Love these stupid videos, thousands of people play video games in an healthy way, yet you portray them as evil when the fault is on your petty stupid brain that has a tendency to fall into addiction
Man this is so good.
I'd been gaming for years almost every day for hours a day sometimes up to 16 hours and had to quit a few weeks ago for this reason.. nothing else seemed pleasurable, even things that I used to take great pleasure in like playing music. Everything else was boring, and I felt terrible about myself.
I think about playing multiple times a day, but I still resist. I feel bored, there's anxiety, restlessness and sometimes I feel like I can just play again, but I know better and I have to put it aside in my brain.
I'm hoping someday I can return to play reasonably, but even more that the desire for gaming would disappear completely.
Hey Jeff welcome. Give it a few weeks you’ll be blown away at how much better you can feel. Exercise and time outside in nature can help speed up the process. 3 weeks for boredom (as a withdrawal symptom) to pass. You’ve got this. Walk on grass Jeff
This is exactly the place where I'm at right now. As a 2000's baby, I've always been playing videogames. Matter of fact, my earliest memory of my entire life was sitting on the lap of my sister as she was typing the browser game website so I could play (obviously I didn't knew how to type lol). I've always been into computers, and I started producing electronic music when I was 12 because of my passion for PCs. As gaming became more and more addictive since then, I feel like my creativity was getting progressively "chained"/trapped because of my passive approach into problem-solving (games are frequently made to be beaten in specific circumstances, even in open-world enviroments). Within 10 minutes in my DAW, I feel anxious, self-doubting and it just hurts my "ego". I don't feel like I can produce the same way as I did back then, because the children joy of making music numbed out with gaming overstimulation.
Fun fact, I literally got Gold in LoL yesterday, and the first thing I've done was uninstall it. I didn't played because I liked it, I played it because I simply couldn't cope with the fact that this game sucked out roughly 6 years (or almost 1/4th) of my entire life and I still manage to somehow kinda suck at it. I don't really believe that this is how "dopamine detox" works (even if it really exists), but I shall give it a try.
Thanks @GameQuitters and PLEASE don't give up on music @jeffmuller1489. Remember why you started your shit in the first place, and try to bring that motive back to your life. I know it's easier said than done, but I believe in your willpower my man. Cheers from Brazil.
@@sotvrno93 thank you for the encouragement! Just an hour ago I wanted to go play guitar and I found the humidity at a very low 27% and unplayable.. months of neglect.. but I'm hydrating it up right now and I also want to bring my electrics in for a restring and setup. I need to get creative again. Thank you again. 😊
Just remember the truth, that it's a pointless activity that bears no fruit in your life. You gain nothing from it at all. Also ask God for help too bro... He can give you wisdom and understanding. You'll need it to overcome
Proverbs 4:7-13 ERV
"The first step to becoming wise is to look for wisdom, so use everything you have to get understanding. [8] Love wisdom, and she will make you great. Hold on to wisdom, and she will bring you honor. [9] Wisdom will reward you with a crown of honor and glory." [10] Son, listen to me. Do what I say, and you will live a long time. [11] I am teaching you about wisdom and guiding you on the right path. [12] As you walk on it, you will not step into a trap. Even if you run, you will not trip and fall. [13] Always remember this teaching. Don't forget it. It is the key to life, so guard it well.
It is more about control. Everything can become an addiction. You can be sad or feeling bad, when not watching a good movie or show or read a book, you can be depressed and feel low, when you don't get your hour of workout per day. It is not only gaming, but simple everything can be an addiction and it feel kind of rewarding or floating your brain with Dopamine, when you get it. Personally, I quit gaming five years ago, because I am more a movie and book person. When somebody has the feeling, he can't live anymore without an certain activity, quit his job etc. one should seek out a doctor. The other thing is, one should never simple quit, what makes one happy, when it does not affect life negative. Especially people with depression for example, should never quit an activity, which lighten there mood, without consulting a doctor or feeling especially low afterwards. The whole "you should quit because..." does not work that way.
very wise! glad there are people like you out there. the whole world seems to lose its shit these days.
this is like somebody who doesn't drink alcohol, telling an alcoholic "every drink can be addictive, alcohol is no different" lol.
thank you for doing this. thank you for spending your time helping other people. i have been playing videogames from childhood and in my teenage years i became seriously addicted. now i am 21 and i am better, not so addicted like before but still playing. i lost many things because of my addiction, most importantly my social skills and my memory, which are extremely important for a young adult. but i started making progress in my recovery. With all my heart i advise young teenagers/kid to not follow my footsteps. Go and learn about anything, read, play sports, play musical instruments, cook, go hiking, find passions and develop them. Evolve. play games too if you want but don't live your lives through them like i did. It is a waste of potential and you could be so much better investing that time in other activites. The world would be much better this way :)
hi Fratele, thanks for sharing. happy to hear you are better. great advice for others as well.

first stop doing things that you enjoy it may seem dificult but enjoyable things stop you from doing work and making money if you do something you like make money off of it if you dont then its just a waste of time if you read pay people to hear you read like an audiobook if you play sports it has to be professional so you earn money if you play instruments make money off of it
Awesomely said, I honestly wish the same thing
Dude thank you for this awesome channel, you seriously deserve more views and success because you provide useful and fruitful information for all of us instead of just doing gaming or any dopamine related content
This is very informative. So grateful for all of your content and the life-changing impact it has on so many. Keep it up! Each day the industry shouts its messages loud and clear, so your voice is needed more and more!!
thanks Michelle :)
It seems insane how little content there is about the adverse effects of gaming. Keep up the good work!
Thx for watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
So true!
Just like no one knew the harm sugar did in Cola , they were suppressed by the Cola companies. Video game companies are trying to hide it
Its because you're looking online. Most people on the internet that are actively commenting/participating/posting are addicted to gaming in some way. Most content creators curate their content according to their audience or they will just give up eventually. Most of the audience are kids or unemployed people or mentally ill who barely grasp reasoning and logic yet these same people will type out long winded comment/post to make themselves sound legit but in actuality the message behind it is dumb then you have other kids/unemployed/mentally ill people upvoting/liking these posts so that it works in favor with exposure/algorithm. I know a almost 40 year old gaming addict whos severely obese that hasn't work his whole life that wants to change but always returns back to gaming. I dont need the internet or people to tell me that gaming is bad. I know from personal experience that its bad to the point its effect is pretty much similar to drugs.
Gaming fatigues the body through Dopamine, it also triggers parts of the brain relating to stress and anxiety while simultaneously shutting of the frontal cortex. But Gaming also improves reflex functions, contract sensitivity and speeds up your brains ability to fire neurons. So how to increase the pros and decrease the cons. Simple, Gaming for 5-15 minutes well activate the brain activity pros while not draining your brain from Dopamine, also not Gaming at a high intensity with alot of sound if any and not being emotionally invested in winning therefor not becoming stressed and frustrated when you lose well reduce the negative effects of Gaming.
Once you're addicted to playing games, it's very hard to take a break from it
Truth be told i used to play games years ago for full days non-stop. Now i came across games which ones gets my attention (Dead Island 2 for example) for a longer period of time. But nowadays i don't play much at all. I just got bored of it.Yesterday i played a 1.5 hour War Thunder "simulator" match. Before that day i didn't even turned on my console. Gaming can be good, but don't over do it. Do your sh*t,get your things done (cleaning, studying, cooking etc) and after that play a little.
If you do it like that gaming becomes a "treatment" after a long day. Or a long week. There were times where i played only at weekends. Same can apply to music.
@@patriktoth6258 I think the longer you've been playing games the more you'll get tired and bored of it, so it's probably better to take a little break from your gaming screen time
Its true, but im afraid im only addicted to running on a horse in witcher without any point on map - then actually doing something. But i know, that the gaming is like heroin for brain - or opioids :/ .
Yeah it is.
@@ZdzichuRaczka I used to drive around the highway in GTA 5. Just driving nothing else. Nowadays i won't do these things.
I think it’s a hobby, of course if you spend too much time on it at the point that it takes away from your life is bad, but I’ve been playing for most of my life and learned a lot of stuff, videogames are art and have been proven to have a lot of positives
Great video. I used to have a bit of a gaming addiction especially in my teenage years. Now that I have gotten a bit older and busier gaming has become more of a 2-4 hour per week thing mainly to relax after work. The information in this video was interesting to me as it helped explain alot of emotions I felt back in those teenage years. Always remember people, everything in moderation, and never be afraid to try new things.
Graphic stimulation was a bit too much for me but i managed to watch it until the end. This is well explained and as a 53yo gaming since i was 15 , when i lost my big brother and was completely numbing the pain with videos games, i know you are totally right and i’ve stopped playing video games 3 times in the 3 years and boy it’s hard 10month, 6 month and now on my 9 month and sometimes still craving , especially when i hear about a new release i know i would love. The payoff is what keeps me motivated + seeing how everyone around me benefit , how closer I am from who I always wanted to be and how I rediscovered joy ( though meditation and gratitude was a big part of that)
Hi Cam, Can’t thank you enough for bringing forth this information. I’ve learned so much from your videos. I found support and validation in what I was witnessing in my son (G) when everyone around me thought I was nuts. You ARE changing lives. Keep up the amazing work -Maria
Thanks Maria! So happy to hear it’s helpful for you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I definitely won't be QUITTING gaming but I hope to do it less to help with these issues
godspeed
same here bro
@TrainedACE same🙌
Stop playing games you are bored of trying to relive the old excitement. Games are problems, once you master solving the problem the brain will never again get thesame level of gratification from solving thesame problem. Try game types you never tried, stay away from mainstream as it only has these problems most did a thousand times over.
Incredible video dude, I definitely have this problem!
I can in fact tell you that’s it’s completely true, I’ve been playing for years and years. Hours and hours, suddenly the desire for gaming just went away. I got up and started hustling going to the gym, got my things straight, got a wife now, stopped partying. At age 22 lol But I do smoke alot of pod but I do eat good and workout good. Idk man I’m just weird.
I think cannabis (and perhaps small doses of other psychedelics/entheogens) can help people to rewire their brains and break harmful addictions. 🙂
That intro is edited like a mini-documentary! Enjoyed the rest of the video as well, awesome work 👏🔥
Thanks bro appreciate your help with this one!
Yeah I've always been gaming sense I was a kid in the 2000s and haven't stopped I needed this video thank you
Thanks I needed this for a 10-12 page paper.
I'm not addicted to video games but I am addicted to social media. And it is affecting my life and my career. I had to subscribe to address this problem that is very similar video game addiction.

I've been a gamer for 27 years ...
Grew up as the younger siblings so all the gaming systems were present from the start. SupNintendo, genesis, etc I've experienced every gaming system to building a 3070ti pc in 2021.
I became more attached to gaming when I was 11 My father had died and I began to play call of duty like crazy and other games such as gta , gran turismo.. this cycle continued for the next 18 years. I thought I loved gaming because I was so great at games even finishing in top 20 I'm the world on the call of duty leader boards. but I discovered I used it for coping all these years , escapism , a hit of dopamine, a way to avoid my dysfunctional family and the reality around me , satisfy boredom even to build an identity to the point people call me by my gamer name more than my actual name .. as of today I am finally switching from the part time detox stage and over to the full time detox stage.

I didn't understand why addicts don't just stop. Aftet about 6 months of no gaming at all, I still feel into it. Now I get it why addiction is a life long struggle!
And the people making these things have designed them to be that way (as addictive as possible) so you become trapped in a never ending cycle & end up wasting your time and $ while they profit, truly nasty.
Hope your doing well
@@Cub__the problem is getting addicted but games don't hurt you, this video is shit, it's not about WASTING time, it's about ENJOYING time
Gaming isnt an addiction. Hes lying for views and so are the so called specialists. Research shows no addictive effects in gaming and its been never proven to have any for the past 20 years of scientific research. Dsm inclusion is only ideological due to chinas demands to have an excuse to crack down on citizens consuming western uncensored gaming media and
frequenting gaming spaces.
Thanks bro I needed this information
Great video absolutely! As another comment stated it doesn't seem like there is enough discussion on the dangers of gaming and getting trapped into a vicious cycle of gaming. Im 22 and ive spent ALOT of time playing video games, I sold my Xbox a couple years ago because I was done and went on a long break before getting sucked onto Mobile gaming and then getting a Steam Deck back in October and I was ADDICTED to it for Months it felt like!! I don't want to waste away my 20s just playing games especially when I have so much to do!! Moderation is definitely key but ive found that games are just so damn enjoyable that everytime I just end up getting addicted haha.. I don't plan on playing any Games for tge rest of the year just to really focus & work on some other areas of my life that needs it badly!
Great video once again my friend and keep at it!
Yeah, waste your 20’s on “real life” - that will help…
This channel is by far the best UA-cam channel I have ever seen and the fact that it only has 27.8K subscribers is crazy i think it should be at least 27.8M. I used to be very addicted to video games i quit then discovered this channel and now i am subscribed i truly hope this channel helps other people quit video games i am so happy this channel exists. I never knew how bad gaming is and how it is so bad for the brain.
THANK YOU SO MUCH GAME QUITTERS !!!!!!!!!!
This video is nothing complete new to me but a helpful reminder. I have depression and you are right I am often in search of dopamine or adrenaline (not only by gaming).
I have noticed that on the days when I don't play any CSGO or Val, I feel comparatively more peaceful and unagitated throughout the day. Guess what toxicity does to you..
100% absolutely
Hey. Off topic question: on what volume do you have the background music? Like -30 db or? Ur editing is gold.
I quit playing video games for 2 years and social media for nearly a month now.
Never been happier before.
Love your video.
Big moves!
Especially social media will be the fall of mankind....
you need to play video games to improve your brain bro
God bless you, leveling up irl rather than in a virtual world that has no bearing in actuality
you didn't quit social media tho, you're on youtube
You can also start with "1 day digital detox" per week. Exactly what it sounds like. 😄💗💗
Helpful to replace with a fun relaxing outdoor activity (like a beach day), but not necessary! 🙂🙂😊
Then you can add another day and eventually you can string together days no problem!!! 😄😄🥰🙏🧠💪
I used too be like this but it ends up in pain and depression just do your thing and live but it depends on people
I still love coming back to your videos
Glad you still find them worthwhile :)
Great information! What would be interesting is more in-depth videos on how to set up your environment to avoid gaming and how to fill up your free time with healthier hobbies/activities.
Thanks Ryan. Have a bunch of videos on alternative activities, you can also see this article: gamequitters.com/hobby-ideas
This person has no information, they just spitball nonsense to anyone whos looking to confirm their bias. Its not videogamez being bad, its you and your lack of time management skills. Ironically a time and resource management game would help you be better at it.
True I always choose the controller over the hoover until I realise yeah this place needs cleaning now. I feel now there’s not enough time for games, I can only really play properly on Sundays but then that quite often will mean I’m neglecting something else like I could be seeing family or friends with that time. Working all the time to survive is the hardest part about life.
Can't believe it took me this long to figure this out
I've killed so much time on this, for different reasons, but the outcome is the same - it could be used for improving or enjoying life. Our parents didn't knew about the dangers of modern times - gaming, social media , porn, sugar in everything, all to hook us to consuming products of big corp again and again. Think for yourselves guys, help each other, avoid this ish altogether.
100% parents didn't know and there was no way they could, it happened so fast. but now we know better so we can take control!
@@GameQuitters you are right, Cam. Thanks for your efforts!
cmon bro. Are your 50 years old or what? Porn sugar video games was created long time ago
thx for the advice
I just discovered this channel. A very pleasant surprise. I can't claim to suffer from gaming addiction, but social media compulsion is certainly there.
Hey welcome 👋🏼
You cant because it doesnt exist. We have done research for 30 years! Theres no such thing. WHO is corrupt, china needs an excuse to crack down on chinese uncensored western media consumers hence the inclusion of gaming adiction as a disorder in latest dsm. The science didnt change, they just lowered the criteria of addiction to incude anything and everything.
This is one of your best videos man.
Thanks so much!
I’ve been watching several youtube videos like this to help myself feel motivated. I think I have a serious game addiction because I can play almost all day and I won’t do anything except game(I think my memory is declining as well). However, I am going to try quit games because it really affected my attitude towards my school work and my family members. I feel a lot more calm while listening to these videos, and seeing how others have the same problem as me.
ur memory problem might be tied to sleep deprivation (if u game all day i assume u don't sleep 8 hours)
I needed this
Thank you.
I'm 25 years of age and i still play video games like once in a while if an interesting single player games comes out with good story apart from that I don't play any online games usually in a month i just do cycling, go to work, workout and then read some books but I can't completely give up gaming cuz certain games are very unique like Death Stranding most people hate it but it's written so brilliantly and the story is amazing but i usually think excess of anything is bad so even when I'm gaming I'll just do 1 mission and then get off
just started the detox.. thanks mate

I have a hard time understanding why the videos dont get more tracktion. Thumbnail, titel, intro, and content is all on point.
Thanks. Channel had a lot of neglect for a few years before, lack of consistency etc, but I’ve been putting a lot more effort into the quality and consistency now so let’s see 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I'm a small indie video game developer, but recently I've been thinking about the effects of gaming. After watching this video its clear that a lot of video games out there are bad for you, but I'm wondering if you think its possible to make a healthy game? One that's not super addictive, doesn't provide instant gratification, and is just something to entertain you or inspire you.
you can do that but then you wont make as much money and money is the only thing you should think about so you can die knowing you were depressed but rich
I love your videos , They are deep and touching
Thanks Rose!
As a parent with game addicted child this is insightful. I guess I'm addicted to social media going to do a detox no tiktok or UA-cam get more into art work
Tysm ❤
Thinking about what you said in the end, I should be taking a break, but since video games are my only entertainment source, I just can’t. I don’t get a lot of opportunities to do dopamine detox activities such as playing with friends and all that.
Ugh, scored 6/9 in that quiz…
Spot on! Now if only I could get my son onboard. I’m so glad to see you make the parallels between gaming and porn and social media.

Hey bro 🤝
Too much of anything is bad.
Some things are boring AF and it's ok not wanting to do them.
As long as you are not addicted to gaming that it affects your life negatively, then it's ok to game every day.
Working sucks anyway as we're built for hunting. It's also pointless unless you have your own company to build.
personally i think it has more upsides than you think, memory games for example increases iq because of neuroplasticity and becoming a professional and keeping a healthy active life, can have huge advantages in hand eye coordination, like juggling which can also increase intelligence quotient
Right now, I'm addicted to online jigsaw puzzles, lol. I'm going through some hard times, and they are a temporary escape. I went for a couple of years without playing online games and I was happier that way. I don't like what computer games do to my brain and want to quit again, for GOOD!
I’m a 40 year old woman and I’ve been using video games to anaesthetise myself since I was a kid in the 80s. It started with my Master System, then Nintendo, then the internet generally (dial up did teach me a lot of patience tbf), then PlayStation, now Xbox and PC. When my anxiety gets bad all I can think about is getting back to my game or doomscrolling. It’s not like I’m using porn and drinking as well (I’m not). But I’ve started to realise that my imagination is seriously impeded. When I was a little kid I wrote stories constantly. But I’ve struggled to do that as an adult. I’ve had a lot of traumas and gaming has always been my escapism of choice. I’ve only just accepted that it’s an addiction. I’ve started having CBT and am trying to wean myself of gaming and screens generally. It’s really tough. It’s hard coming to terms with yourself and feeling the pain you’ve been hiding from your whole life.
been trying to quit league of legends off and on for a year now but I have never made it further than 7 days. I think now it is time to quit for real, it is holding me back so much.
Hi Cam I gave my Xbox to my brother and started a gym membership yesterday and I’m also gonna do Brazilian Jujitsu and read a book.
Now that’s action!! 👑

We must rebel against the games! jkjkjk. This video is incredible. Nice job. im a few monthes clean of games and very proud
Way to go Ken
Do you feel more bored now or you feel more motivated for other activities?
@joelroy9221 recently relapsed. Its been a bad year for me and my goals. I guess once I lost my purpose, (distracted by women) the next thing togo was my good habits. Then I finally just adopted bad habits again.
@@Ken-wf8fo ah, I thought I was alone
But , I do think overall, before getting distracted by women and degenrate friends that did drugs, i was very motivated because without gaming, I had time to Chace my purpose. I wasn't bored because I woke up each day with a habit of studying that automatically too over my thoughts. I was only thinking of studying. It became pleasurable to learn.
I wish people spoke more about the addictiveness of gaming.
Very well made video
thank you :)
nice !
When 2024 starts. I'm going to trying taking a break from gaming until Tekken 8 comes out.
When I was younger I used tonplay video games a lot but it seems after high-school I just stopped i became occupied with work college and daily life activities. I only play games once in a blue moon now.
funny how the things he says about clicking of or going to the comments are things the algorithm notices
I have game addiction but not only. I also have porn and social media addiction too. All the times I watched others on social media how great is their life, where they going on camping, but I didn’t do anything for that.
I watched so much youtube videos about game addiction but they only said the addiction effect, like in this video. I already know the bad effects and that stuffs, but I don’t know what to do against boring, anxiety. In the and of the video you told that you made a video against boring. I want to thank you for that video.
Saya juga masih struggle dengan Game FPS (Val/Overwatch) i want to stop playing that and focusing myself to another activities, terima kasih sudah membuat channel ini untuk edukasi & breakthrough to your game addiction, Gbu bro
thx for watching :)
I’m watching this at 4:48 am I wake up and I start gaming. It does not stop. All day all night tell morning tell my head starts to hurt. There are times I go for days. Then I noticed I haven’t ate in 2 days I try to get back to normal like going to sleep early or hitting the gym. Like it’s sounds horrible but really Iv gotten so used to this nothing matters to me.
It seem like not only you are addicted but you are also have a problem with the reality you live in maybe its the environment? Traumatic experience? You gotta solve those stuff too or else dopamine detox won't help much.... That's my opinion please take care and get well soon.
Don't give up the fight !! You need to find some activity or anything that will occupy your mind. Remember your a slave to whatever controls you, don't let yourself be a victim. Be strong. If you need advice stay in touch, good luck and God bless.
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
I dont play them, but I watch them on UA-cam to fall asleep. Does this count as playing and ruining my brain.
My friend playing video games is one of my reasons for living and that help me to cope with everything, since I was little I have done it and I always feel happy with each new game I decide to play, I will not give it up, and if it comes to "intrude" in my personal life is because I make idiotic decisions and act like an asshole, of course an addition is bad and should be left but everything rn excess is bad, only the games have been normalized but it is also a problem addiction to food, exercise, in short, the excess of anything.
This dude is onto something
thx for watching
Thanks l recently removed gaming stuff from my twelve year old son and m trying to remain adamant bcz l know too much had affected his school work and social skills
it'll be best for him in the long term
Welp, I'm doing a dopamine detox.
u got this!
I have quit gaming and porn for 30 days today and man i feel insane! Feeling lots of energy, motivation and natural happyness. The first two weeks were terrible, i had nightmares about gaming and realy strong headaches, but by the end of the third week these sypthoms started to get weaker. I have discovered a new hobby wich is study philosophy, being engagin more with friends and i'm stating a business. Just wanted to share the benefits that i'm experiencing and motivate whorever is in need. Just to be clear i'm 34 years old, been playing for a long time and i've being doing fine. I'm not special if i'm doing this anyone can do. Just be sure to seek other activites and you be fine!
Huge progress for you well done
start a business that makes the most money and
This is definitely me
As a 36 year old that stopped playing video games as late as 34 years old (this was during the pandemic), I can tell you that it's okay to be addicted to video games until age 25 but from that point you should really stop. It causes some detrimental effects to your life. It's okay to play occasionally but don't make it big habit. I haven't looked back at my massive Steam collection in a while. I believe I played VGs for coping and it was bad. In a way I wish doctors and psychologists found this out earlier.
Are there some benefits video games have more than smoking and alcohol? Of course. But you shouldn't continue past age 25. I would even wager stopping to do it at age 18 would be best. I did attempt to stop it at age 17 but high school and life got really hard for me and I got back into video games and once I got pocket money from working I used that to get games which threw me down the path of no return.
One of the worst things video games can do is change your view of the world around you. You will not find the world around you exciting. You will feel like a 30+ year old woman that cannot pair bond anymore because you were run through by many dicks.
Stay off Steam, Pornhub, Netflix. Does disastrous things to your brain you cannot get back.
I play video games for a short time. And not every day. When I do play I end up thinking of ways to make my exercise routine better, or things I can do at work to do a better job. Ironically I think I get pleasure from pain, because it means I got a good workout.
This was suggested alongside all the "how to deal with adhd" videos.
the majority suggested video games
Thanks for this. I enjoy your scientific approach and it's nice to see anti-gaming content that doesn't fall into the redpill / grindset genre. Everything you're saying is accurate and I appreciate the information you're sharing with us.
Glad you enjoyed the video 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Day 131 of Online Gaming Detox: Dopamine gone bad lead to not aspiring in life. Two things I’ve found some joy from are the results of walking and car models. I like that you mentioned reading and my friend just inspired me too. I’ve always wanted to be a reader in my heart. I’m working now to schedule 30-minute conversations 3 times a week with my wife for communication. The same amount of time sounds like a good goal for starting to fall in love with reading classical literature and a marriage book I have.
amazing process with your wife that's great. a book that I liked a lot was "How to be an adult in relationships"
Believe in Christ. N besides everything discipline is the key: u don’t need dopamine detox u just actually need to go to bed
@@rockyp32 Amen. I use their wording, but either way what it means is for 131 days I've been off online gaming and that's progress cause for me I intend for the demons never to come back. :)
@@christopherburns2922 if that’s where the demons got u then awesome. For me it’s the same I’ve been addicted since young. But now I want to go pro
@@rockyp32 gaming changes your brain and I can testify to this because of what it has done to our son. He was on fire for the Lord and when he went to college he became addicted to discord and virtual reality. It has changed him. He has a stronghold on him. I don't even recognize him.
So yes, Jesus has the power to change and transform but the person has to want help. I do believe in dopamine detox and seeking the Lord with all our hearts. Don't knock the detox. It is an addiction!
So I have a question, with society people are either introverts or extroverts. For introverts, is this due to high amounts of dopamine that spending time with friends seems tiring?
Thank I will try to left any device for 30 days for to get a better and healthy brain
I'm taking the challenge. Starting today. Wish me luck friends.
good luck! come join us on the forums or discord, the extra support will help a lot: forum.gamequitters.com or discord.gg/gamequitters
I love your vids. Super informative.
I dont underand why you receive such backlash on these. Gotta be the copium and people not wanting to face reality. With that being said i think there is always 2 kinds of people when it comes to addiction. Therr is a normal person then there is a compulsive person.
Example gambling. There are many professional gamblers out there ex. Sports bettors, but yet there are many compulsive degentate gamblers who cannot control themselves. Its the same here. You have normal users and then the compulsive ones
Is it common for gamers to look like their brain is going really fast, their patience wears out quickly and you can see them constantly looking in multiple directions?
After 6 months of no gaming I relapsed again, so here we go again. Watched the video, uninstalled all my games, this time also UA-cam and the music on my phone to go with the full experience. Not so much to do on my PC, I use it to study, so sometimes I need to watch yt (don't have games on it though, just music) Altough I do have a website blocker that'll come in handy.
Let's start over with the detox!
As always, thank you, Cam! You never fail to make me stop lying to myself and to remind me what's really important for me.
Hi Franco, thanks for sharing. Great job taking action, you've got this!
how it goes?
@@filipstruhar8048 Ummm, I actually changed plans... I kept gaming, but I plan on moderating instead of abstinence this time. Tbh it's easier for me to abstain, but I really like games, and there are moments I truly enjoy playing them, so as long as it's not in excess, I feel moderation should be my final goal. So far it's been really difficult, specially since holidays started and I have to plan what I'll do, but I have faith. I managed to cut off games before, despite relapsing many times, so I'm confident I can achieve moderation!
I used to play games growing up for hours especially call of duty but I broke away from that I love job as a spray painter but I play video games when I have completed every i need to do or just to kill time
I can't figure out how to join the discord. I tried the link but it doesn't seem to work. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
hmm weird, I just tried the link incognito and it worked: discord.gg/gamequitters
I quit gaming about 4-5 years but started because now I have a pc like for studies but can play some games under 20gb so I play 4-5 days weekly an half an hour
Watched the whole video. For me personally it takes more discipline and perseverance to get through a challenging video game than it does to read or exercise. But I can see how this can be an issue people who have the reverse problem.
W
Does that mean you exercise and read way more than you game?
@@Fjerid yeah, I also do game programming (as a hobby) more than I play video games, but I try to find time for it.
@@llamasarus1 please stop hobbies its gratifacation and you dont want to feel happy you want money have fun being poor
why did you delete your comment
Well, I made it about 6 mins in before I succumbed to scrolling down ;). I had an article up in my tabs that linked here. Just came off a week long COD bender and finally gave my XBox away so I couldn't have access. I'd been saying I was going to quit for about a year now, so...
I've been gaming since 7 I'm now 25 gaming is a unhealthy addiction and it can slowly kill you and if you get addicted like me it can physically kill you and take over your life I noticed I've wasted so many years of my life that could of resulted in a easier life for myself I'm now to the point to where I'm so unhealthy and out of shape that when play I'm worried whether or not if I'm going to have a heart attack or not due to the adrenaline rush of constantly playing for hours and being out of shape gaming has taken over my focus on education my family and has turned me into less of a man... now I work hard labor jobs and I'm very unhappy with my life and having to work just to get by you'll be happy these days just to get yourself a meal a day if you turn into a loser like myself
Watching UA-cam also in this list which should avoided during detox?
I believe there is a clear line between enjoying games as a pass time and being addicted to it. Many people in these comments state to spend almost HALF of their days gaming. That is insane and you need to stop. But for people like me who exercise, work, and have school for most of the year gaming allows me to relax while I have nothing else going on.
As a was a teenager gaming was a much bigger problem to me. Nowadays I know different ways of getting dopamine but yes, not all are healthy.
