Honestly this is a great revamp. I already liked the original unlike everyone else who just seem overly pessimistic. You’ve definitely inspired me to try some of the change some aspects of the set, most importantly the gaps at the wings and the nose. Those really are my biggest issues with it.
Yeah, no. There were a lot of issues with last year’s UCS X-wing. Some of which you already described.
I bought the UCS X-Wing day one of its release and I’m still extremely satisfied with it today, however I think your efforts in redesigning it to be more screen accurate are incredible to see. I’d definitely purchase your version if it were up for sale by Lego
When this set was announced I was so excited… then I saw it. Sufficed to say, I didn’t make the purchase. If this is what the final product was, I can rather confidently say that it would be sitting on my shelf right now. Fantastic work!!!
This is how the UCS set should have looked like. I really wanted to like this set but it was very disappointing. You've done an amazing job.
Thanks 🙏🏻 I also wanted to like the set when I bought it but it was so far from what it was supposed to represent.
@giamax74. Do you have the digital manual & Lego parts needed for the modifications?
@@eelmarksg instructions are being designed as we speak. Stay tuned for their release!
Any progress on the instructions?
@@giamax74 Where do you intend to sell your instructions? Rebrickable? Brickvault? Brick-collective? Wherever you do, I definitely will purchase them. Your design is a work of art.
This thing looks so much better compared to the UCS one! Great job pushing yourself to create this masterpiece!
So grateful for your kind words mate! 🥲 super horoured to hear that.
This is without a doubt the most impressive modification ive seen for the UCS XWing. As soon as your instructions are available I'll buy them!
Huge thanks mate, that would be an honor for me ❤️
Yes, I’d like to purchase your instructions as well.
Me aswell :)
Will you be releasing the instructions? You've done excellent work.
Amazing detail. This is a fantastic mod. You should release full instructions. I'd pay for it.
Instructions are on the way 🫡 thank you mate!
can't wait! gonna mod mine instantly@@giamax74
WOW! Looking forward to the instructions.@@giamax74
Just got mine! Can’t wait for the instructions:)
I think this is very cool. Excellent job. The only critique I have is of the video commentary about the official sets. The official Lego designs have to be workable by all sorts of people, such as those who have never put together a Lego set before. It also has certain standards of durability to meet (which the official set even had an issue with in its stand). MOCs can be a lot more flexible with techniques and piece usage. That being said, you should be extremely proud of what you made. It looks fantastic.
Outstanding can’t wait for the instructions to drop, will definitely have to get this set now.
That is so cool man, as a kid I always wanted that original UCS X-Wing but couldn't afford it, and your video recaptured that wonder I had back then. Really nice work man!
Pretty insane how much better your version looks tbh nicely done
Fantastic work, can’t wait for instructions.
IMO they should have made the x wing double the size and have the wings in a fixed attack position, making them adjustable is too much of a compromise.
Details are no issue if there are more pieces. If this was the scale of the falcon and it didn’t have moving wings, I’m sure it would look perfect
Amazing changes! Have the instructions been released yet? Would love to make these changes to mine!
Yesssss. I’m a new fan of your work and will be looking forward to modifying my xwing. I’ll ditch the original canopy too. Hopefully someone will make a nice replacement
This is beyond awesome! Massive respect to you
Thanks mate 🙏🏻
I was never thrilled by the cockpit design of these ucs xwings. They were never movie accurate. It's really cool you did this. I think it looks much better.
Really nice modifications!
Just bought this set and this is genius! Cant wait for instructions!
Looks incredible
Wow! It blows the official set out of the water. I’ll be first in like to purchase the instructions when you release them!
Thanks! I promise you won't regret the purchase neither the final result 🥹
I wanted to add my praise to this vid/mod, your changes are exceptional and has made me want to purchase this set and replicate your work. I especially like the stand you created, it invokes the trench run from a New Hope scene so effectively.
The video quality and editing was also top notch, I would be really interested seeing you do more of these!
I'm so grateful for your words mate ❤️
Just goiing back through the comparisons vid shows this is seriously modded as a final, "in-flight", USC X Wing.
The detail and outcomes are stunning kickass!
Damn very nice dude, Lego has always been just under that bar of excellence I would’ve liked for the x wing ucs
Well done, it's a masterpiece!
🙏🏻 thanks mate!
When i first heard of the newest UCS version of this iconic craft i really wanted it for my collection. I managed to get the previous one years earlier on the 2nd hand market and loved it. When i eventually saw detailed pictures of the set tho I was less than impressed due to the lack of screen accuracy and poor design choices leading to rather large and unsightly gaps. Suffice to say ill be sticking with the older one that i already have.
Youve done an amazing job to make yours far more accurate than the professionals at Lego were able to do. If yours was the official set id buy it in a second.
I bought the UCS X-Wing same day Tie Interceptor released and yeah I liked the set as a set, I like yours as a revamp/moc but I appreciate the set for what it is, Lego has building code standards that they have to adhere to as far as structural integrity goes, your nose cone solution for example would not fly... I'll just say, I like both.
Incredible design, imagine how good it would look with an accurate canopy piece
Amazing work. I thought about buying the original Lego set but now I'd rather wait until this version becomes available. In the past I have used round magnets that can fit inside the holes in technic bricks to keep wings together. Maybe you can try that too. Thanks for posting this video!
Thank you David, your idea of implementing magnets is ingenious indeed 👌🏻 anyway my model is built around the original set, I think I used the majority of the pieces to get what you saw in the video so if you want to build this I suggest that you buy the original set plus you'll get the printed plaque and the exclusive Luke 🫡
Very, very good job!👋👋👋
That is so good. I wonder how many of the additional pieces you used could be parted out of the 2013 X-wing.
Really great Job! Looking forward to your instructions! Where do You plan to publish it?
I for one thought the set was really bad, your proportions and details are spot on though. one thing I personally can't get over is the canopy that would suck you right into space :D (not only in your model) however it's a nitpick and it can't be done in any other way, as LEGO's piece (for the small x-wing as well) is incorrect shape as you mention in the video. overall much more UCS than the set!
I suppose they design these things to be "Lego versions" of the real thing, not aiming for extreme accuracy but a sort of compromise between "accuracy" and "charm" without being too complex or frustrating for general consumers, and there must be a cost component (even though sets seem overpriced). I suppose part of the value is in producing something that consumers can adapt or modify. However, it's disappointing they can't/won't go to the effort of new more accurate pieces like the canopy or nose cone.
I would've bought it if it was your build in the box, looks amazing.
Hi @Slamdoxicalz, you're in luck! Instructions for this set are currently being designed. You'll be able to build your own once they are available.
So, how many parts did your model have. Yours is so much better i 100% agree.
I believe that the designers have a budget set that they have to hit, so make the best that they can given the price point they have to hit.
I’m just thinking how much more this modded version would cost.
Sure the final product is not accurate enough and has gaps but they definitely have to work with constraints unlike the consumer who already has the product which they themselves can improve on.
When they announced the new UCS X-wing I was so excited. When it came out I was so disappointed lol I don't use the word "Abysmal" lightly, yet it's the only word I can think of to describe their efforts - a word used VERY lightly here - over the years. It seems, to me, as if every production of the X-wing as well as a few other iconic craft from Star Wars is just a series of checked boxes, with little to know appreciation for accuracy. I realize and accept there are restraints and issues that probably never even get mentioned in the MOC community, but it's gotten to the point where I'd rather spend an extra $100 on a design like yours than to spend any money at all on LEGO's. Your design and improvements dont solve all my issues with the official set, but eliminate so many of them that I could easily look over the rest.
Fantastic design, phenomenal work. Some of the techniques aren't legal, but the precision and attention to detail - the sheer love for the actual design - is inspiring. When I move into my new space I'm definitely using your design as reference for how to approach redesigning LEGO's set for my own take on the X-Wing. You did so much work to rescue their design that I think it's more MOC than official set at this point, so I'll fully credit you if ever I get around to it lol
I would love to buy THIS as a set. So much better, much more worthy of the UCS moniker. Love the wings. I would've used tan or light grey tiles for the nose though. And maybe I did prefer the printed cockpit for sleekness, but you did show great creativity there to create the correct lines.
Thanks mate ❤️ the colour of the nose was a hard decision but the x-wings has originally a white nose so I went for this decision. By the way I'm planning on releasing instructions for this model by the end of spring so keep an eye on those! 😉
I'm just waiting for you to publish your instructions. Then I'll buy the X-Wing and convert it straight away. Looks amazing 🥹
HI is the modifications' available ? Excellent rebuild
we have the instructions and pieces need to do this as well?? THIS IS AMAZING!
There's a new video on my channel about incoming instructions and model's updates as well! 😎
+1 for buying the instructions, good work. I was looking at the Jerac instructions but very tempted with yours. Do you have an ETA?
Outstanding MOD! This was the way it should have originally looked. I have the 2012 UCS X-wing, and I liked it better than the newer version. If I had the room, I’d definitely get this set and apply your mods. Have you made directions to sell for these mods? I know I’d gladly buy them! It’s too bad Lego doesn’t make a windscreen to match your brick-built one.
Thank you! I didn't plan any instructions for this unfortunately, all I can say is that several additional pieces were involved to mod this set 😅
finally decided to get a lego star wars x wing, went with the $50 one but if lego had come out with an x wing like the one you made I would pay $240 for it
This is a really decent mod all of your effort has paid off and are you gonna make mod to other UCS set? And also How long did it take you to do this?
This is literally the most accurate LEGO model I ever seen.
@@Icy-zk9rh thank you mate. It took me 4 months to reach the final result 🥵 Also you will find a modded UCS Razor Crest video on my channel 😎
Huge Respect Mate!
Please supply modification details and parts required. AFOL community would be eternally grateful.
Any update on the instruction? or a parts list?
Amazing!! How many extra parts did you need beside the original?
Thank you! I bought Buzz Lightyear XL-15 Starship set plus other white pieces that I already had!
This is awesome. Do you plan on making instructions? I would definitely buy them.
Thanks buddy 😉. At the moment no, I have zero experience with making digital instructions, sorry to disappoint you. But in the video the model is shown in every aspect so maybe you can figure it out 😃
Amazing work. Did the instructions get posted? I just got this and want to follow your mods. Thanks!
Thank you! Not yet, but I'm close to publishing them 👌🏻
@@giamax74 Grazie signore!
@@giamax74 I will be checking back for the instructions as well. I would not have bought the original set had I not seen what is possible with your modifications. Your work is amazing!
Great work. Those wings are insane! The Lego UCS never looked like an X-Wing to me but couldn't really tell which part since most of it looked wrong. Why even bother making a custom windshield and then fuck it up so badly...
This looks absolutely amazing! Did your modifications require any additional pieces, not included with the original set? If so, could you possibly provide a list of those pieces? I'd love to give your design a try!
I'm very pleased to hear that my work is appreciated 🙂 thank you! Speaking about your concerns regarding additional pieces...yes. I'm italian, I'm not very into ordering from bricklink so I made a research of the cheapest sets that included the pieces I needed (mostly white pieces) and I ended up picking the buzz lightyear XL-15 spaceship cause I needed the mirrored 1x6 wedge white pieces for the sides of the canopy and that set also has a lot of other white pieces that I used for the x-wing. Apart from that I also got the Obi-Wan starfighter from 2022 which has other useful white pieces. I know, this method is expensieve 😅 but at least I added pieces to my personal inventory. I also needed 20 white jumper plates (5 for each wing) for the little extremity that emerges from the tip of each wing and I took those from a Lego store. This is the best that I can do to answer to your questions ☺️ if you want to know more don't hesitate to ask!
@@giamax74 Thank you so much for the information on additional pieces! I also wanted to mention that I'd love to collaborate with you to create instructions for your set! I'm an engineering student in Canada and I have alot of experience with 3D design software. Your set features some really clever design techniques that i believe should be shared so it can get the recognition it deserves! Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in, and we can get in touch!
@@nicolas.vargas wow this is something I actually never thought about, but sounds awesome! Have you ever made lego instructions before?
@@giamax74 please see the new comment I've made, answering this question
I can't wait to purchase your instructions, you could make alot of money perfecting current ucs sets. Will do be modifying the new ucs tie interceptor?
The Tie Interceptor isn't on my whislist to be honest, I'm not a big fan of imperial ships. But I modified a lot my UCS Razor Crest, you should check it out! I made a video about it with 10 mods I made to it and now that big boy is an even better ship than it already was 😎
@Giamax74 Great work! Will you bring an instruction and part list?
Yes, instructions are currently in their final stages of development 👌🏻
Pls let us now when u have the instructions ready, thx
You removed/solved all the reasons I had to not buy this. A truly impressive reimagining to make this kit what it should have been from Lego! Bravo!
Hi Giamax74, I like you video and I'm wondering to know when will available the instructions ?
Beautiful, great detail, only dont like the nose that much but otherwise its awesome
Thank you buddy but trust me when I say that I tried everything to make the nose look as best looking as I could 😂
Great thought out solutions and savvy techniques.
Very much looking forward to displaying your mods. Cheers
Hi @giamax74, I will answer your question about building LEGO instructions here, given that I've run into technical difficulties trying to reply to your previous message. Yes, I have experience with Studio (a LEGO designing software). With this your set can be rendered and instructions cand be produced from that.
Unfortunately I've tried sending this message a few times now but UA-cam is deleting them, at least on my end. Apologies for the potential spam, if this message get's through to you, I'll wait for your reply and we can figure out a way to get in touch. I wish you all the best.
That's great! How does a set get rendered?
@@giamax74 the set would have to be reconstructed digitally

@@giamax74, I sent you a message. Let me know if it got to you okay. Cheers
@@nicolas.vargas got it 👍🏻
When is the instructions out, this model looks fantastic and i really watts to modify mine to this
Currently working on them, probably in January ✌🏻
@@giamax74exciting😀
how do you think it would look in light bluish gray?
I would call it...inappropriate 😅
Truly astonishing model with tons of details that would drive price up a lot if this was official set. Though its bit a saggy on the back of the engine and the wings. Some of the build techniques are illegal.
Thank you 😄 Yes, you paid real attention to that faulty and saggy back, after this video I fixed the issue because it was bugging me a lot so I moved the back pillar even further towards the back right in the centered spot underneath the wings and now the model is perfectly parallel to the ground from tip to tip. I'm making building instructions with the updates I made post video.
Do you have the moc for the wings?
What do you mean exactly? Instructions? Unfortunately no, but the wing is recorded in the video from lots of angle so it's possible to see how it came together 😉
Amazing job on the fuselage!
I also find the lego model disappointing
Hello, really cool modifications. Could I also have the instructions?
Thank you! Instructions are on the final stage of production 👀
@@giamax74 That's great to hear!!
Honest to god the only thing I don't like is the canopy change. Everything else is a stellar upgrade over the original.
Appreciate your honest thought! As a matter of fact the canopy piece included in the set didn't give justice to the overall look of the model so I took reference from the source material and to me it's pretty faithful in the shape and aestetics. I mean it's not perfect but at this scale it's the best that I could came up with. Thanks mate 🙏🏻
@@giamax74 Oh don’t get me wrong it’s definitely faithful, just a bit too bulky for my liking. That’s all.
Any news about the instructions ?
A friend is taking care of those, it's a long process and requires a lot of work but we're planning to release them as soon as possible ✌🏻
This looks amazing! Too bad LEGO skimped on the canopy, so all the proportions looked wrong because of it. In any case, good job man!
are you still doing the digital instructions?
Yes. Check out my new update video on the channel 👀
Ucs republic gunship next?
I don't have that one! But I did get a new look to the UCS Razor Crest, video in my channel if you want to take a look 👀
Isn’t the nose cone supposed to be grey? Why did you choose white for that part?
The X-Wing Starfighter is an all white-coloured ship, in the movies the nose is darker due to weathering and friction whilst flying at high speed over the years. I decided to keep it white to use most of the pieces shared with the original set 😉 making it in light blueish gray makes too much of a contrast to me. It should be done in a colour between tan and white, if it would exist.
@@giamax74 interesting. I re-watched the attack on the first Death Star and in some shots, the nose looks whitish, in others greyish and in even others, even pinkish. I guess it just comes down to the lighting of the shot. I was just so used to seeing LBG arcs on the front of the nose from sets and art I assumed that’s how it was. Turns out colors of Star Wars are not as straight forward as I thought
I am just curious. How many extra pieces are required for this modification?
Quite a lot. Part of the instructions main objective is to include a dedicated parts list for extra pieces 👌🏻
@@giamax74 Makes sense. I am now terrfied of the total cost haha
@@kacpernowacki4654 not that much honestly, I think the total amount of extra pieces is around +200
@@giamax74 Okay okay I am looking forward to the instruction!
It looks way better. For those wondering why Lego designers cant do this: Not all connections are considered legal (parts stressed, not well connected, etc) and not all panels seems very strong. However, the original model isnt strong itself, so who cares. Love to see how the big caps are covered now. Those in the original model make my eyes bleed.
Yes, unfortunately Lego has a lot of safety and quality standards to follow and I know that. The original set as you said isn't very strong, my model is basically on the same level of sturdiness but even if some connection aren't legal I prefer having a faithful representation of an iconic model like this.
will you release the instruction to change the model ? It look indeed WAY better, lego should use better builder, because their set are kinda meh.
I only really dont like the stand blend with the model, other than that, really nice !
Instructions are on the making, people obviously don't know the insane amount of work behind those 😅 don't miss them when they'll be out!
It's awsome but man.. i just want a printed cockpit piece in the right shape😭
Lego should have made a new canopy piece for this set 😕
This is what Lego should do.
Hire you.
Recall the 75355 model and replace it with the modifications you made.
Your words are too kind mate! Thanks 🙏🏻
i genuinely cant understand how a LEGO x-wing built can even aspire to be "accurate".
Mmm what's that supposed to mean? 😅
give us instructions mate!!!
They're coming! 🫡 🤣
Honestly, seeing all the great ways people modify and make so many lego sets better, esoecially these UCS ones, just proves to me that lego is just getting cheap and lazy
Let's not be rash here and ignore the facts that official Lego sets have to go through hundreds of budgetary, safety, etc. restrictions that moc builders can completely bypass
Fantastic mocs are amazing and abundant, but it's so close-minded to look at a beautiful moc and turn that around to shit on the Lego designers who worked their asses off for months, possibly years, to put out the best product they could under the restrictions imposed by simply being a part of a large corporation
This moc is a gorgeous collectors item, but would likely fail so many of the official Lego regulations (the ones that make them the company we love for being consistent and high quality) that it would never be able to be an official set like this
@@j0hn00you’re right. I think people are a bit too nit picky and don’t realise that there’s reasons why they don’t do the same things as AFOLs
I was excited about the set until I built it.. so flawed
Sorry but I prefer the lego one by a fair bit, your cockpit looks wacky and you took off a lot of cool colors that made the set look good.
Your's may be more accurate but it looks wacky and blanck.
That's stupid. Make it only for yourself (without showing...) Or build your ONE from "your ideas". From start to finish, Hoschi!
They basically put it out as a money grabber. They didn’t care about the design anymore. I like your design a lot better
