- I've Read 30 Visual Novels. Let's Review ALL Of Them - Those of you who enjoy my videos will know that I'm a pretty big fan of visual novels. I love reading them and talking about them. But what you may not know is that compared to most VN fans, I'm still kind of a newbie. My first visual novel was Katawa Shoujo back in 2016 and it wasn't for another few years that I really got into them. And furthermore, I have not yet gotten around to reading many of the classics and people tend to assume I've read titles that I've just not yet touched. So out of curiosity, I decided to check out how many I have read and realized that I just so happened to land on a nice even 30.

You need to read White Album 2.
read all of when they cry higurashi umineko ciconia dont just read umineko
@@linuxgameplayxp6246 Just curious since you are mentioning it: how do you even get a digital copy of white album 2? I've heard it's an untranslated game and yet I've also seen screenshots of the game with english text.
@@yukari7350 alternative solution: don't read WTC at all because it's long and boring
Dunno if you've been recommended this one before, but I would highly recommend Kindred Spirits on the Roof. It's my favorite 18+ VN from its writing alone, and the sheer amount of content it has packed into it makes it more than worth the price. I don't cry when playing video games often, but this one made me bawl. Seriously, give it a shot, it is SO GOOD.
Dude you should check out Slay the Princess. It's an ongoing western vn and rn it's in a demo phase with chapters being released a few months at a time. Jammed the whole demo and it's pretty great. If you ever got like 1-2 hours to spare it's a fun run
In regards to CLOCKUP, something interesting a member of the team had said (paraphrasing) "there are certain themes that can only be truly explored through extreme violence." Thanks for your making videos, gives me that motivation to read more.
Also one of the most memorable moments from your reviews (might be misremembering) was a screenshot from perhaps drakoi where the protagonist's loli mom was like "you stole my son's virginity? THAT WAS MINE"
I love this format of mini-reviews. By in large I agree with most of your takes, really enjoyed the vid
i would LOVE to see you talk about soundless - a modern salem in remote area - someday!! it's my absolute favourite vn and its rather unpopular. it's absolutely amazing and heart wrenching in the best way possible. the epilogue also made me cry my eyes out.
I've only been into visual novels for 6 months and so far I've completed 15. somehow I haven't played a single title this guy has.
Thanks for all the recommendations dude! Maybe next time put in some gameplay scenes and songs related to the vn you are talking about. Still great vid, though.
Kana imouto is just so good but so sad.
Great video as always
DEAR GOD i see saya no uta in the thumbnail
oh no
I dare you to find a more adorable eldritch abomination than Saya
Excellent reccomendations! Need to get to totono and KS stat...
Can't go wrong with those two. Both are great for completely different reasons

I gotta asume then the Hentai OVA doesn't do justice to the VN Eroge, right?
Lance funny enough its one of those OVAS where I learned that it was based on an Eroge, and one so beloved as well
( and the animation on the ones available its just amazing, great H-Scenes as well
I haven't seen it, but I've heard the hentai adaptation is terrible
So many interesting titles
For clerification: when you say "nakige" do you mean "nukige"? These are two different things. "Nakige" os a vn with heavy emotional impact on a reader, usually making the reader cry. Examples are Key's vns, like Clannad, Little Busters, Angel Beats, Planetarean; another example is Fruit of Grisaia. Sachi's and Amane's routes from FoG especially hit your heart like a truck, making you burst into tears. Well, most people do. You seem to have not read any. I highly suggest any of aforementioned to experience that rollercoaster of emotions
While "Nukige" is what you meant, probably: p* rn games, basically
I was saying "nukige." Maybe you misheard. You can check the closed captions if you want to confirm.
And while I haven't read very many nakige, I would say that Kana ~Imouto~ is definitely one. After all, it's about a guy taking care of his dying sister
@@Adze 0:46 You're pronouncing it wrong, then. You have to say "u" in that word (well, like in any Japanese word that has "u") like in the English word "put", and NOT like in the English word "cut"
I haven't read Kana Imouto, but it does seem to have the "Nakige" tag on vndb. I'm not sure if I want to check an incest title...
Ah, ok. I've never actually heard the word spoken out, only written. I'll keep that in mind for next time.
Reminds me of the first time I said "tsundere" in a video. I actually had to look up how it was pronounced because I just had no idea (and found out that a lot of the pronunciation guides out there literally just make stuff up)
Thank you for not including gameplay VNs that are not VNs
If you like harem kingdom than consider the other SMEE visual novels like Fureraba, making lovers and sugar style, they have really similar stupid kind of humor
Similarly if you liked Sankaku Renai humor I would consider the other Asa project VNs like Koikari Love for Hire and Renai X Royale loves a battle
Personally, I feel like games and VNs are a bit of a spectrum where VNs can have some gameplay (DDLC has that poetry minigame) and games can have VN-esque writing, but it gets a little ridiculous when people call things like Rance and Ace Attorney VNs

YES, thank you. Finally, some sanity in the visual novel community.
Alright alright clearly you're winding up for the next video where you review 30 nukiges
Honestly, I would do something like that, but when I read a nukige, I tend to forget about it before long unless it's really good lol
10:50 Naw u don't actually support incest right
Not in real life, but anything goes in fiction
Kana is an extremely well written novel. Give it a try. I was also put off by the subject at first but I am glad that I read it because now it's one of my favorites.
He didn't even say he support incest. He only said he liked the story because it took incest as something serious and not just as a fetish because most vn does that.
I certainly don't follow incest at all, but the notion of incest and forbidden love are pretty good ways of adding drama, and deviancy to an otherwise ordinary plot. So I would advise you to keep a more open mind, you never know what you'll find..
