    Gina K has often mentioned that she has problems with her wrist and it was difficult to push down hard on her stamp positioner. A friend of hers named Chuck make the original Chucky tool and sent it to her to take the pressure off het wrist and hand. Gina’s subscribers asked that Chuck make more to sell. He wasn’t interested in making and selling them so he provided directions for making one like the original. Not surprisingly, a lot of Etsy shop owners started making and selling them. Gina dubbed it the ‘Chucky tool’ after her friend, the inventor.

    I must be living under a rock! I had never heard of a Chucky tool before this video. I love your take on the DIY and I'll be making one for myself.
    "I don't have a Misti nor do I want one - for personal reasons." It may or not be for the same reasons, but I feel the same way.

      there is an almost cult-like following for the MISTI, and it would be easy for some to get offended that I don't want one :)

    YAY! This is a cool one! I believe the first person that I saw use the Chucky tool was Gina K. and one her subscribers sent it to her. After that it became all the rage. Her's is wooden. I can't wait to make mine with what I can find ideal around my house. Lisa from King rubber stamps made a light up one with a candle lid, it's cool too. Thank you so much for bringing your very well made version to us with a great tutorial!

    It's a bit off-topic but I've found that the candle jar lids are really good for stamping, as I struggle with arthritis in my hands and wrists, and can't always manage even pressure with the acrylic blocks.
    My first view of the Chucky tool was on Justine's site, but her's had a different name. Again, with my hands not having a lot of strength, I've been trying to find something similar, so thank you for the tutorial.
    I have the same stamping platform as you, I like it a lot, and it was half the price of the Misti.

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  3 роки тому +1

      Stamping tool -- EXACTLY! The first time I ever heard of a MISTI, I saw the price and choked. That was back before there were any add-ons, accessories, etc. I thought $70 for that piece of plastic was ridiculous, and I thought I would wait for her to lower the price, which she didn't. Tim's was better and less expensive. Sorry about your hands!

    Quick question....can I apply the felt on the opposite side( wider side) and just use a clear topper to the smaller side to see the shaker. I'm thinker you'll have a wider coverage and a better grip.

      Yes! I keep the jars because they're so nice in their own right, and if I wanted to buy one, it would cost much the same. I buy my coffee at B&M, or Home Bargains, as it's a couple of pounds cheaper than Asda or other supermarkets. I use some of the jars for pasta and rice, or storing other things, and I also use them with pillar candles. The glass itself is no different, as far as I can tell, from the official candle jars, and none have ever cracked. 🌻

  • @carollou7653
    @carollou7653 3 роки тому

    When you started making this, I thought you would have used the flat side of the glass for the sliding part, as that would have given smooth, even pressure to the entire surface as opposed to only the circle ring edges of the other side. If this works, I guess that's ok. Personally, I find that positioning the stamp on the platform door near the center or an edge gives a better impression as it allows the door to flex more readily than at an edge which doesn't have the same amount of "give". Your end product is very cute, though.

      Ah. Well, the reason is that it's no longer available in the US and is out of stock in the UK. It's the Tim Holtz stamping platform. He was sued by the maker of the MISTI and forced to remove his platform off the US market. Well, anyone who has remaining stock is allowed to sell them off, but Tim cannot manufacture more for the US. I found them on Amazon, though! amzn.to/3wqLtB9

    Hi Lolly! The original Chucky tool originated from “Gina K’s” friend, Chuck. I’m sorry I do not remember his last name but he made her one for her to use and it has taken off like a rocket with different designs being made to do what it is intended to do. There are so so many. His is made with a wooden curtain finial, I believe along with the felt slider that is already sized for the finial. I made one for myself like his which fits me better because I had surgery on my hand and it is sized perfect for me... It’s higher than the candle type. You can check with Gina for his name for more details. He really should market his. Hope this helps. (It is on a video of hers that I saw live over the last 3 months when she told this but I couldn’t find it when I searched back, sorry!)
