rest of the ship proportionate to the undercarriage. This would have been way easier if i had seen this before i spent 2 hours making the body and wings 16 studs longer and adding 2 more of those white ring pieces to the engines. 😂 nice modification. 👍
Haha damn, at least you've seen it now :D
Yep. At least it looks proportional now. :D
Alternate Bricks you got a new subscriber! This was really cool, and a nice clean background with good lighting!
Thanks! :D
what are you gonna do for 100 subs?
Just modified mine to this, it looks so much better, great video thanks.
I've done it to my U-wing and changed the front part of the cockpit (the part with blue tiles and slopes) and it looks amazing
I maded this to my ship and now it’s perfect and amazing. THANKS A LOT!!!
I did this and I’m so glad this video was in my recommend box keep up the good work
The quality of your video is great and the way you break down the steps makes it really easy to follow
so much more movie accurate. i thing lego thought that it was 2 floors, when actually it was just a lowered floor to allow for more space. great work
I just want to say this build is incredible Now I wish I had the set
Love what your doing keep up the good work
Keep on posting
This is very well done and made me keep the ship, because I was about to sell it. Very good job :)
Impressive, most impressive. I will be modding my U-wing tomorrow. Keep up the awesome work. Really good effort fella.
Thanks for this tutorial, the final shape is more accurate ^^
I never really liked the u wing and I got the last one at Walmart this Christmas and I realized how big the bottom is but after this vid I love the set and it still has all the playability Props to you keep up the good work
Amazing, I'm so happy I did this!
I’ m gonna grab mine and modify it! Thanks!
I have a modified model.3 AT-TE (clone wars version) with modified rear troop compartment, and all fore and aft legs redesigned with knees. But still stable enough to stand in a pose, by itself. I'd like to modify the primary legs to a similar effect soon. makes it great for pictures or mocks. It actually looks pretty nice being able to pose it at an angle like they usually are when on the move.
Thank you so much for this mod. I used it for my y wing instantly and it certainly looks much better 🤗
I did some mods much like yours on this set. Very well done.
I just built it, it looks great
Even though I've already modded my u-wing to minifigure scale, this is a really good build. Subbed and keep up the good work!
awesome! :D Thanks, will have another video uploaded tonight!
This video is very good quality for a first video, good job!
Awesome, I’m getting a u wing because of this!!
This is so much better!! Tried it out and love it!
You're welcome! :)
Laser Labs are so nice. My son and I age. Several and they are great for making mocks. Kinda wish he had some at an angle. But good plug for them. Great company!
Cheers mate, very interesting vid and a mod that I'll certainly apply if I eventually but the U-wing set
Good for a first video 👍 Maybe add some back round music so it's not silent for when your not talking
Thanks for the feedback! :)
Some 'back round' music? xD
Wait... this is your first video on this channel. Your amazing!!
Just did it. Looks great good video man 👍
Awesome video....worked perfectly..thank you
I love the channel idea and the execution of it!
This is awesome love that you made the Lego more display than play you should do this with more sets :)
You're welcome :) I have a whole list of sets to do this to!
This is my second favorite ship in starwars behind the TIE fighter
Great video! I would love a similar instructional video for how to go about doing an all black kylo Ren command shuttle with the ability to move the wings and possibly a modified cockpit area. Cheers and thanks again!
The set is honestly the best and doesn’t need any mods
Happy to be here early. This channel looks like it's gonna grow big time. Can't wait when you hit a million
Thanks! :)
It looks awesome thank you
Just done the modification - managed to add the swinging guns in again and made some tiny adjustments to the swinging doors. I also managed to pick up the U-Wing Microfighter 75160 just to get the correct pilot with print and helmet to match the U-Wing (the pilot that 75155 wasn't accurate, more like a blue squadron X-Wing pilot and helmet).
I feel like no matter how much I re-checked and re-made them... remaking the doors at 4:05 versus placing the doors at 6:56 seemed like the stickered plates orientation was wrong, had to re-do them with the plates the right way around.
Was pleasantly surprised that I could still have normal height minifigs seated in the now condensed area, very cleverly designed!
Other than that little confusion it was a great adjustment to my U-Wing, thank you for putting this guide together :)
Awesome modification man! I know this is late but when I finally purchase a U-Wing I will be sure to do this as it looks a whole lot better. I have subscribed and cannot wait to watch more.
Thanks! I will be uploading many more videos like this soon!
Really a nice upgrade this is my favorite ship from rouge one and I really Kirk how it’s really nothing but a A-wing that has been modified Into a transport for troops or passengers in the two engine model I would like to do a ucs version of this ship that has a bigger troop carrier and is sleek like this you did a great job on this one I don’t know why I have not seen any of your videos I am have been collecting for the last 13 months now and got over 150 sets and all I do it watch videos but I didn’t see until today you channel I am saying thank you very much and I’ll watch everyone you put out from now on
Kudos to you for a video well done!!! The reason for the larger cargo bay was so the Minifigures included could stand and use the pull out mini shooters. Lego does have to modify the build for minifigs usage than the film models sometimes. But now, the minifigs can sit down while in flight. Great job. And May the 4th be with you... always!!!
Great vid. And thanks for the pointer to the LaserLab display stands.
You're welcome!
This is an idea I've been looking for someone to make videos or tutorials about for a while, doing an alternate build to make the set look more accurate or functional! Thank you for making this be a thing!
I would like to suggest, if you can, a modification of set 75153 AT-ST walker, to make it so that the legs can actually 'walk'. As it is, they only have one joint on each leg, and it's kind of silly.
I'd also like to suggest the idea of maybe including extra modifications you can do by adding extra bricks. Maybe have it as a bonus at the end, or start off with "for this mod, you'll need these specific parts to add to the set, or something that does the same job". Of course I understand wanting to only use the bricks included in the set, that makes perfect sense.
You're welcome! :) I plan on doing some modifications to that set soon. I might do another separate video using some extra parts for the U-wing
You are a true hero
Wow this is 3 years old i bought a u wing lego off Amazon and ye I’m prob not gonna get a heart but ima still modify my u wing so thanks
this Really helped alot thx!
Wow! Thanks! The videos are great, keep up the good work!
100% spot on LOOKs GREAT!!! Thank you
Thanks! You're welcome! :)
Nice! I've modified mine. BUT there was an error with the doors in this vid. You've switched the panels at some point. I've adjusted the ceiling and the bottom of the undercarriage and made the doors sturdier. Thank you for this!
I did this mod and it’s great
Thanks for making this vid now my u wing is cool af
Gunna try this with mine later looks good I altered my star destroyer can't remember the set number but it came with the escape pod and red royal guards
Sounds fun!
LOVE this idea! Would like to see other alternative builds to existing sets. Great work :)
I have another video very similar to this that I will be uploading very soon! :D
this mod is perfect tried it out and its better now
Awesome! Glad I could help :D
Nice job man god work on the lego ship
wow! i actually love this channel! keep it up! SUBSCRIBED!!
I might do this!
Fantastic video!
This is great
Fantastic fix. I've built it last week, and it's clearly better than the original. I've modified it a bit so it's sturdier for playing (no extra part either) but I can only fit 3 minifigs on the cargo bay (Jyn is to tall with the helmet) and a weapon rack... just for fun. Thank you so much, it's on my shelf now :)
How did you make it sturdier?
I immediately did this to mine as soon as I built it today
Awesome as! :D
awesome video! Thank god I'm not the only one who noticed the bottom briny too large. I have a recommendation, can you make the Jedi Star fighters and Wings (A-Wing, Y-Wing, X-wing ) do that the astromech droid is facing it's body forwards instead of sideways? something that bugs me, and it looks like something you would be good at doing.
Thankyou! hmm I'll have a look into it and see if i can come up with any solutions
A wing doesnt have a astromech
Great video man
Awesome Luke, thanks for the help 👍
You're welcome! :)
I got this set today 😄
great modification it makes the u wing more sleeker but I would like it better if you included the blasteres on the ship.
Really good design. :) I strengthened it by adding shorter technic pieces.
Awesome! I'm glad you were able to make it stronger :)
Very cool mod! I usually don't have any complaints with how Lego designs their sets, but this one was just too fat on the bottom. Glad I found your video! I am a little concerned that the bottom part will be weaker and more susceptible to falling apart, but we'll see. Subbed!
hey! love the build, I'm following the video at the moment, but I notice an error in the part where you rebuild the doors, the sticker plated pieces are put on the opposite way and when you come to putting them on the ship they're the correct way. A minor thing but maybe an annotation would help future builders :) keep up the great work!
Ahh woops, thanks for letting me know :)
great modification I might do this to my u-wing if I get the ambition to but could you try modding the newest clone turbo tank
Keep it up man👍🏻✌🏻
I swear you instructed the doors the wrong way around, because I matched them perfectly but then at the end assembly mine they were wrong but you had them corrected. Anyway, I finally did it. Cool mod, well done.
I'm sorry if I did, glad you were able to figure it out. Thanks :)
dear god....... that's totally amazing :)
Awesome! Keep it up!
I'm so gonna do this when I get a U-Wing
I found that I could place a 3-holed technic beam where the 7-holed one at the front was. It made it so much sturdier than it was. BTW, Love the mod!
That's awesome! you can use extra pieces to make it much better!
which one are you talking about?
Love your channel
this is a great channel idea!
I have been waiting for a channel like this :) finally a way to change builds around nice and easily, very good idea for youtube and fills in a blank space, SUBSCRIBED 🐋🐋🐋 :)
You're welcome :) will be making plenty more videos like this!
Hey, man, just subscribed. I love these types of videos. Step-by-step tutorials that improve on LEGO's design are priceless, and I've been looking for tutorials on how to make transports, specifically, more screen accurate.
I would love to see you make a video on how to improve minifigs capacity on these kinds of sets, since they really suck as-is. I have the First Order Transport and it's capacity is weak. A modification video for that set would be awesome.
Keep doing what you're doing!
Your're welcome! :) I am working on more videos like this currently and will be doing a video on the First Order Transport soon, Thanks for the comment :D
Really cool
Superb, instant subscribe :p
If I somehow get this amazing set, I will definitely use this awesome modification! Looks more like in movie, and you can still put minifigures into it! +1 new subscriber
I never actually do anything more than just watch UA-cam videos (so this is my first interaction) but just wanted (needed) to say, good job on the video and a very good idea. If it's this detailed now I can only see the production, script, format ect will only improve over time. Haven't seen anything like this before via the lego channels so it's nice to see something original and people can join in as well. Hope you make some money from this for your time and effort into making these videos! Keep it up m8!
Thankyou, that means a lot to me :) Hopefully I'll be able to do this full-time soon so I can make more videos. I have heaps of videos planned!
Cool video I dunno if it’s worth the work to dismantle and rebuild it for but very cool! definitely looks a bit better than the official LEGO one
Thank you so much
