    That Lexus is, perhaps, the best Hooptie find you've ever bought. Impossibly cheap with hardly anything wrong and didn't require much to get it back to virtually 100%, certainly a testament to the level of quality that Toyota put into these cars so long as the owner was reasonably diligent in its care. And the fact that it's a five speed mated to that gem of a V6 makes it all the more of a treasure.
    IMO, you should never have gotten rid of it.

      Binshou Builds To be fair though, the reason most Ferrari’s are still around has nothing to do with reliability, it’s because they retain their value very well and it’s almost always worth repairing/maintaining. Most other shit cars there comes a point where a repair or several repairs exceed the value of the car.
      That being said, anyone who buys a fiero with a body kits to look like a retarded version of a Ferrari deserves a punch in the head.

    • @samoksner
      @samoksner 7 років тому +6

      Not a lot of manual Lexus out there to begin with. I'm sure some beat up crashed SC has sold for cheap but you can't really compare a clean car to what most people get for $500 - that's Clean Title, original paint, no damage, interior not trashed, drives and has new tires... I think you can claim this a win for sure!

    My 1996 ES300 went 336,000 miles, totalled by a deer. Totally reliable, ran forever. Bought it at 81000 miles at $6k I think seven years old. did the timing belt twice, put new valve cover gaskets on it, got a leather stitch on wheel cover. Insurance paid me $4800 for the total.$100/yr. depreciation with almost a quarter million miles driven by me. You have a gem here, little fix up and retouch. Best car I'll ever own. There was content with the Camry - but the Evora has a Camry based engine so I guess that's a Camry too. Totally different cars when you drove them.

    I have done the same thing a few times. I actually bought a 1974 Firebird Formula from a tow company in San Diego Ca some years back on Ebay. Said it ran ok. So I flew out to SD from Boston Ma to check it out, while I was there I saw a 1971 Buick Skylark for sale in the San Diego new paper classifieds. So I drove my rental car to check that out. I ended up buying the Firebird, having it shipped back and I drove the Buick back 2400 miles. That was a very cool trip. I also thew cares to the wind once and bought a 1982 Toyota Supra from a dealer in Pennsylvania , took a bus from Manchester NH to Philly and drove that back as well. This is something all car buffs should bucket list.
