Centrifugal Feeder Bowl for Single-Serve Coffee Pods

Centrifugal feeders are designed to optimize the handling of various products at high rates of speed. One of our areas of expertise and commonly served applications is the processing of single-serve coffee pods.
In this video, our centrifugal feeder bowl is fed by a stainless-steel elevating hopper. The pods enter the feeder where they are singulated and oriented at a rate of 460 parts per minute (PPM). The C-Track discharge positions the coffee pods, foil side up, preparing them for the next stage of production.
The result? Increased production speeds, reduced product loss, and an efficient and streamlined operation.

What was the trickiest part of the design?

Great question! To achieve 500 parts per minute (ppm) in such a small footprint, the feeder needs to be incredibly efficient. The prefeeder needs to be consistent, delivering the right amount of product to the feeder, preventing jams and maximizing output. Additionally, we're continuously looking for opportunities for improvement. One enhancement we've made over the last few years is in the hand-off between the prefeeder and centrifugal feeder. We've reduced the size of the feeder to save space and maximize manufacturing efficiency.
