    I’m strictly acoustic, but I definitely appreciate your playing ability. I was never able to do was play electric guitar. And what’s nice is that where you change styles from heavy rock to funk to classic etc. A friend of mine working selling the tires to himself how to play six or seven different styles for about two minutes and he did a fantastic job from jazz to blues and rock in the country so whoever came in looking for a guitar, he would just play whatever he figured they liked. He was easily their top sales person. So you know, if you ever decide to go into selling guitars I’m sure you will do very very well. With most people, hearing someone play it is the tipping point. With me it’s always been about comfort of the body and fretboard, tone/sound coming second. I remember purchasing a guitar that sounded like a grand piano, but it was a dog for me to play so it sat in the case probably coming out when I wanted to show people how incredible it sounded, and I never made the mistake again, Opting for a guitar I can play for a couple hours.
    Thanks for a great video!

      That’s a really lovely comment - thank you so much! Sounds like your friend has a good approach to demoing equipment. I do actually come from selling guitars for a living and always tried to show the versatility of everything just to show the customer that anything is possible when it comes to creating “their” sound. Thanks for watching the video - so pleased you enjoyed it!

      It would be wonderful if I proofread my text. LOL. I’m glad you were able to figure out that mishmash of words. It was a compliment and in a nutshell, what my friend did was learn several styles and did them very well and utilized that selling guitars.

      I knew what you meant, and thanks for leaving a comment in the first place! And I totally agree with you about guitars sounding great but not playing well - got to find that blend! 😁

    Even though I have a good selection of newer types of pedal, including a Zoom G2Nu, I still have and love my old 5050ii. On a previous channel (that I no longer check), I uploaded a demo os my preferred types of effect - mostly non-distortion. I also listed the settings I used. If it helps anyone ... ua-cam.com/video/6KvBrDdKddE/v-deo.html
    Later on I edited the patches and uploaded a new demo ... ua-cam.com/video/4yYPkZqmc1M/v-deo.html

      @@WillHessey Have just taken the plunge and ordered myself a T.Rex Soulmate Acoustic multi-effects pedal.
      Shudderingly expensive but it's a fantastic tool and as I play a fair bit of acoustic and also prefer non-distortion effects for my electrics, it should be top notch. If you've never seen or heard one, this demo by 'Danish Pete' (Peter Honoré
      ) is long but covers just about everything. ua-cam.com/video/RtAT6FuD_K0/v-deo.html. (After the initial looper jam, his intro and demo starts at 5.41) Peter's uploads for Andertons and - even more so - the videos and tutorials he uploads on his own channel are always worth watching. He's in my personal list of top 5 guitarists. He recently uploaded a couple of great jams with Lee ('The Captain') for Andertons ... try this, especially if you haven't as yet come across the Fender Acoustasonic .. ua-cam.com/video/JpvMDSad19I/v-deo.html The first jam stars it off. The main long loop and jam starts at 29.20 although their chat about the Fender is very interesting and persuasive.

    I'm new to electric guitars and especially pedals. My brother gave me this pedal and I am so clueless where to start with the thing because it seems to be able to do so much!
    Any suggestions on how or where to begin understanding this pedal?
    Thanks for the video by the way!

    • @WillHessey
      @WillHessey  6 років тому +2

      Hi there! I'd suggest to just use the factory patches first and get use to the pedal that way. There are so many sounds to choose from, I'd find a few of the patches you like and go from there. For example C2 is a good clean sound and C3 is a great drive sound. Or you could pick a drive patch that you like, then use the bypass for a clean sound! Hope that helps! W

      I agree with May Day. Also, don't be afraid of screwing up patches as you can always reset it to default / factory (you'll find this in the manual) settings, but just remember this will cause you to lose any changes you've made.

    Hey Will, how do you hookup a Dunlop wah pedal to that Zoom with the wah first in the signal chain? Do you use the control or input jack? The manual didn`t say that using other pedals would damage the unit.

    • @WillHessey
      @WillHessey  3 роки тому +1

      I’d go with Wah first in the chain. I’ve never used it, but you can use a control pedal to access some of the internal effects. Wah, octave, etc.. If I can get a hold of one I’ll give it a test!

    • @randallamps
      @randallamps 3 роки тому +1

      @@WillHessey I bought a Zakk Wylde wah and connected it to the input jack and then out to amp. It sounds good and looks good together side by side with that gun metal look. Always wanted a Zakk wah. Don`t care for the Zoom expression pedal.

      @WillHessey  3 роки тому +1

      You can’t beat a separate wah! Great choice - glad it’s working out for you.

    I am not sure but I believe this pedal is actually intended to be used with an acoustic electric through ether a "acoustic" amp or directly into a PA.

    • @WillHessey
      @WillHessey  6 років тому +1

      kenoakee Hi, thanks for the comment! This one is for specific use with an electric guitar through a guitar amp. Zoom did make one specifically for acoustic guitars in this range called the 504 II.

    Thanks. I recently got mine out of the attic and am trying to use it again. Seems like my output jack needs repair. It have to press on my wire to get it to work. Something might need to be re-saudered?

    • @WillHessey
      @WillHessey  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! I take it you mean push on the wire though?.. 😉 I’m always pushing my wife’s patience to buy more guitars.. That aside - it could mean a resolder or maybe try looking at the connectors on the output jack. Maybe the parts that make contact with the jack need some adjustment? Let me know how you get on! 👍

    Still feeling as if I haven’t given Zoom a fair chance, since I’ve been swept away by Line 6 and Boss processors & amp modelers for 18 years. And most ironically, this one could potentially address my adulthood quest to approximate the early Boston guitar tone.
    From 3:47 - 4:10, instead of an envelope filter, it almost seems like a Flanger cutoff being controlled by your string attack instead of a rate control.

    • @WillHessey
      @WillHessey  4 роки тому

      These are just the standard patches. I’m not a big fan of lots of tinkering (probably why I’ll never get a Kemper!) but for me, some of these standard patches are great and have worked excellent for various recordings I’ve made. Enjoy yours matey! 👍

    Just pulled mine out of my "haven't used in a long time" pile. Bought it in 2004 as my first effects pedal. Recently decided to give the Reverb a whirl, before buying a Reverb pedal, I forgot how cool this pedal is. Man the Reverb is actually pretty atmospheric with some patch tinkering. I'm still keeping it.
